Are You Verbal With Your Computer

Now I just know we are all well-behaved ladies and gentlemen, with calm, placid, delightful personalities. Ah! But when it comes to the computer, do you let yourself go? Are you verbal with a computer and say things that would make a truck driver blush? Just when are those moments you lash out "words" to that computer of yours? Is it when you make a million typos...when the computer is slow...or just when you do something plain stupid? With me I think it's a combo of all three I just mentioned. Aren't you glad your computer can't talk back to you? LOL

only then the browser sticks..or outlook sends mail when you're trying to reply.oh yea..i think some days my neighbors must hear me LOL [scarlet_woman]
Can't help wonder what my neighbors think----must think I'm looney...hehe [pyewacket]

I am verbal when it slows down from some nasty piece of spyware. Then I have to stop what I am doing, scan and remove the baddie. I usually have a few choice words for the spyware. Also when the internet connection slows, I try to coax my computer into loading quicker..lol Come on..you can do it...I know that you can..I have seen you load it before...then when it loads, I praise it..lol SEE, I knew that you could do it! Maybe clap a little to make it feel good, you know, all of that "normal" stuff. Crazy, I know, but if you spend enough time at the computer it becomes like a part of the family ..lol.. [saigonwarrior]
Hmmmm..maybe that's what I should do..make nice with my computer when it behaves! LOL [pyewacket]

I most definitely can be vocal at times with my computer, mainly when it is going slow or has frozen up. Anytime something goes wrong with it, I may have a few choice words for my computer or the internet or maybe a program on my computer. If things are going well, I say nothing. Sometimes I will be playing a computer game and it will go really slowly and I run out of time on the game. LOL [kgwat70]
Mmm...maybe we should praise our computer, like Saigonwarrior suggested when things go right...new concept for me...LOL--I just rant and rave when things go wrong [pyewacket]

Oh yes, I curse at my computer and often, and lately I have been pissed that I bought this new computer and I have to turn it off several times a day cause pages won't load, which really pisses me off since I purchased this computer to be an upgrade from my previous computer, yet I never had to turn off my other computer for days. I am thinking it is the Windows Vista program, which I really don't like. [texasclassygal]
Be careful with Vista. I received a warning from one of the "tech" sites a few days ago about downloading the SP1 for Vista. I'm not even going to consider getting it until all the bugs are gone. I just ordered a laptop so I'll have internet access while we're gone in September, and I made sure they loaded it with XP and NOT Vista. [claudia413]

Well right now I am on my laptop and it never lets me down. But now as for my desk computor well it is a piece of sh!t right now and has crashed on me two times in the last two months and I yell at it all the time, if it could yell back at me I would be in so much trouble. [hoghoney]
I think a lot of us would be in trouble if our computers could talk back to us...LOL [pyewacket]

I usually don't talk or yell at my computer other than ot curse Microsoft or Yahoo...lol I don't use four letter words if I can help it. I think eventually the computer will be able to talk back and it won't be pretty...lol [sigma77]
Oh...my goodness then you must be polite not to use four letter words...Before I got my own computer I used to go to the library or a Net place...there were a bunch of regulars there at the Net..so one day I'm sitting next to a regular and the computer wasn't behaving itself..and started yelling (not too too loud) at it...the guy said.."Let me know when the computer talks back to you." LOL Oh yes, good thing they don't talk back to us [pyewacket]

The words that sometimes comes out of sweet and innocent brendalee's mouth would shock you. I go for the long, multiple bad word sentences.lol. I do alot of things on the computer so it is easy for me to come across spyware and then it freezes up my computer. And that does not make me happy. Lately I have been having an issue with my internet going down. I have to restart the computer and that really makes me mad. Its a good thing I live in the country. [brendalee]
Oh my...are you saying that the words from your sweet mouth are >gasps< unladylike?? LOL [pyewacket]

I'm glad you caught yourself dreaming there...lol, well behaved lady is a definate stretch of the imagination. But actually I don't talk to my computer at all when the excessive mistakes start I figure it is time for a break, so I go refill my coffee cup and talk to the cats. When I have relaxed enough, I peel the kitten off my leg or foot whichever he is attached to and return to my computer for my abuse. [sumofalltears]
lol...I have found that it is always a good idea to keep people guessing since it is better for them to put their foot in their mouth than for you to put your foot in your mouth....:}....that of course is presuming the foot still goes that high...! [sumofalltears]

lol yes im very glad mine cant talk back, i tend to use words like oh u dumb computer, hurry up your so slow etc, and i think if it could talk back i would run outside and scream lol because it wouldnt be nice talking back to me lol. when i make the typos its usually me saying oh why did i do that, so the computer lucky that way i dont blame it for my typos. luckily my neighbours live about a fair bit away and cant hear me (i live on a farm) [meljessxena]
Wow --its seems when you do talk to your computer your rather polite though...hehe [pyewacket]

