I did not study computer lesson but I had formal schooling in typing so when I had to work on computer as demanded by my job, I did not have hard time learning it. Just some simple instructions from my Boss and I quickly learn the basics of computer. Now, I would say I am a computer expert. Ha!Ha!ha! How about you?

I leant on it by experimenting on it. I did not go through an formal training on it. In my schooling days the computer was a luxury and you used to get the green monitors. I kept learning on the computer as they progressed as continue to learn as I use them [alokn99]
i have no computer tutor but i have knowdge from computer im computer literate im gradute of two year course of computer [ken18neth]
When I was still studying, I took up computer secretarial as a vocational course, the only program that was taught to us was wordstar and lotus123. LOL. I had a formal schooling in typing too. When I finished my course, I had a chance to work at a big university in Manila. It is there where I learned different kinds of programs which my boss taught me he even enrolled me to a basic computer lessons. I was in charge of the Payroll and I was his personal secretary too. I could not say that I am an expert, I often ask my friends the how to's of the internet. Right now, I am learning to use and make html's which I learned and still learning but of course with some help from my friends too. LOL. [dhangski]
Yes, as you go along you will learn so many things. Continue learning and be an expert someday. Soon you will even know how to fix your own computer as I myself do. [salonga]
I've never had formal lessons in computer usage-When I was at school,Computers were new technology, and I never had the opportunity to use one in a Class! When I was doing A Levels,The Maths Department had one-One Girl in My class who was so smart,I think She was accepted by Oxford to do Maths was rumoured to have been allowed to use it-Me,I never even SAW the thing on!lol I bought my first computer,a Commodore 64c,and learned to use that in the late 80's..I got to grips with a PC at an internet cafe for a few months a few years later, but didn't get one of my own until first getting my own place,as the flat I had didn't have a phone line.. I've used DIY typing programs, but am still pretty much a "Hunt and peck" typist.I would like to have done the ECDL course, but my work schedule isn't great for evening classes or p/t learning. As for skills level,I'm a user, but no expert! [ShepherdSpy]
At least you can use and not ignorant with this this amazing technology! [salonga]
My dad has always had a computer for as long as I can remember. I learned by watching him and my brother work with them. I'm not an expert but I can handle basic computer problems. [slyvixen42]
I had tutorials on MS word, excel and power point then the rest i have learned through exploring and experimenting..^_^ then some of the things also in the the MS office i have learned it all by myself. [kaezy_kulet]
Yes you can always learn by yourself if you have the will. [salonga]
I also haven't gone to computer school. I just learned it from work as this has to be learnt. My first work was with connection to microfilming and computer peripherals. Till somebody challenged me to modify their accounting software. He just gave me their DOS system, the book and a computer... [neildc]
I did a course a few years back, in how to use Word and Excel. I have just completed a certificate course in software, hardware and maintenance as well as in using Word 2007, Excel, building databases and powerpoint presentations. I start the next certificate course in networking in a few weeks. I enjoy being able to work on computers and my kids think it is great that I can fix problems. I hope to work as a technician once I finish my courses. [Piscesmoon]
My husband is a computer teacher and techie, so I'm afraid I haven't bothered learning anything much about computers at all, as he can fix any problems for me. I only know how to do my email, use Word for writing stuff and how to search for information I need. I run the virus scanner once a week ... but that's about as technical as I get! [guybrush]
I learned how to use the computer when I was 19 years old because of a computer subject in college. It was only for one semester. It was weird because I would never touch the computer before that, fearing it might crash if I make one tiny mistake. 6 months after, my friend introduced me to the internet and since then I got hooked. Lol. [joliefille]
i already have a computer subject since i was HS, that's why i took I.T course on college coz it's really fun & exploring different applications in computer. when i was in college, i learned computer 101 whereas our teacher taught us the basic use of MS office & the internet, when i'm 3rd & 4th year college our teacher taught us how to make basic web page designing, we made a program, c++, visual basic, foxpro, dreamweaver, swish etc.. i find it interesting & it was really fun especially when we made our own web page... [xxjinx8xx]
It was a requirement in college. then I studied more on systems programming and systems design. Most of what I knoew now are from self study. [everlasting]
Self-study really gives us even more knowledge. [salonga]
I am self taught, my partner works nights and just told me to get o with it if i wanted a go.......so i did and now i get asked questions. I have also taken some formal word processing skills in the last year. Have not recieved any formal tutorlage in computer usage though. [scout50a]
