I think I have some but not sure, something popped up from Microsoft telling me I have Viruses and to downlad this one program, then down at the bottom of the page it said don't download it, it keeps popping up. so I just deleted it, My grand children was downloading a lot of stuff on my computer, That why I don't like my Grands to get on Computer, because everytime, my computer just start acting very weird. And I know that I have some Virues, I guess I will wait and Let my Avast scan my Computer, and It will be ok, I think?

I dont really get alot of virus because of the internet but yes because of the pens i have to use at school and the computers there are full of virus but i have 3 anti virus programs on my computer so i think that it is safe for now. [Absinto]
Actually in my opinion, Absinto, you are quite unsafe! You should only have ONE anti-virus program installed on your computer. Choose the best and ditch the other 2. Having more than 1 program increases the chance of destabilizing your system and you might introduced software conflict and corruption of program, bringing about the early, untimely demise of your computer. Use more than 1 anti-virus program at your own risk... this is one area where more is not better... [lordwarwizard]
I have protection from viruses and anti spyware.I wouldn't take a risk to go online without it,because your computer will definately crash. That happened to me in the past when I didn't know too much about computers.I went through three of them, they all crashed .I didn't know I needed to download software to protect the computer.I learned from crashing them. Those computers didn't even last long at all.At least they weren't good computers. Now I own a brand new one and I downloaded software in it. [skylight53]
I was using Avst,it was free for 60 dys, I swithed to, AVG. [marciascott]
Hi honey, Thankfully no. I didn't get any virus, not any that I am aware of. rasp Why would you get popup messages from Microsoft concerning viruses anyway? Unless you are talking about the Windows update malware scan, then Microsoft doesn't have a virus scanner! I would suggest you fire up your anti-virus program, update to the latest virus definitions and run a scan. Then, you can be more sure if you have any virus in your computer and the anti-virus program might possibly be able to help you kill the viruses if any. I suspect what you encounter it from surfing some malicious websites showing banners that hope to deceive you into downloading viruses (instead of genuinely removing them). So... try the scan like I suggested above. happy [lordwarwizard]
Hey I still haven't seen you are you alright? I hope so. [marciascott]
hi marcia! DON"T EVER CLICK A POP UP!! and yeah run your avast. It won't hurt and it will help. I got a virrus that wiped out my pc on April 1st.cryI had already lost everything on there in January from a virus or something and again in March when my hard drive failed and had to install a new one. Believe me, you don't want to lose everything on your pc! [tammyr]
All is well here now that I have my puter fixed!! hee hee, hope you are doing wonderfully [tammyr]
i did not get anything. even if there had been hacking attempts or virus got sent to my pc, it did not affect my pc, as the fireall and good antivirus program is installed [user_786]
I used to get that window popping up all the time... it's a virus my friend. Don't touch it! Mine disappeared eventually but I don't know whether it was down to my security or what. However, I'm happy to see it gone! lol. Brightest Blessings, my friend. [Darkwing]
You're welcome, my friend. Somehow, it seems to slip through the blockers. [Darkwing]
hi marcia, i do get alot of spyware on my laptop which slows it down, the last virus i had killed my other laptop....someone had sent it to me deliberately because of a debate i had with them...how horrid....it shut my whole system down and i had to go and buy a new laptop, this person has been banned from contacting me now, why do these people do this...are they retards or what? [tattylashes]
hi marcia, i have jusr re invited you, but i didn't really need to cozy couch seems fine, your name is still in the members list, so maybe ning were doing work on my page, ignore the invite and keep trying, you should get in soon.... [tattylashes]
Sure !!. You do the right thing. We alywas pay attention to any kind of downloaded media, buat children just clicking. As long as your Avast protect your computer, it will be O.Kay. Just for refference, I'm using AVG 8.5, it's free to use. [herrygs]
Welcome to AVG world, hope you can find the best protection with it. (I hope so,there always new varian viruses come out in hours) [herrygs]