Hi pyewacket, I have been laughing my bum off, (did you hear me?) reading this. Just yesterday, I spent (almost:) TWO HOURS downloading something, it was at 97%, I got kick offline! (I said a bad word--- may be a couple more:) I hurried & got back online, but of course I lost it! It isn't the computers' fault, I can't blame it (and really it IS my friend-- how can you be mad at a friend?:) If this computer could talk back yesterday it would have said "error" or possibly "potty mouth" :) What do you think yours would say?:) [Heavensent53]
Oh no--two hours downloading and then lose it all..yikes...as for what my computer would say...hehe..it would probably say the same things to me that I say to it...and I can't type that here...LOL [pyewacket]

I'll have you know that I'm very nice to my computer at work. Why just this morning, I offered to give it flying lessons! Right out the 2nd story window. [carpenter5]
Today, it's not the computer itself...but the computer game that I'm playing that seems to be outsmarting me AGAIN. I've failed I've failed [carpenter5]

Sometimes I almost HIT my computer, never mind swear at it. :) I get mad when I'm doing something, and have to flip from site to site, and the computer just takes ages to load every page. I mean, it's a new computer! Why is it so slow? It makes me seriously angry. xD [Mewpink]
How new? This is actually my second computer...the first one I got literally died on me..within a week!! it was obviously a lemon..so I had to take it back and was able to get another one [pyewacket]

I tend to swear at my computer when it's really slow. I get really impatient! But, I think at school is the worst time for me because their computers are really bad...slow as snails and have annoying cryptic messages that pop up when you're working! Then you lose your train of thought and everything just goes down hill from there. I think the teachers turn a blind eye now but my friends like to have a good laugh about it. XD [ShadyLane]
I get so impatient too...and I have DSL so my computer is actually quite fast but even then every once in awhile it'll be slow--Sometimes when I'm at a friend's house and they have a computer they'll let me use it for a bit..they are all on dial-up...it was because of that I swore I'd never resort to dial up---would drive me nuts [pyewacket]

Oh yeah! I'm the combo type too. The things I have said to my computer aren't even close to resembling anything ladylike. LOL And if it could talk back to me, I can just imagine the cussing out it would give me. [Katlady2]
Ummmmm....I don't think that mine would be that gentle. It would be more like the two hands coming out and backhanding me right out of my computer chair! LOL [Katlady2]

About the only time I get verbal with my computer these days is when I'm playing games. You should hear some of the words that come out of my mouth, pyewacket. My boyfriend laughs and laughs as he points out to me that it's only a game. Well, when I'm playing a game, I go all out. No game is going to cheat me and get away with it,LOL! [worldwise1]
Oh--remind me never to play games with you then..LOL--are you a sore loser? I know I am--LOL [pyewacket]

Nah, for me I'm am just the same, no need to let my emotions go or whatever. But at times the computer does in away you can say, get back at you. It usually crashes at the worst possible time whenever I am in the middle of something, maybe a payback for the over usage that I have been giving it. [8ctavarium]
yup. maybe the computer needs to rest, too. that's why it gets slow sometimes or hangs up on us... telling us that he is tired already. hehe. but good for you not to put so much emotions on it. [maryannemax]

haha yes I let myself completely go but at times i scare myself lol [her0ic]

funny but i haven't been used to cursing. crazy at i might be... but even if things get to worst, i don't curse. i just say the letters.. grrrrrrrr loudly but i don't curse at all. maybe because i was raised by my mom that way which is good for me. so whether my computer can talk back or not, i won't be scared at all... anne [maryannemax]

I am usually 'telepathic' with my computer, telling it to "hurry up, hurry up, hurry up before I pull your plug," with my mind. However, either it does not reply back telepathically or it decides to rebel by going even slower at times. That's when it's time for me to run to the kitchen to grab a cold one & gulp it down. By the time I get back, it usually slams the browser window(s) shut, or it's still stuck or it has finally finished. [KrazyKlingon]

LOL - well - OK - yes - I admit it! I have been known to swear at my PC if it starts running slowly. I also sometimes have been known to use words of encouragement - "come on baby, you can do it!" - that kind of stuff. There - you'll think I'm totally mad now! [rosie_123]