If you really have the will... you can always do it by yourself. [salonga]
I learned how to type when I was younger my father bought me and my sister the Mavis beacon typing program and that's how I learned how to type. After I graduated from high school I took a pc specialist correspondence course. I learned how to work with word, access, and excel. [Mimosatree]
So you have been trained at young age. That's good! [salonga]
I did have some computer basic lesson during my college days, it was a two semester. But during that time it is still a Lotus123, hehehe. I usually learn and still studying computer by my own through the help of online forums, and tutorials. [agihcam]
Oh those were the days! I also remember that! [salonga]
I am just leaving high school. Computer was my practical area so i have a good knowledge about the computer. so that mains that i had formal computer lessons.I will tell you my grade when i get my result. [kevron]
Continue your learning my dear and hope you get good grades! [salonga]
I had formal schooling, but I also experimented with computers on my own a great deal before considering myself proficient. In grade school, I remember there being typing classes available. My parents made me sign up for one in eighth grade, because up until then my typing skills were atrocious- 30 wpm using the search and peck method. In the matter of three or so months of learning to type properly, I upped my wpm to around 84. Nowadays, I average around 100 wpm. I took one or two other courses related to computers, but aside from a Computer Science course I already knew how most things worked thanks to my own experimentation at home. [stagewhisper]
Yes, experimentations can do a great deal in acquiring more knowledge. [salonga]
Well, I worked at a school and the computer lady quit. So, they put me in the computer lab. I knew absolutely nothing about computers! The lady had written out everything step by step and I followed that. I did know how to type from taking a class in Jr. High school. I learned and have been a computer geek ever since. I am 66 years old now and am still learning! That just proves anyone can learn new tricks! [getnbuy]
Well said! People who remain active, productive and joyful even in senior years ... I really do admire! God bless you! [salonga]
I did not have formal computer lessons, and I can say I am by far better than my friends who had the lessons. That's because its all about how much you use the computer, practice, practice, practice makes you better! Also, if you are not scared to experiment and to "brake" your computer then you will discover most of the needed things alone. What's more, now with the internet, you can just ask about anything you need online and get your answer at once. If you like it and you are interested really, thyen you will become good at it. Others that take the lessons and do it for the grades or because they have to do it, then they will soon forget all abot it when the class finishes. [elenahap]
Practice makes perfect! Thank you for sharing! [salonga]
I never had computer classes or anything, I pretty much learned by doing. And I'm sure there are some things that I don't know about computers, but I know more than enough to get me through everything I want/need to do, and otherwise I learn pretty quick. As far as typing, I'm also self taught in that area as well. I think I learned from my time on message boards, instant messengers, etc. Although, my last semester in college I took an online microsoft office class, and I actually really enjoyed learning excel and access. I already had experience with the other programs. [greysfreak]
Enjoy your learning my dear! Thanks for sharing! [salonga]
i taught myself (plus it helps to have an computer guru that lives in the house - my hubby) so between him and myself, i figured it out and am pretty computer saavy to say the least (at least i think so!!) [cher913]
Oh how nice to have a hubby like that! Thanks for sharing! [salonga]
I learned Basic in the 80's by typing in programs in Ahoy magazine, a monthly magazine by Commodore. Then just kinda taught myself with Dos and SQL and others. [douchrti]
Most of us here just taught ourselves and doing pretty good! [salonga]
well i never had the lessons from any insti and not even from any teacher. i just learned it myself with a little help from my friends and then i did it from the ineternet and i think it is the best wayu to do it. no one can teach you small things and os is something which you should explore to know more./ [amitavroy]
I admire you diligence and willpower. Now,I know you can compete with those who have had lessons. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]
No, I don't have any formal lessons or trainings on computer but I had keyboarding class when I was in college. Am I a computer expert, too? I would certainly say, Yes, I am! HaHaHa [oo0stingray0oo]
Ha!ha!ha! so you are part of the club! Enjoy it to the max! Thanks for sharing 1 [salonga]
I'm lucky my employers gave me computer-related trainings since I'll be working with it most of the time. I remember having BASIC lessons in my elementary days and dabbled with computer typing in college when I had to do lots of reports. Computer expert or not, I definitely am a user. [holachika]
Lucky you really are! thanks for sharing! [salonga]
I learned the basics at school: typing, basic Access and Powerpoint and extended Word and Excel. The rest I learned by doing it. With a good book to guide you through all the steps, you easily find what you need to do. [bieke81]