Sounds like a adware/spyware promblem got on your computer. Your grandchildren were on sites that they had no business being on (not neccesarily inappropriate for young people). Adware/Spyware either attach themselves to downloaded programs (through p2p sites or whatever) or through tracking cookies dropped by sites that are visited. That is why it is always a good idea to delete your cookies, especially if you payed for something online because your financial information will remain in the cookies and can be accessed. As for me, I let my anti-virus program get rid of any funny business and it usually prevents me from going onto attack sites. I did get a few trojans, but is because I download a lot but they are all gone now. [LiveLove]
That is how you get them from downloading diferent things. [marciascott]
Most of the computers get virus from internet.Me too got the same thing, some program popped up and asked me to install the program,i installed it and it started scanning the system,it showed 2000 virus programs in a single disk.after sometime i saw that name which i installed into my computer,i found that itself is a virus program. It spread across my whole drives. Then i formated the system first and scanned with avast and again formatted the whole system to work properly. The virus i got is "Antivirusxp2000".Very dangerous. [springs]
wow, you've a great experience, I'm affraid to face that problem in the future. Formatiing the system is the best solution to clean the virus but how about our document and data? no one can replace our document, right? [herrygs]
I love to get virus on my computer because you get to learn too much from them about how a OS works. I can remove a lot of virus myself without any anti virus software. I don't use a anti virus software because they slow down my PC. To make sure that you are not attacked by a virus you need to follow a a small set of precautions like never clicking on popups, never visiting bad websites, always checking out for bad programs. [firstsite2008]
around 1 week ago, virus attack my computer after i download freeware, it seem a trojan varian, although i use antivirus i forget to activate auto update on it, im sure thats my own mistake, i know nobody want make any mistake in this life, also iam, because i wont regret later. now i decide that i must reseach before decide or take action to do something, the source can be anywhere, like from my friend, family, other people, book, website, television, newspaper, etc.., also i try to look closer and deeper use heart and head, then try to look from the opposite view not only from mine, i hope then i can make a good decision that doesnt end to bad result, I hope your or my experience become good information source for other reader (especially myloter). [galihhs]
I caught a virus 2 years ago from my system. That means I am free from viruses since two years. Do you know how? I switched to Linux. Everybody knows that Linux is virus free and therefore it provides a safe and secure environment for computing. For my friends, I suggest Linux Operating system as it has become more user friendly than before. Moreover, you can run both Microsoft Windows as well as GNU/Linux on the same PC without any problem so that you can fulfill your needs and at the same time, you can have a virus free computing also. [mohamedthoufeeq]
We had something similar yesterday with our computer too. We have Norton 360 on it and we ran a scan with that and everything is back to normal now... Hope is all works out for you! [rocketj1]
my computer always infected by virus.so that i use antivirus.the name is nod 32.it great antivirus.why dont use deep freze?so if anything happen to you system computer will not save it.so if you restart the computer will be normal again [venmarz13]
tha6's for information. My AVG is working fine, have a nce week-end! [marciascott]
Hi,marciascott! If you do have some viruses, then you should check it out and delete them,or your account information may spread.I use Avira Antivru, and it works well.So far,I have never had any viruse on my computer. Have a nice day! [hxstar]
I hope your computer is ok. I don't let my 17 yr. old granddaughter on my computer, I can't trust her. I let the younger boys on, I know what they are doing and I can trust them. My granddaughter screwed my computer up before, thats why I don't let her get on it. I tell her its a PC, thats means Personal Computer, that means mine. She has screwed up others peoples computers before too. Plus she likes getting on myspace and you have to becareful there, you can pick up virusis. [Polly1]
That is where it came from I believe. That is why I don't let them get on much, they screw it up every time. [marciascott]
Ugh, About 2 months ago I had one so bad that I had to clear out everything and start over. I am using Avira and it seems to work well. I wish you the best! [Jenniferp]
A couple of weeks ago I got a virus that wiped out my whole windows program.. I lost everything. I have no idea how it happed. I have security programs and didnt dowload anything or go on any sites that I usually dont go on. It happened on my laptop and only I use it so I know that no one else in my family did something. I hate when Virus attack the computer.. It aggravates me [luvmysons]
