I was wondering how mnay of us on here are lucky enough to have a computer all to ourselves that we don't have to share with anyone, and how many of us have a computer which we have to share with others such as spouses, siblings, children, other household members etc? If you have to share, would you prefer not to?
I'm lucky enough to have my own, albeit not-do-great computer that i don't have to share. It's an ok computer, it does most of the things i want it to do. My partner has his own computer which is why we don't have to share, though we do share an internet connection.

responses and comments:
I would hate to have to share a computer, everyone I know seems to do things in their own way, I can get on someone elses computer and I am completely lost, so many things on the computer has so many ways to go around things, I would hate to have to share and find my settings or something changed when I go back on it, I used to let a fella use my computer and he would change the size of things but never put it back it used to make me angry that every time he used it I had to put it back to the way I like it....I think computers are like handbags...a personal item.... [lilaclady]
i have a family computer that I share. :( but I hope to buy my own laptop in the coming months. There is something special about having *your own*. of anything. not just computers. [rbd101]
Hubby and I are fortunate to each have our own computers. They are both desktop models and we share and office. We both run separate businesses from our computers so it is a necessity for us each to have one. We also have two older computers that collect dust, lol. Not sure yet what we are going to do with them, they are both pretty obsolite, but still work and will still support using the internet. [creativedreamweaver]
If they still work donate them to someone that cant afford one. [buttons101]
We have 4 computers in my household. 2 laptops and 2 desktops. 1 desktop is in the dining area and is maintained and used by my mom even though she doesnt know how to. And this is the one i use when i dont have a laptop at the moment or if i need to give mine a break. I have a laptop and my brother has a very cool laptop and a very cool desktop!! He's a gamer and i'm trying to make him give me his laptop since he uses the desktop all the time [plumfoolery]

I've always had a computer to myself. No one else in my family ever expressed an interest in using computers, so for as long as I have owned a computer (since 1995 when I was 13, 1998, when I got the internet) the computer has been mine alone. [danishcanadian]
I have my own laptop which was a gift from my husband and he's got a pc of his own too.I think i wouldn't like to share my computer to somebody else i bet i would get irritated easily.lol.I'm glad i don't have to share it. [foreverblue921]
i have to share im afraid yes wiht my boyfriend, were always arguing over who goes on and for how long and so on, it's annoying sometimes, tho im saving up for a laptop that way i can have my own and he can ahve his own and then everything will be all sound and much happier! :) [xXmeganxX]
in my house we all have our own separate computers, except for my kids they have to share 1 with each other.me and my husband have our own. [coco526]
My brother and I have our own computers. We used to have to share until about 4 years ago. Now, I don't have to share with anyone! My computer makes me happy, lol. It's got everything I need and it's fast. =] [katisaurus]
I have my own computer internet system with one as my normal use and one as a backup if things go wrong. This saves a lot of time and is a great advantage when able to use both at the same time. [deeeky]
i have my own pc an old broken lap top and another broken lap top.My husband has his own brand new lap top that he uses to play World of Warcraft [daisyc]
I have to share the computer I'm using with two other people. It sometimes gets frustrating when I'm itching to type and respond to some of the topics here and all I could do was wait for my turn to start. Of course if I had my own, I wouldn't want to share it. If I could affort it, I'd rather buy one for myself. Most of my day then will probably be spent surfing the net. [Anixie]
well since my computer crashed I have been using my bf but willl get another one asap i hate havng to share any thing but the internet connection [sidoney]
I used to have a laptop, but it broke so I have too share a computer. There are only 2 people that use this computer and all of our individual things are locked and all so the other can't access it. [valerieanne]
My computer is my baby. I love him dearly, he is the one thing in the world i can't live without. So of course i got him all to myself. I bought my computer about six years ago (omg i just realized that! is he THAT old already?), but he's still "fresh" as new. [nufoundglory]
I share it with my kids and husband. We only have one computer at this time, so it's everyone's baby!!! WHen the kids get a bit older we'll be getting a second computer for them to use for school. [wsue1023]
I do have two computers. I use one for business and one for pleasure. I sometimes share my personal computer with my daughter. [venshida]
i share my computer to members of my family. [his0island]
i have two of my own, a notebook in my room, as well as a desktop. i partly built my desktop, so i can easily fix anything that breakes on it, and its also usually pretty fast ... well if i can afford the new (higher pricing each day) hardware. [Phatmat]
I share my computer with my brother. Its in my room too so it starts fights when he decide to use it in the wee hours of the morning and i cant sleep. It sucks too because they can access all my files anytime until recently where i had my own external drive to keep my own files in. [sechsey]
Me and my husband were using only one computer. my husband is the one paying the internet connection but I have more time to use this because I'm a housewife. [jean_gomez3]
