after do some posting then we get felt tired, so when you go to sleep, did you shut down you computer first or just leave it there still on. There a people they just turn off they monitor but leave the cpu still running on, for you what should you do to your computer when you want to go sleep.

MY computers are set to go into suspend mode when I shut them for the night they do not always do that but they are supposed to... With my laptop I tend to shut the laptop and just let it go half the time it does shut down half the time it doesn't hibernate. Same with my desktop. Sometimes we shut it down and sometimes we don't. My husband has trouble sleeping from time to time so he gets up and either gets online or watches tv. Since the computer does a virus scan on boot up it takes awhile, which irritates him, so if he feels that he might be up later, he leaves it on. [spalladino]

mulau_ I have my desktop set up to run its virus program at 2am. I set it up so that when the scan ends, the computer is turned off. I always turn off my monitor though. [anawar]

Oh, yes, I turn my computer completely off when I go to bed. I also turn it off when it's done doing its virus scanning and I am going to be out for a long period of time. I've had problems going into sleep mode on this computer because of some of the programs that I run, so I don't let it do that. Yup..I turn it off and take the cord out of the wall when I go to bed. even turned off, but with the cord in the socket, the compuiter still draws out 30 percent of the electricity you use when it's on. But totally unplugged..adds up on electrical savings. Want to save on your electric bill? Unplug and take the cord out of the wall. Not only will you save, but if there would be a storm at night and lightening would hit, you could end up saving your computer. I use to leave my computer running all the time, I figured since it goes into "sleep" mode that it was alright to leave it running all the time. Well after a few years of letting it run all night, it started to over heat and would shut down on it's own, after being on for just a short period of time. I couldn't figure out why in the world it was doing that. Well I took it to a computer shop and learned that the fan was burnt up from running often because of leaving it on over night. The man at the computer shop asked me "do you leave your car running over night"...of course I said no and he said (joking), then you shouldn't leave your computer running either. i have a funny story to tell, while i open the cpu cover, my newhew playing the rubber bend so while i am busy something happen that rubber has stuck on the cpu fan, after that my computer keep shutdown automatically i configure that maybe a virus but after checking it is my fan that not working then i realise the rubber bend is the problem, it make me nervous lol. :) [mulau2u]

I don't shut my PC down at night before I go to bed. I only really turn it off if i'm going out. I like being able to come straight online when I wake up and have all my websites and programs open. I also sometimes download torrents while i'm sleeping so that they don't slow my PC down while i'm trying to work on it. I have a laptop and every night when I go to bed I usually put it in hibernation or sleep mode. But occasionally, after a few days of being in hibernation and being on all day, it gets rather hot and slows down quite a bit, so i turn it off. It is usually about once or twice a week [notaproblem]

ok i will tell this some important information, if your monitor is 3 or 4 year old better not too turn the button off, i mean just turn off the computer will make the monitor turn off too without switching the button off, cause if you do the on and off so many time it will make the monitor die early, the electric cas on that monitor will bring it down. but if you monitor still new better just turn it off. Hi, I have always heard that it is not good for the computer to actually shut it down after each use. Because of that I have typically always just left it on and let it go into sleep mode. Well i have an internet plan which allows me free downloading between 2am and 8 am....so during this interval i am online and obviously not sleeping....but when i goto sleep in the morning ie around 9 am...i make sure i shut down my pc..to ensure it works properly...usually the computer gets overheated if its not shut down for a long interval of time...and also u must have noticed that the computer slows down after some time....therefore to avoid this...i recommend all of u to give ur computers a little rest ! When I got my new computer it had Vista on it an the manual said the system would be better if it was always left on, but the Geek Squad had thing written down an it said computers should be turned off once a week. But we usually turn it off at night anyway. My computer goes to sleep and that I can wake easy enough but my mouse goes to sleep and I can't wake it up. When I was using a desktop, I rarely turn it off. I just restart it every time it got slow. But after I change into laptop, I always turn it off every time I don't use it because I have a bad experience with my first laptop. I rarely turned it off so I had to change the hard disk 2 times and fixed the mother board one time in 7 years I used the laptop. I always shut my computer(s) down when I am sleeping... more out of habit than anything else. For some reason, it also makes me feel like I have a fresh start rather than coming back tot end to what is left of yesterday. It's more of a personal feeling than anything else. what was i do is i clear all the history the recent files, remove any file on the recycle bin, easy to say i use ccleaner to make everything clear before i go to sleep, cause i don't want someone know my private works at computer. then in morning my computer run fast as usual, that is the basic thing why i always turn my computer if it really need to be shut down at night. well. it all depends. I have a laptop and i was told not to let it on for hours to make sure it can work smoothly. I am not sure about it but i do as i was told. I always shut down when I go to sleep at night because my computer has some flashy LEDs at the back and the fan tends to make a bit of a noise. In the middle of the day it isn't really a problem because there is light so I can't see the lights flashing and there is enough background noise that the fan isn't noticed but in the middle of the night when it is dark and silent the two get really annoying.