No, luckily I have been protected. I have no virus. [OreoCookie3]
What you should do is to have it scan the computer at a certain time each day and it will be fine. That pop up may be an advertisement that wants you to get their specific antivirus. What they will do is to tell you to download their program and it will scan through your whole system but in order to get rid of the viruses, you have to buy the full version. So it was rise not to download it, or you would be in more serious trouble. [suspenseful]
I was going to download it but my computer said don't download it. [marciascott]
It will be okay if you are using the latest updated AVAST. Otherwise there will be a problem my friend. Well, I am lucky that I didn't get caught with any viruses in last three months, I think it is because I am using symantec anti-virus which is being provided by my internet service provider. Once my computer gets infected with them I have no choic but to format it! [sanuanu]
I believe your grandchildren are sensible enough to know the danger of viruses? They can wipe out the files, destroy the hard disk and worse steal personal information. So it's important to teach them about the dangers if they are still unaware. Anti virus may not be able to remove some viruses, though it may identify them, and to clean up everything needs time. [naka75]
I don't know a lot about Computers. So I can't teach them. [marciascott]
I installed anti-virus programs for my computer. And it seems that I haven't got the virus for a long time:) I love China [youless]

Well it's very common to be infected as long as you're always or often online. Anti Viruses are not 100% virus safe but can be 100% virus free.. All you have to do is to make sure that your antivirus engine is always updated and try to scan as often as possible. I'm scanning my computer on an every other day basis to avoid crashing and I haven't formatted since I purchase this so it's over 2 years now.. [paoxav]
Ok I will do that thanks for you input! Have a nice day! [marciascott]
my computer its safe from virus cause i use Kaspersky anti virus its so strong to delete virus but my anti virus almost over the permit and i must buy it again from kaspersky but if want free try symantec anti virus its good to but its take long time to update their database. [tonibanzai]
As I am answering this I just got a pop up from my computer protection they just removed a Trojan. It does seem like lately there are more viruses. Maybe it just me but my brother had to buy a new computer b/c he got one. I restored my whole computer b/c I got one and I added a protection plan on my moms b/c she had one. I find that signing up for the updates that the computer sends to you don't help at all and my computer messes up alot of times with it. [mflower2053]
I get those all the time. I do have Avast, I am hoping that it helps. [marciascott]
I don't get a lot of virus threats on my computer, I also don't have a antivirus protection program right no w either so it's probably a good thing. Tell your grandkids not to download anything when they get on your computer or they may not have one to get on soon. You might want to look at cleaning it out and getting a bunch of stuff you don't use off of it. I bet there's a lot of stuff that is slowing it down. [csrobins]
I just got AVG, installled. [marciascott]
I have seen something simular. a page poped up on my computer and told me I had a viris and other probmems in various files. It was desiged to look like the doumnets page of windows xp. but i knew this could not be ture so I closed it out. This has happen to me a couple of times while broseing some site, the site I think is from outsite the U.S. I think that is some kind of scam and you should not dowload it. [scififan43]
As far as I know I haven't picked up any but I do have an program that is set to run every night automatically while I am asleep and it seems to be working since I don't seem to have any problems...that I know!ninja [greeneyedlady]
I had it with my old computer, everything got kind of screwed up, and my computer crashed, zi was going to get it fixed, but I ended up getting a new Computer, a Compac H.P. and they had Norton on it for 60 days, now I have Avast. it is only for 60 days, but I have had it for a month already. Thanks for input! [marciascott]
yeap, my pc got infected by Trojans so many times, but luckily can be fixed using AVG Anti-Virus program. It's good that you have Avast on your pc, just use it to clear off all the viruses. [gina009]
Welcome to mylot that is what I am trying to do. [marciascott]
no thank god no viruses lately, I did write an article on conflicker though, [winterose]
Oh, Ok, I do remember now. I am going back to bed now! I will chat later on. [marciascott]
