Nowadays just for a simple calculation also we use near by computer. i forgot when last i counted or multiplied some big numbers by using my memory. if we want to remember something for one day, we just open a notepad and write it down, so that, notepad will remind us for that, or we set mail alert to remind us on that topics. one day will come when we our next generation will not be knowing how to add to two numbers. they will fed the numbers into computer, computer will give them answer.

It really depends on what your using the computer for. I rarely use it as a calculator. Heck, in most cases it couldn't do my problems without a complicated formula or program being set in first. Its easier for me to just do it mentally. I actually use it to increase my brainpower. Try doing puzzles like sodoku or crosswords on it. I doubt that we will every stop teaching arithmetic in grade school. As we gain new technology, I think the kids will need to take more and more math classes - we will still need people to develop computer programs. We had calculators when I was in middle school but the teachers always made us learn how to find solutions by hand first, at least until I got into pre-calculus when some functions became very inefficient to do by hand. There will probably be more GUI's in the future so there might be less punching in of code, but I don't think things will get simpler - we will probably get more options that will confuse us (future) old fogeys. I think you are right to a certain extent. But I actually enjoy doing math sums and often forget to open the calcultor program on the computer to do some simple math problems as long as it isn't anything that I cannot work out on paper myself or unless it is an awful lot of figures that need adding together. I actually do some math every day because I like to write down the figures of money that I make from each online program that I am in, and then add them up so that I have a good idea of what kind of money I've made for the day. Fortunately I belong to the generation of people who have seen it all. When I was well into my College days Computer started ruling the world.