i acctually have my pc all to myself.my mate doesnt like the internet she says that it doesnt interest her.to me it does.b/c i can learn about stuff on here and everything.i am into witchcraft heavily and i like to go on sites and learn more about it. blessed be, Hecate witch)O( [jdw1971witch]
I have my own personal computer that I have built myself. No one uses it unless I allow them to. I have tons of files on it that are my own. [p8ntballr21]
I currently have two laptops. One is a mac, and one is a PC. The PC laptop is always missing from my room because the rest of my family seems to always want to use it, but I have the mac to myself which is good enough. [toonpulse]
Yes, I have my own computer with internet connection. It is very convenient for me now to have my own PC, since I will not be renting in an internet cafe in order for me to surf and work. I can surf the internet anytime I want and find more possible earning opportunities in the net. [queenie12]
i think im one of those whom you can call not that much lucky since i don't have my own computer to use or post here at mylot. im from the philippines and i can say that unlike in the US, computers here are not that a necessity. not all houses here have comnputers but we have a lot of computer cafes, so i only go to computer cafes to access mylot. it's quite a hassle sometimes since i have to spend money too to access mylot but then again, its enjoyable since a hobby at the same time [chuva_chuva2005]
we only have one computer and i need to share it to my other siblings!...were only 3 siblings in our family, so it's not that hard to make time table for the computer!...we have our own schedule in using the computer!...sometimes, im the one who has the largest time in using because i only stayed at home while my other siblings goes to school!lolz...but sometimes, using computer feel me more bored and tired!... [blacknight000]
I have a computer all by myself in the morning but in the evening my hubby will use it for his own research. But I can get it anytime I want. Yeah im lucky because I can pay my internet bills because its no use to have computer with no net. [pinayako_norieann]
It is good that you have a computer all for your own use. I have to share my PC with my spouse and children. Sometimes I'm keen to install a game or download a software but I was prevented by my spouse because her concern on viruses, spy ware and hackers. I wish to have a personal laptop where i can install all my favorite softwares. I also need not stop my surfing just to let them have their turn to use!! [bengspotting]
Well, we have each have a computer of our own. except my 2nd brother has a laptop and a desktop as well. The laptop is his primary usage, while the desktop is mostly for doing other stuffs, which he doesn't connect to the web in fear of virus and spyware. The only thing we share here is the internet connection and this we also share with 3 of our neighbors, so the monthly bill is split 4 ways. [omega007]
I don't have a computer so I share the laptop with my hubby. It is his laptop by the way. and I can only use it on weekends. >.< [abby_abz]
Yep its all mine and I like it that way. [Polly1]
I share my computer with my family even though i have two computers. The other computer i have runs really slow and we only use it if its absolutely urgent. [ipostsometime]
I have my own laptop, but i cant get the internet on it. So I have to share the desktop computer, the person I share it with is hardley ever there, so its not really a problem. [ballinballer]
I currently have the computer all to myself. It is setup in my room and I use it for school work as well as leisure. I would prefer not to share if I was in the position of having to do so. I've always had my own computer and it would drive me insane waiting for someone else to get off, i've been spoiled. [creed22]
I do not have to share a computer with anyone. Me being the only child in the house and my parents thinking they are too old to begin learning a computer gives me all the freedom to spend howmuchever time I want to on it. Its actually great having a computer to yourself as there are so many confidential and personal files that you'd rather not share. [bindishah]
Actually I have two of them. One is my desktop I personally call "Home Central", which connects to the internet, and one which has Windows XP, and a DVD burner. It's shared by the family. However, I have another one. This one's a laptop used for personal things, and I keep it all to myself. This one that I call my "Mobile Terminal", has an External Hard Drive purchased separately, has Windows 98, a late '90s model, has no modem card, screen keeps frazzing out and is now turned white (as though disconnected), and I now have a cooling base which might seem too small. [DuoMaxwell]
I am lucky enough to have a computer all to myself. It was actually a present from a family friend. He got it for me because I was his summer nanny for his 2 little girls. Recently I had to share it with my boyfriend as he was in the process of getting a new computer. However, he had to ask before he went on it. I'm very possessive over my computer in fear of something happening to it (such as virus downloads or the like). Thankfully, the boyfriend got a computer in the last week, so we don't have to share anymore. We do share a wireless internet signal which we have in the house. [ma_belle]
I share the computer with my sister. We do compromise on who could use it first. If she something important to do, like her paper or maybe to respond to some important emails, I let her use it. If I would have something important to do on the other hand, she lets me use it. I'm planning to buy a laptop though, so there won't be any problem. [blushnpixie]
Now there is just me and my husband, so we each have our own computers. We have 2 desk tops and 2 lap tops. [2aronic]