Yes good books to guide you and surfing from the net about related subjects will also do! [salonga]
There are lots of us who never get to apply our college course. It is not because we are not competitive but the opportunities never came as expected.Mine is an example.I earned from my skills during the early years of my practice but the chances of success is very slim especially during the economic slump. That is why I put up this CyberCafe which pushed me hard to learn computers ranging from the basics, programming, repair and administration. [edleogc]
That's very true! It's very practical to change your career path if you feel you could be more productive and well compensated by doing so! I admire you for having that discernment. [salonga]
When I first started using a computer in 1989, I knew nothing. I took a job with a communication company in the inventory department and was asked if I could use a 10 key calculator. I lied and said yes. My boss knew I was lying but like me anyway, so she sent me home with a calculator and told me to get a phone book and practice, practice, practice. I did and when given a test to see if a scanner would be better than keying everything by hand, I was faster than the scanner. I have since taken a basic class on computers and have learned a lot of what I know through trial and error. Donna [green4success]
Ha!ha!ha! Does it mean lying pays sometimes! Well just kidding, I believe it is your diligence that did it for you. [salonga]
There is no way to learn computer formally this is all about practice and only practice............ [pikeshpd]
Learning on you own and practice as often as you could will really help. thanks! [salonga]
I did have a computer class in college. It's just to teach simple things like microsoft word , powerpoint , flash and so on.I didn't need it but it is compulsory to attend the class.Since I'm used to the programs that they teach,I used my spare time surfing the net - it wasn't so bad after all!! [izzuyasha]
Yes, not bad, otherwise, how can you surf! [salonga]
My computer training wasn't formal either. I popped open a box, pulled out my computer, hooked it up, and began to surf the web. That was back in 1997 and I've been burning up the fiber optics ever sense. Did I ever make bloopers? Yup, made some big ones. Now though, I call myself 'moderate'. [CraftyCorner]
Oh yea, but they take a hit to your pocket book! [CraftyCorner]
I took a PC 101 class just so I could learn the tricks. It paid off, I will show people stuff they never knew. [gitfiddleplayer]
w00t I sure could use some help! [DancingRedFeather1]
I have no formal training about computer, as I go along I teach myself. I learned all on my own and there is still much to learn. I am very fond of them, so that keeps me active. lol [sun2day]
There are always ways and means to teach ourselves! thanks for commenting! [salonga]
blinkI'm going to have to take computer lessons because the more am into this business of mine..the more I need to know how to put banners etc everywhere I can..Boy am a glutz!lol [DancingRedFeather1]
Yes, it is a must to enhance our computer knowledge as this will give us a lot of benefits. We live in a computer world and hence we must master this craft. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]
i did not any formal commputer training but after we bought computer in my house,i somehow learned everything by myself.now my kids have computer classes in school and they know computer better than me. [riyasam]
Yes, usually the kids are the computer wizards because they are very diligent in learning the ins and outs of computer. But it is nice to know that you learn computer all by yourself. You just have to enhance it to be more productive. [salonga]
I just leaned the basic Word, Excel and power point in an institute run by one of my friends for about fifteen days .I think that I have taken a wise decision in doing so. Because the word and excel practice are very helpful in my business nowadays. I personally advice everyone who owns a computer to learn the basic things in computer at least for a month which will be beneficial throughout the life time. [balasri]
Hi, yes I did have some formal lessons on computer, BUT it is AFTER I learned so much about the computer. When my mom first bought a computer for an organization, so a computer expert uses it. I just watch him do this and that on the computer. and when I have a chance I would experiment on it. that's how I learned first. then in school, it was easier for me because I already have lots of knowledge. take care [red_amethyst]
Yes, it is so easy to learn all by yourself. I know a lot of people who learned computer without formal schooling and they even became experts. It is a big help if you have your own computer so you could really concentrate. Thanks for sharing! [salonga]
I have a formal computer lesson in my school and in my university But I never learn computer in a specific course. So after I learn from my school and university, I practise it at home by myself. I still a junior computer users and still learn much thing. Now, I trying to surfing in internet reading the forum discussion and article from other people. How that I can be expert users like you by myself. Keep post happy myLotting... [winzpc]
Just stay more time and do some research on how to fully maximize your knowledge in computer and soon enough you will become expert too. Good luck my friend! [salonga]