Let me start by saying that it is a good thing I do not have any children in my home especially ones who are at the stage of repeating everything that is being said in order to learn. I have a computer that likes to prove that it really does control me. I have never liked anyone but me to be in control so for something that is not able to breath to have a say over what I do with my free time makes me say things that would and has made a truck driver turn red and cover his ears. The time when I am most vocal with the computer is when for some reason unknown to me it will let me load google, as that is my homepage, but will not let me load another page. I get so angry and usually start by saying "come on load my email at least or mylot" but them I get a bit more wordy. My house mates used to think that I was arguing with my boyfriend when I would start cursing but now they just pass my room asking "computer again huh?" [razcal2267]
Oh that's funny ...people thinking you were arguing with your boyfriend, now they know its just you yelling at your computer [pyewacket]

I am sooo glad my computer can't talk back lol.. and yep, I am verbal with it.. for the reasons you gave, plus I tend to talk/laugh as I type, plus! recently my old laptop has decided to have a widdle quirk.. sometimes (thinking of which keys) the i,o,j,k,m keys just don't work.. I have to lift the poor old thing up and thump it under this area to get them going.. wouldn't be half so bad if just on starting to type, but it will do this right in the middle of a post or document.. I am a peck (not touch) typer, so am slow anyway, then I look up and these letters are missing from several lines worth of stuff.. such a pain.. lol.. that makes me revert to my redneck-army-sargent's-daughter-speak lol.. for right now this is my worst peeve with old Betsy here lol.. I threaten to put her outside and run over her with my car, but she just laughs cause she knows I can't afford a new one lol.. but I speak to lots of inanimate and mechanical things, particularly my car.. the funniest here is listening to my nephew talk to his when he's playing games.. a holdover from guys screaming at ball teams on the tv, I guess, which I think most men do, at least all of ours do.. so now I can tell my family that no, I am not that weird, other people talk to their computers too :-) [wdkptr]
You and me both in being glad our computers can't talk to us....and of course you just know my verbal abuse is oh, so lady-like...heheh..mmm...must have the redneck-army-sargeant in me too.LOL [pyewacket]

Yes, there have a few occasions when I've gone off on my computer. It's usually when it's starting to get very slow or starting have a melt down when nothing is working. I don't think I say anything the would make a trucker or a sailor blush but it's def. entertaining for my husband to hear. Oh and yes I am glad my computer can't talk back because I am afraid of what it might say to me. [gizmo528]
I think most of my verbal abuse with my computer is simply when I'm not doing things fast enough or make a million typos--can't help what my cats think when they here me rant and rave though [pyewacket]

ohhhhhh i do like this discussion. Lol yes I think im very verbal with my discussions on here I am shy and retiring in real life but express myself fully on air blessed be [ESKARENA1]
Glad you like this discussion...hehee...in real life I'm a nicely spoken person too...oh, if people could see me now in front of the computer...they'd think I had split personalities...LOL [pyewacket]

Ya i do some times get annoyed when my net connection sucks and also when i format my PC...Usually till now i encountered with these problems...Yaa at the end of the day after performing all the activities with my PC i feel that really i am glad that a computer cant talk back to us...:)) [vani24]
There actually are computers designed to talk, for those who are sight-impaired..but glad ours don't [pyewacket]

Oh yes am I verbal with my computer! When it's slow, when people I'm talking to online are being stupid, when I can't type well, when I'm losing at online games, when I'm just in a bad mood altogether... my poor computer just gets a tongue-lashing! Good thing it can't talk back to me! I'm actually having to start learning to watch my language while on the computer, because I don't want my son to get potty-mouth from me! While I am always very careful about cursing around him in general, sometimes when I'm on the computer and he's playing on his own I might not think about it enough! I just know he's going to learn all kinds of words I really don't want him repeating if I'm not careful! =p [lecanis]

I talk to it all the time lol I am always saying " I have done that" or " do you think I'm daft "lol my son knows all about them and when he asks " mam who are you talking to " I laugh and say this damn computer , he says I don't know why you take to it because it is an inanimate object , but it makes me feel better lol xxx [weemam]

haha, first of all truck drivers dont blush. One of them lives in the neighbourhood so I think I know. Sometimes I am verbal when I get too many unwanted pop ups. But yes the computer talks back to me in the program hanging itself up sometimes thats computers sweet revenge for being called a dumb machine. [book1962]

Thank God you use the word "verbal" instead of "oral". if it was "Are You Oral With Your Computer" that would sound real kinky. [sandwedge]

I am extremely bad that my computer can't talk back. Or call the police for the amount of verbal abuse I put it though. My computer acting up is one of the few times that I still swear. [morgandrake]

Yes, i admit i verbally abuse my computer, but sometimes my computer won't listen! It will get slow when i say faster, it will freeze when i want it to load etc. LOL! I have some select names for my computer and yes i'm glad my computer can't talk back! Take care Pyewacket. [budsr03]
Hehe--and like me, I bet none of those names are ones you can write here..LOL [pyewacket]

