I have friends that has computer in their home but no internet connection. They said that they use it only for games, printing and typing . For me ,I feel that it is uses for i cannot do things in the computer without it. sad

So as u said u cnt do these things without Internet first of all Computer is used in all over world even without intenet means to access PC internet connection i not a must we can propely use it without internet with lots o software Many of MNC companies using it. butw in some u r also rite me agree with dat point also bcoz internet is not must be dere bt deze its also very important of a computer freak. so indeed me gree wid u also internet is major area of IT arena even we can properly use our pcwithout NET btinternet is also very ipmortant for our daily routine life. I use computer because of the internet, I am always online, so when their is no internet connection, i cant use the computer. It doesnt mean that computer will be uses without internet you can still use it but in a limited way, you cannot explore or do some researh. thanks for responding.happy [Margarit]
I can't imaging myself spening a sigle day without loggin on the internet and what i've realised is that it goes with addiction, once you are addicted to it and finding useful information online....there is no turning back.I have the slowest internet connection but i find it hard not to log to net.I think your friends if they can have the connection to the net and they will e addicted too and once addicted there is no turnong back for the fun of it. hi its true that a computer without internet connection is not much used. they use the computers without a net connection for the data entry works. but nowadays no computer is without a internet connection. for all the searches and learning too we need a internet connection. so its must to have a internet connection when we own a computer. that will be used for many purposes and for surfing and all we cant go to other places [vinkam]

Yea,the same here~everytime on biz trip with my laptop,I will always find a way out to connect the internet,to see what happend out there around the world,to check my email,to post in mylot as well`~wow``I just can non bear a signle pc without internet~however,that was the case during my college times~~when we can only played pc games with pc~~hah`~have a nice lotting day~ [tonytt2009]

Hey there! Well, there was a time when we all didn't have the convenience of having an internet connection. It did work pretty well right? Most of us were contented in having DOS games such as commander keen and doing our projects in Word Star or Lotus 1-2-3. lol And even Local Area Network are rare to find at that time. Well, that's technology for us. The internet revolutionized a lot of things. It sped up improvements on lots of products and services, especially innovations as we are all interconnected and exchange of ideas are as simple as typing and clicking. And I have the same situation before when I was in India for a year, I have laptop and no internet and its fine to just play games or do some other things that I can. hey i can give better explanation for u, even i have frens who have computers at their home and feel the same as ur friend felt,they feel like that because they have never tasted the flavour of internet and they never knoe what is the power of internet so obviously they are ignorants so they will refuse to accept that internet is great and they see to pass the time without any internet connection [aditya540]
Hi friend, I dont think they are ignorant for they always come to my house and use my computer because it has internet connection. Well, I also didn't have an internet connection an year ago and didn't feel much bad about not having it. I never really used the computer much, but later as studies grew tough I had to get one and now I can't live if I do not have internet for even a day. It's just the amount of time you spend with it that makes you have an opinion about it. If you really connect to many people over the internet, then it sure is a hard time to live without an internet connection, but if you do not have a connection, then you won't really feel the pinch of not having one. bournehappy [bournecaindelta]

Now i will feel bad if computer without internet connection,but it doesn't mean that i can't do anything,there was no internet when the first computer was invented,it was invented for arithmetic,the internet show as the development of computer.When i own my first computer,i have no money to connect internet,i used it to play games and watch movies and learn...But now if i have no internet connection i will be mad because i can't visit mylot,and i don't search any resource what i need,it is bad for working.If there is really no internet,i think i will be used to,just i need some times,it just turn back original situation. I use my internet everyday it is an outlet to the outside world. It is very valuable. it is a necessity to increase my income when I am away from my fulltime job. I can take surveys, read emails, etc. When I am at work I can not do these things so I mustbe able to do it afterwork. I could not imagine not being able to do things at home on the internet. I do not know if I could live with a computer that did not have an internet connection because it would be hard to get by just playing games,typing stuff and printing,especially since me and my fiance are having trouble finding a job right now due to the shape of the economy,and the fluctuating gas prices,and we depend on the internet to help us make money,especially since we are in the middle of planning or wedding,which is set for September of next year. I think that the Internet is one of the main reasons for owning a computer. OK, it's useful for word processing and database work, but not many people have much use for those things if they are not running a business. HI Margarit, during those earlier days when I know nothing much about internet I did use my desktop doing what your friends are used to do at home when I don't have network. Nowadays I have found lot of fun surfing net as well as doing mylot posting here. To me a computer without connection is just like being without life and soul or an insect without its antennae. Hi subha12, I my case we have the previlage to have internet connection at home for it is free subcription from the computer we bought so i have all the access to the web. But there are times that the internet connection is not available and it last atleast 3 to 5 day the longest i think. I feel so bore for i dont like to use computer without it. I used to have a computer like tha t. Well actually it was my dad's computer. The first computer that he bout did not have internet connection and I do not think it he ever considered that an option. We all used to play games on it and print things out but there is no way that I could even think about having a computer with no internet connection now. What 20 years can really show you huh? I remember enjoying my computer before the internet became widely available. It was nice to be able to do reports and letters, to be able to edit, save and print multiple copies...instead of having to use a typewriter. I also had 2 or 3 games, that I played a lot, and enjoyed. Could I go back to that now? Probably not. One gets too used to having readily available information, news, chat and unlimited games at your fingertips. When there is disruption in the internet service (weather), it drives me crazy...lol. I think that it depends on your friend's preference. There are still things you can do even without internet. Watch movies, design, play PC games, listen to music etc. If they're worried about the cost of DSL they could try pre-paid dial-up connection just for browsing to get information. There are also pre-paid DSL connections but it costs more than dial up and it also has strict lock-in periods. [BlueCupcake]

I know there are people without internet, and I am actually ancient enough at age 54 to remember a world without the net. :-) But now I do not think I could live without my connection to the world. I mean, putting aside the social aspect of it, just for the access to news and information. I think it is great. Of course, there are people with the mindset that if the information is on the internet it must be true, but it is not. You still have to be careful to weed out the junk from the facts. I am glad I discovered this whole new world, and can see myself older and grayer sitting in a nursing home behind my laptop, just chatting away. [Marie5656]
That kinda defeats the purpose of having a PC. There are still a few free internet providers out there. You may not have 24/7 connection but a few hours a day is better than nothing. Even AOL will give you a free trial. That would drive me crazy. It's like having a TV without any electric to turn it on. But then again maybe they like it that way... [Kowgirl]

Being connected to the internet is very important to many of us now a days, but there are still people who cannot afford the expense. I can understand that as, if I didn't need to have it for work, and my son for school things, I am not sure I could justify the expense on our present income. There are certain things you have to give up when incoming salary is low. Hopefully your friends will be able to get online soon. [quinnkl]
