i use cavi-wipes lol. they kill bacteria, and you just swipe them over. for the screen, i use a cloth that came with the computer meant for that purpose. i usually do about once a week at least, unless i feel or notice it needs it sooner. I build my own computers, so I don't have to worry about voiding a warranty if I open up the case. The first thing that I do is make sure that my PC isn't in an enclosed area where dust can easily collect. I keep the area clean on a regular basis in order to limit dustiness and I clean the inside of my computers every couple of months. I remove all fans and wipe them down. Because I clean regularly, and there isn't much dust inside my case anyway, a can of compressed air will suffice. Cheers. happy [bayernfan]

If you mean to clean the dust off of it and finger marks I usually clean it as needed. I use a windex type cleaner. If you mean to clean out the files in the system I usually delete the temporary internet files when the computer gets really slow. [seabeauty]

I say twice or thrice a week. I am using Tune-Up Utilities, WinUtilities, Advance System Care 3 and ATF Cleaner. I run these programs for cleaning my computer's temorary files, fixing and deleting unnecessary registry, and other functions. It also defrag your hard disk drive which will maximize the speed of your computer. IO run my 3 anti-virus for security purposes because it is also part of cleaning my computer. The last is running norton ghost for back up my drive c. In case of system failure, I have an image file of my drive c: and ready to restore. [emojboy]
I clean my computer a day. I clean the dust on my keyboard using mini vacuum. This mini vacuum is good to clean dust on keyboard even in the cooling fan. I can't clean registry because I am not sure what files to delete..lol..I'm running my anti-virus twice a week, and I have no problem about virus. I want to answer on where to get free download? i clean my desktop by running all my spyware and adware programs. I clean my cookies and cache by using CCleaner... I try and do it weekly but sometimes i forget. i need to do it now probably. i haven't done it in about a week i think. sometimes i do it more often. just depends on what i've been doing. [sameroad]
I've heard that you can buy some cleaning kit for computers and I'm not sure with this, but we try to check the shops here, but they don't have. I run the CCleaner every night before shutting down the laptop, except when I forgot. happy [CJay77]
I very rarely ever clean the computer. I would suggest that to keep your computer clean that you save the clear wrapper from the Sunday paper and put it around the keyboard. This way, if you spill coffee or tea on the keyword it will not get inside the keys of the keyboard and ruin it. All you have to do is run a paper towel over the keyboard to remove the liquid. I learned about this the hard way a few years ago when I ruined my keyboard by spilling coffee upon it and having to go get a new keyboard. [albert2412]
I have a computer at my place. I am cleaning it regularly. I am cleaning it with a peace of cloth. As far as internal parts are concerned I am dusting it with a slight flight from the same cloth. I think it may clean most of the dust. [rakesh284]
I usually clean it when it is turned off. I take a damp cloth and wipe it down. I usually do it once a week for the keyboard and monitor as it seems to get muck marks on it regularly. Once, my laptop was too untidy, I unplugged it and used damp tisse and started scrubbing off the things that weren't suppose to be there like accumulated dusts. Took a while before it seemed clean enough. After that, I would always have this cloth close by so before and after use, I would wipe the laptop clean as much as I can. I also try to clean the desktop as regular as possible too but, I am more on the laptop right now as I don't want to consume too much electricity since bills are getting high.. (^_^") [ratyz5]

I clean my laptop when I see the need to do it. It usually depends on what I see. When the lcd is dusty, I wipe it out. I used a 3m cloth that it specially designed to absorb dust instead of transferring fibers to the area that I wipe. Well, my lappy rerely gets dirty because i always put my lappy back into its case. I understand some people find that troublesome but to avoid getting dust all over it, i'd rather pack it all up. But i do keep this soft pad which serves at a cleaner. My friend bought it for me at a computer sho. It's really useful because the dust really do stick on it...^_^ [mira91]