As I opened this discussion, my husband is sitting next to me snickering. I guess he knows what I'm going to say and if I didn't he'd probably get on and say it for me himself. But I will be the first one to yell at my computer, and make noises at it, when Im in the middle of a game and it goes wrong. I used to have a computer that used to snore, the hard drive would make noise so I had a rubber mallet that I would just bang it with and it would stop.... But yes I am very verbal with my computer. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]

Hello pyewacket I am the perfect gentleman with my computer. I always open the door for it before I throw it into the hyard for its insubordination!! You know, I so often forget to say kind words to it when it's working well, but when it makes a mistake (never operator error) I am quick to point out its problems!! I wonder, am I married to it? [Transdisc]

Oh my God, it is so funny that you would ask this. I do this all the time and it is kind of embarrassing. I am very impatient, so when my computer is slow, I go, "Come on you stupid piece of crap. You better work or I am gonna throw you out the window." While I am saying all of this, I am pounding on the enter button and clicking the mouse like a psycho, it is really pretty funny, but sad, sad, sad. [Rozie37]

LOL...I can be VERY verbal with this computer! I don't curse at it, because that's not something that I do. However, I threaten it with a sledge hammer on a pretty regular basis. Mostly it's when it does something stuid, not when I do. The worst is when I'm right in the middle of something, and the computer just randomly decides to completely restart itself, for no reason. A close second is when whatever program I'm working with at the time shuts down for no reason. [TeresaK]

Oh definately, my ones at home arn't too bad, but the one at work has problems somedays, it goes so slow and then sometimes won't boot properly and I have to go into safe mode, which can take forever to sort out - I always threaten to turn it into a train and chuck it on the railway track (My office is on a station). I usually curse myself if it's typo's thinking my fingers have gone dyslexic.. [Bizziebod]

I am sitting sideways with my feet up on a stool with the key board on my lap with my avatar picture kitty sitting on my lap on my arms. I tried to put her on my legs but she insists on sitting above the keyboard so she is arms. She is purring and such a lover but you could guess what my typing is like. I do not let go and trash talk in the form of cussing or sex talk on the computer, I refuse to read it also. I do voice my opinion and find it easier to disagree with someone by the written word if I do not have to face them. [teapotmommommerced]

Sometimes I do, yes. I am glad most of the time there is no one in the house to hear me. [Thoroughrob]

It is a really good thing that my computer cant talk back!! I am very verbal with my computer! Especially when it is slow or the IE locks up while I am in the middle of something. I have cussed it,threatened it and even tried to negotiate with it. I swear my computer is just like my husband It only listens to what it wants to hear, it only works when i dont really need to get something done, and when I do NEED it to work it crashes! [zukepr]

Welllllllllll ..... I have to admit that I am certainly guilty of that lol quite often these last few Days I have had Problems with this Computer and it has not heard nice things from me believe me [gabs8513]

Humm...well to be honest I wouldn't say I'm that well-behaved. Though I try my best... But to answer your question - OH YES do I get down right sailor-isk with my language when either of our computers starting acting goofy. It was much worse though when we had dial up internet connection. And even worse when we had AOL as our server with our dial-up because we were ALWAYS getting kicked off. But those days are long gone thankfully...and since we've gotten our Dell desktop it's not been so bad either. As a matter of fact either my connection right now is being slow or mylot is one. And it's making me a bit frustrated. [GnosticGoddess]
Luckily I use firefox which does that automatically. And that wouldn't be the problem anyway if just one site is running slow - which was the problem the other day. Plus I'm using a wireless connection and at times the connection is a little off. Thanks for the advice but I do a few things about computers and how to keep them running smoothly :) [GnosticGoddess]

I am so glad my computer can't talk back. I can talk like a sailor (or truck driver) to it when it acts up, and I'm sure glad no one is usually around when I'm ranting and raving. My husband gets a kick out of hearing almost screaming coming from my home office at times. He knows I'm talking to the computer and not to anyone else. However, I will try to remember to praise it when it does good...LOL. [claudia413]
Well the only ones that hear my rantings and ravings are my two kitties..wonder what they think at times.. [pyewacket]

Hi, Yourcomputer might not talk back to you but It does communicate with you on different things, someimes it tries to do what it wants to do I get mad at my computer sometimes, when I can't get it right, I just shoukd it down, because I don't have the patience. [marciascott]
I think a lot of us don't have patience with our computers..LOL [pyewacket]

You hit the nail square on the head! I often times get angry and talk negatively with my computer- Darn you computer- Can't you go any faster- Or why isn't this opening up?? Drives me crazy- Usually at work I call the IT guys and say this darn thing isn't working- After I have spoken to it several times- lol I'm super glad it doesn't speak back- or tell on me! [KrisNY]
