Everytime you get online or do whatever with the pc like make documents in word, excel, etc. Do you eat and drink while in front of the computer?
As for me, I make it a point that I only drink and not eat while doing stuff in front of my laptop. To be safe from spilling, I place it in a spill proff mug and put it adjacent to the computer. Its a hassle if liquids or any food particles will spill over your beloved pc. It may cause damage in the sysytem.

I must admit I am the one with peanut butter keys. Seriously, I do spend a lot of time in front of my pc and yes I do eat in front of it but I am usually very careful. There were a couple of accidents that caused me to have to replace one keyboard (the dropping of the mashed potatoes) and one mouse (the can of coke that was knocked over by my niece). Nop. Never done that. Personally it is about time management, isn't it? We all have 24 hours - 8 hours (for sleep). I used to eat in front of my computer before. Before my keyboard used to be filled with food particles and the keys used to get stuck. Now a days I do not eat any snacks in front of my computer. I think it is okay to take any juices or tea or coffee until one does not spill it. [ajithlal]

Hello! Yes I ussually eat in front of my computer when I am at home, but I take great care. This remembers me, of a comic story that happend some time ago. One evening I come home and find my parents sleeping. I go to my room and I try to get my computer started. I had a hotkey for booting (space bar). I pressed the space bar but to my surprise nothing happend. I then started the computer from the power button. I opened a text file to check out if the keyboard was fine, and it just started typing by itself. I was like OH MY GOD, whats happening?! And then I saw some liquid on the desk. I then realised that my father accidentaly poured some liquid into the keyboard while obviously drinking in front of the computer. I had to buy a new keyboard the next day. [octavian]

I make sure that my computer will not get messy, maybe most especially people in call centers they don't have enough time to get up and go out to eat somewhere else so they eat infront of the computer if they get hungry. I never eat near my laptop, but boy do i drink there. I mean i always have juice or water next to me when i get on my laptop. Sometimes my mug is empty and it just sits there until i get my lazy butt up to go get a refill, but most of the time i am drinking near the computer. I mean i never use a open top cup or mug, because i am careful not to spill it on my laptop, so i always carry a mug with a closed top and only a small opening for me to sip on. Hi mchavez11, Funny you should ask! I noticed this discussion while sipping my morning coffee! Yes, I eat snacks and drink beverages at my desktop all the time. My keyboard is in one of those desk-pull-out shelves so I put my drink on the same level as my monitor..it helps because there's no way I will knock it over while I'm typing or reaching for something. I used to snack every night while on the computer. I would bring in a bag of M&M's or chips or whatever I could find in the house. I soon realized this was the culprit of why I was gaining weight slowly but steadily. The snacking is out the door now. You are so right about the spills! It is easy to damage a keyboard or more. Yes I do... I always found it interesting how tech people will tell you it's just common sense not to eat or drink while you're on the computer, then they'll put down their coffee cup, turn back toward their PC and resume typing. Personally I haven't had a food+computer related accident since I was about 6, so I'm not worried much about it anymore and don't think about it. I am more careful I've found with new computers though, and with computers that belong to other people because I know I'd look like a complete idiot if I spilled coke on somebody else's PC. I'll eat or drink anything in front of a computer - I guess it's just a bad habit I managed to pick up on. I don't plan on changing it though, I enjoy it too much. It's been going on for about eight years, and so far there's only been one incident where a cup of water spilt on the keyboard. I wasn't even using the computer when that happened. But on the plus side it gave me a chance to buy a shiny new keyboard. [childofcheese]
Hello, Mchavez11. I do eat sometimes in front of the computer, but it is only sometimes. Rare times. I do not like to spend my time in here eating and drinking. Yes, it is great, but what if something falls in my keyboard? Or damage my mouse? Yes, you have your "anti-spill system", but I do not... I have to eat carefully when I do so, otherwise I might just get my keyboard broken. But I think it is pretty better to eat at the table, with the family gathered, everybody having dinner or lunch or a coffee in the afternoon. I do it before, when I was still working with my first employer. But when I quit, and I was cleaning up my stuffs and decided to shake the keyboard... there they were... crumbs! Now I don't eat in front of the computer anymore coz I'm using a laptop. If I am using a desktop pc, then there is a better chance I'd still be eating in front of the computer hahaha! I still drink though... coffee, water, etc. and not in spill-proof mugs :D I'm just very careful whenever I drink. I've witnessed it happen to my co-worker before. i eat & drink infront of the PC if im really busy with work and have no time to eat at the kitchen table. There was once where water spilled on my laptop and it DID cause some damage. After that incident, anything that has water inside i will put it far away from my laptop/ pc.. so that it wont spill on them again, since im such a klutz :-) [pemijoh]

Normally because I am doing something before and I don't want to stop whatever it is just in case I loose momentum. I always have a lot of work so its just killing two birds with one stone for me.