hi marciascott, It is very dangerous if your computer will get viruses that will delete all your files, does your grands knows how to clean your virus? Try to let them clean it so that you will not have a problem next time you use your computer and it is much safer :D Good day :D [mlegendr]
I don't think they know how, I sm going to learn how to do it myself. Thanks for input. I do have Avast. Lately I haven't seen any pop-ups so maybe they it did the Job, hopefully! [marciascott]
Hi there Marcia Scott. I have had some recent pests - a rather nasty malware that was changing my search engine (in the top right of Firefox) that wouldn't go out easily, but i managed to kick it out and now i am back to my good old antivirus that kept me safe for the last 3 years - i was trying symantec for a change, as it was recommended to my by a good friend, but since i wasn't satisfied, i returned to my previous one. [elitess]
that good now you have no more prolems, I think I might go back to AVG. [marciascott]
yeah i just scanned my computer last month and surprisingly....my computer contain lots of trojan..im not really sure from where my computer got it i really dont download anything from the net...so im not quiet sure where my computer got those....but glady i have anti malware...ehehe to detect if my pc has one...and that day my antimal just detected something so i scanned my computer really quick... [pitstryke]
Seems like you know how to keep your Computer together, Sometimes you can ge a Virues just by someone emailing you something, and maybe they don't even know they are sending you one. [marciascott]
This happened to my mum on her computer not so long ago. She had a message from microsoft saying the same thing but she did not have an anti virus and so downloaded it and it was a virus and infected her computer. It cost her a lot of money to have it all sorted out as well. [gemini_rose]
I didn't open it, well, at firt I did and I thought about it, because My Computer said at the bottom of the page, do not download it so I didn't thank God I didn't. have agood day! + [marciascott]
Thank God i dont have any virues. My son sdvises me never to let anyone use my computer. I trust his advise. They can go to your favorites and try to log in on anything you have saved or like your grandkids downloads stuff. If you do any shopping online they can go and buy something under your account. [jdyrj777]
yeah i too have had virus on my computer due to my cousin coming in and using my computer for my space and etc. That's why I don't like anyone using the computer because by catching virus the computer start to crash on the long run. If the virus is bad it can corrupt your whole windows and we have to reprogrammed the whole window all over again. Virus is very sensitive issue and can easily get into the computer even when you have the anti virus software. Yet it all depends on the brand of anti virus and its coverage. [schoenmaker143]
I finally got my AVG back. [marciascott]
Downloading something from the internet is really risky specially if you don't know that someone is downloading something from the net without your knowledge. I think I also have some in my computer I just scan it later. My computer has been running a little slow so there might be some virus in its system. [AltheGreat2430]
That is when you know you have Virues, When you computer runs slow you do have a Virues, another theing, do you delete your cookies? A Newscaster on t.V. said that years ago, always delete cookes, I don't know hpw true it is, but I do that sometimes, and if you have other windows open that makes your computer slow too. Thanks for input have a nice weekend! [marciascott]
I have no grands, marcia, but my kids manage to tangle up my computers quite often. I just got a laptop at Christmas and it is lock up tighter than a drum with some fierce virus. I generally use my desktop while my 17 & 20 yr old kids use the laptop. I told them I am not paying to have this one fixed; this is a recurring problem that pops up about every 3 to 6 months. I spent enough last year repairing computers to have purchased a new system. This time the kids are on their own, the bank of mom is closed. LOL! [roberten]
I know exactly what you mean, the Kids seem to screw p computer downloading different this it happens everytime, the My grandchildren thinks that I am being funny for not letting them get on my computer, I just had my computer guy come in and do a lot of stuff. so I should be ok, he downwd A>V>G, it suppose to scan my computer every day, like at 3:00am, so it should be find now. thanks for you input. [marciascott]
i get virus frequently, but i update my anti virus everyday . it keeps all the virus un effected. [prakash77]
I even got extra protection on it. Another anti virues, they scans it in secs. [marciascott]
The programs I have are eset nod 32 internet security, and spybot search and destroy. The best thing is to do is ignore the pop ups that say that a person downloads some program, as this will require extra money paid on a program that makes the problem worse. The way to get rid of the viruses is use a reputable program in safe mode. [costas1234]