We have one computer in our household and my husband and I share it. I don't mind sharing it with him as I can kick him off just about any time I want to. LOL [sacmom]
yes I do own a computer but still I allowmy friends to share it with me.Also I access mylot from a corporate lan at my work sometimes. But I always feel it is good to have a self computer. [earnwhilelearn]
Mostly I have a computer to myself (and I have top priority for using it all the time), but when I'm sleeping late or after I've gone to sleep other people such as my Personal Care assistants use it. [cripfemme]
I have my computer all to myself, thank goodness. :P [HolyMosesMalone]
iam very happy to say that i have a computer of my own. my elder daughter is software engenier and my younger son is about to complete his computer engeniering. so they both have acomputer of their own.so i am only there to use this computer. [kmdvmd]
ya,here i am lucky enough to have a computer all to myself,i don't have to share it with anyone around me. ya many of us have to share it with others such as spouses, siblings, children and so on,as i stay in hostel thats y i dont have to share it with anyone mentioned above;all my friends hav there own pc or laptop.Only thing i share is internet connection. [jannat7]
Well Its a different thing in me , because as of now I am the only one who uses the computer dominantly unlike my younger sister which is 10 yrs old, she is not that pro in terms of installing, internet etc. What she only does is to paly games, and paint that's all. But I know sooner or later when she grow old a little bit more, that's the time that I have to buy my own computer because I dont have any spare time to give in sharing my computer. PEAACE [mangjr]
Yes i have a computer all for myself.I love this fact because I don't have to worry about someone else fiddling with my personal files and stuff. But if i have to share ,I think i won't mind it much because then i will save and secure my work properly and will expect the other user to respect my privacy.I will feel happy to share it, as this will give me a sense of satisfaction for being of some help and adding a good trait to my personality. [worthy]
My laptop is all mine! I lived with my parents and sadly they are not computer literate since they are old already so it made me lucky to have my laptop on my own. [hottie0728]
I share it with my brother, and I'm not happy cause of it, but I'll buy myself a new computer only for me. I isn't nice when you have to share it, and if you for example write on mylot. You want to spend more time doing and other person is angry. [jurazg]
You can count me in one of those who share a pc... i share my pc at home with my brother and also my pc in office with my team mates incase if they need to do so. i dont mind. i dont think there is any problem with sharing pc or internet connection.... sharing internet connection is much better than sharing pc. i believe you could go for it... [ganesh1984k]
yeah i m lucky enough as are u to not to share my computer with anyone. i live in a hostel and every one has got his own computer + 24*7 free net connection so i think i m a bit more lucky than u ... [mallick]
I share this PC with my mom. Only the two of us use this computer because we are the only people in the house and yet we do sometimes quarrel LOL! because she has many things to do here as she is an author. [whacks]
Right now I share a PC with my partner. He's actually saving up for a Mac though so he can start doing film editing. The PC isn't really suited for that very well and editing takes forever. Once he has the mac then this PC is all mine. I'm kinda looking forward to it, and I know how to do what I want with it, but I just have this feeling that even when my partner has a Mac, he'll still sit down and check his emails on the PC because its what he's used to. He probably won't even think twice about it lol. [retardedrugrat]
I have to share this computer with my sister. We have a pact, that in any emergency, the one using the machine, will immediately hand over the machine to the other, without making fuss. This applies to both. We still get a good amount of time to sit with the computer alone. Each of us use the computer for atleast 4 hours a day. Till todate, we didn't quarrel much, and also didn't have any conflict. The major reason is that, we have chosen seperate times for being online, and the times doesn't overlap. [moumitamazumder]
I am a computer programmer . I have my owm computer in my home and I also use computer in my office. I got a spparate compuer to use in my office. But mu home computer is shared by my sisters . [ramkrushnatunga2006]
me and the hubby share the laptop, its not a perfect thing i spend more time on it then he does, hes also not very techy, and he broke the last one buy downloadng a virus on to it. Bless him he took the shouting well [lady_lillith]
yes,i have my own computers at home. i have one pc and one laptop.i'm using my laptop to finished my works everyday.i don't like to share my pc or laptop with anyone because i don't want any harm to my computers. it's easy to say you can format it later if any problems involved, but i'm not sure if they any document theft using my computers.i hate that [reezluv]
i have it better :p i got 3 computers for my own ;) [lefty999]
When my brother was here (he is now outside the country) we used to "share" our PC. And I always wanted to be alone with the PC a whole day... now I want to be with my brother. I don't have to share my PC much. Just my mother and my father. I'd give it all away... [cillerman]
No, I have to share the laptop with my wife. It's quite new and she seldom use it. So ?I don't see the need to buy another laptop for myself. regards, Thomas Hoi http://drsecretbwl.blogspot.com [thomashoi]
i have my own computer but share it with my younger brother cause he wants to know everything about it so i sit with him and show all the files and folder and tweaks .... [vinaysingh007]