I dust it as often as I should. But I clean the innards twice a year. By the way I use a desktop. When I clean its internal parts I clean even the fans especially the fan of the processor. I also disconnect the wires and dust off the motherboard. Aside in cleaning its hardware I also discard files that I no longer need and keep my anti-virus updated. My desktop is five years old and still works properly. By the way I also reformat it every year. That should keep your computer in good shape. [katkat]
This discussion will serve as a good reminder to clean my computers. I dont really have a routine of cleaning my computer. Once it has enough of dust on it I just wipe it off. I use a LCD cleaner to clean the screen. On average I clean it twice a month. I clean my laptop more often though, mainly because it travels with me sometimes and gets dusty quickly. [Mac6999]
I'm cleaning my computer whenever i have the chance. I'm just using Ccleaner for fast and easy clean up. I do some scandisk from time to time and defragmentation too. I free up some space whenever there are video files which i am done watching. I'm just using a 40 gigabyte of harddisk so i guess it's pretty easy to clean unlike newer computers now with as high as terabytes of space. That's a lot but that would be great. lol! [modstar]

Hi acmepride I clean the monitor with the soft cloth that came with Laptop. I don,t find much dust accumulating on my Laptop. But it is not the case with my PC.I use a small brush to clean the Keyboard. I clean the rest of my PC with a soft cloth.Sometimes I use some soap water. I clean my computer after 6 month & i use some usefull tools like blower or dry cotton clothes and some chamicals to clean. It is very good to clean computer becasue so much dust can generate heating problems, & computer gets hang. [net_ankit]

Everyday still it got dirty either with the dust or crums in keyboard or somthing like that. Then i just left it one day. I got so bored cleaning when i know its of no use. Haha . we clean our computers (we have 10) everyday, from the mouses to the monitors and clean the cpu's inside at least every two weeks, brush the MB, remove and clean the memory stick with brush and eraser. Keyboard gets a wipedown every week or two; I try to keep it clean & wipe off the oil from the fingers. The rest of the case gets much less frequent cleaning. I clean the physical parts of my Desktop computers once in every four months as it is highly important to maintain them clean as the bacterias and germs that are present in our keyboard is 100 times greater than the bacterias and germs that are present in our toilet. The case is much worser when it comes to laptop and it requires regular cleaning. I have 3 steps for cleaning my laptop. 1) I get a can of compressed air (should be available from your local pc store or you can get it online) and I give a quick burst of air into the fan area of the laptop. 2) Next I get a post it note and insert the sticky side in between the keys and slide it left and right. You will be shocked at how much dirt you get out by doing this. 3) With a screen wipe I give the keyboard and all the casing a wipe over to remove greasy finger prints and general dirt. I do all this basically once a week, but generally give the keyboard a wipe over at least every other day. [thedailyclick]

I regularly clean my computer/s on a monthly basis, more or less. For major cleaning, I use cotton with alcohol and use that to swipe the dust off, from keyboard to monitor, and mouse. Recently, I discovered this new way of cleaning up the keys from the keyboard. It's a lot easier and gets rid off the tiniest particles in between the keys. It was advised by a friend's friend friend, so on. LOL It's like a spray can that sorta uses air/liquid stuff and spray at the keystrokes. There are many brands available at computer stores. I don't know though if it's available in all countries but I bought mine from USA. One I'm currently using is called Perfect Duster. Any brand would do as they serve the same purpose. [MariaD]

Well, i will mostly refer to the laptop that i use in my room so here goes: the screen, i clean it with a clean soft tissue, with antistatic spray especially designed for electronic screen surfaces. To clean the dirt from the keyboard, i turn it upside down and shake it well (of course, with the laptop turned off). I haven't opened the inside of it yet, but i might just do soon... perhaps it will help the fans to heat less. [elitess]

I use this cloth that 3M is selling that collects dust fast and does not scratch glasses and screens. It was made especially for computers, laptops and cellphones. but I don't clean my computer that often. I guess I always get too pre-occupied with other things. Unless I see that the screen is already hard to read because of the dust, i don't act on it hehe [silverglint]