Yes I know that, I do't think I will hae anymore problems. [marciascott]
One month back my computer was infected with virus and i tried to delete them but failed so i went to computer specialist and he formated my computer. Now iam using kaspersky and it is the best antivirus software for me. I experienced many problems when my computer got infected. My internet explore shutdown automatically and some times my pc shutdowns automatically and some times it restarts. [chimrani]
I use to get that all the time they would say error, and it would have a Exclamation mark. Then there is something you do , but I forgot. I am not that keen on Computers, I had Avant, and my Computer Guy installed AVG again. [marciascott]
well i have got a thousand of them... really cant get rid of these viruses these days.... [moon317318]
Hey I haven't heard from you What's up in Pakistan? I hope things are better there now. [marciascott]
I hesitate to answer this but I am very careful about my computer. It is not connected to a large network and like most people I don't use floppy discs anymore so the risk is low. [Canellita]
Sorry for replying so late, but someone else had replied after 5 days so I am back. Yes, Be carefuul so yu don't get any Viruses. Have a great day1 [marciascott]
Hi there,I'm using the Mcafee~recently,I would say it's perfect!BUT I think it's some viruses on my laptop for a long time as I can not access to the internet using directly the model~~As a matter of lazy,I don't go and check with the sale untill now~~blush Happy lotting everyday~~ [tonytt2009]
Hi, AVG for me rught now My Computer Guy just installled it about a week ago. No problems what so ever. Have a great day! [marciascott]
I got a virus on my computer a few months ago; www.ziddu.com, one of those pages that pays the users every time others download the files the user have uploaded was hacked. I was active in this website, visit it and got a virus. My computer started acting weird too and it was running extremely slow. And if this weren´t bad enough, my antivirus, Panda Internet Security 2008, was one the worsts I´ve ever seen. It took me a month to understand where the problem was and finally I had to format the hard drive. It was terrible! Be careful the websites you visit. [mano5chi]
Yes I know that problem has haapen to me alot, everytime My grandchildren gets on my computer, downloading different things a get all kinds of Virus, they think I am being funny for not letting the get on my Computer much, because they do screw it up bad. I always have to scan everything when they get off my computer. Thanks for you input, yo are right you do have to watch what websites you go to. you never know if you will get a Virus or not. When you computer runs slow, best to beleve you definely have a Virus. I have taught myself alot working on my computer I also watch my Computer Guy do somethings when he comes out to my house. He makes a living fixing computers. Have a great day! [marciascott]
I had a bad virus attack just a few days ago and I am not able to start windows. I think that I would have to format my pc. [shail5554]
I just got my computer repaired from the service centre and i always have my antivirus updated So i don't have any virus till now.We cannot when the virus will attack the computer. It can come even through infected sites. We should have the antivirus guard on to detect viruses when we surf harmful sites.happyhappy [vicky30]
Yes, It is best to have some kind of protection. I am glad you got it fixed, no fun when your Computer is down. [marciascott]
I have had an apple for about4 years now. In that time, not a single virus problem. I am way lucky than you guys on Windows. I just hope it stays that way. [Debs_place]
You'dbetter hope, so, that good you never got a Virus. I have a new computer but it can still happen anytimes, especially when the Kids download stuff from Myspace and Music Videos. Hope you are having a great weekend! [marciascott]
Yes normally if you have an updated anti-virus it will be abale to scan deeply your system and so check and delete if there are viruses or not!! As regards me it is really much time i have not on my systems viruses or malaware as well...normally if i use windows as os i will be very careful about threats around and so also what ia download on my computer from different sources and also i update all softwares deals with security for my computer!! If i use Linux..beh this not a problem seeing they are quite safe os so it is really almost impossible to get an infection if you use this os and even the firewall that in many cass linux distributions have in their os are really good to check precisely what kind of things come up and down from /to your computer...so it is a big deal too as regards security!! [tonyllenium]