it's good to have a computer all on your own...but it's ok to share i think, because you have different usernames and passwords anyway....it's just the time sharing that matters. [mlgb_24]
i have to share my computer with all my family members even with my kids they like to play games on the net and never let me peacefully use the computer the only time when i can use it without gettin disturbed is during the night [imtiyaz1]
i own my own computer which take me 3 years to pay in assurance, it is really good to own one, i don't have to used my friends comp to finish up my assignment, it is really a freedom to do anything with your own comp, but i my house my friends do shared my comp, i really hate it, cause you never know what they have change while you are away, but i not that mean to not give them use my comp, still sometimes i really mad when they change my setting here and there, yeah i have my own comp but not too happy with the sharing.. [mfnick]
Well I started with my own computer in 2000. And I have had my own sense. But last year when my desk was a mess I was forced for a while to share with my dad. It was the same computer my dad used, sometimes my mom and my sister too. NOT fun! Then I bought a laptop and switched to this. Never looked back. Now rarely is this not mine. My dad got a laptop, my mom uses his old desktop, my sister has her own laptop (All the laptops are being paid monthly!) so now its like we all have our bathrooms we also have our own computers :D [monkeywriter]
I have my computer and my husband has his own computer and I love it. I don't have to wait my turn to get on it. I have my interest and he has his own. We have a computer room and in it there are two desks. When we both are on our computer we are sitting on our chairs and the backs of the chairs are back to back. I am one of the lucky ones. There are two computers in the house. [sunshinelady]
im lucky enough to have two :) one laptop and one desktop. the laptop i bought for myself, had to work for a year while studying but it was worth it. the desktop was my dad'd but since he now works in singapore i got both of them in my discretion. i use my laptop more though because its the one with internet connection. i reserve the desktop for running big programs like corel x3 and for storing large files. [galatea]
I have a computer of my own, in my own bedroom. Nobody else uses it, because my parents don't even have a clue how to work with it. [Quatrus]
I have two computers in my household, so I don't have to share, I have the desktop and my husband uses a laptop, we only swap if he needs to fix something on mine!! [nglanfield]
i ahve a computer all to myself and i will have a hard time sharing my computer with someone i work on my computer i write on it i pay bills from it i see movies on it it helds a very big part of my life but i have a very good friend that is in my appartment for the last 2 months she too has a lote of things on the puter and she uses my computer alote- and yes it makes me crazy to want to write on certain hours and she too wants too..well it is hard sharing a computer..but i guess i will survive and she will too:) [liranlgo]
My husband and I each have our own desktop computers with Windows XP. I also have my own laptop with Windows XP. My husband will be getting an i-Mac for himself very soon (he has just sent off yesterday the forms to apply for finance for it). My husband is a p.c. support technician for a living, so we're pretty much a technological household. [XenaGlamRocker]
woopsy sorry I didn't mean to post this - I meant to post the one below. I didn't realise this had gone through. [XenaGlamRocker]

I do have my own computer and yeah like you said we are lucky enough to have our own. [adlemi82]
yes share it... i share with my brother since he has one... of course i need to ask permission first before using. [fianne]
we have one computer right now because mine is down and there is 4 of us. when me husband gets on he dont like to be bothered to much (its his) but when i get on he wants to pick and play all the time and the bothers me sometimes because hell set there and pick at me for long periods of time because he knows ill eventually get ill and get off then he can have it again. its annoying lol. my kids 11 and 7 also share it. but for them its only after they do homework and such. [mbarryton]
I have to share my computer with my husband. I will admit that he doesn't get much time on it though :) [princeworthy]
I do share a PC with my other half - however we don't like the saem TV programmes much so one of us can be on the PC whilst the other is watching telly so it works quite well [Tazzza]
Sad but i have to share my computer with my daughter... But i decided that in few weeks i will buy a laptop and them we will be again happy, because i hate when i have to leave computer because she need...LOL!! At office i have my computer which i don't share with no one... Whish me succes to buy my laptop as soon as cen! [emeraldeyes]
Hello : I think I am lucky enough according to your opinion . Because I Have my own LapTop . [webmayestro]
Well, I'm among those who are lucky to have the PC all to ourselves. My brothers are not into computers and internet and neither is my father. Of they want to search for something, all they have to do is ask me and I'd do it for them. [dianavarro]
hi friend, i share laptop with my hubby. we are having a computer and a connection too but that computer is the room of my in-laws and i dont feel comfortable to go and do my personal work sitting there.i m having a place to keep it in my room too, but i dont wanna do that as i like my room spacy and airy. because of this i share my husband's laptop. there isn't much problem but at times i feel really stuck up as i wanna go on internet doing something or the other and at the same time he is also busy in his work.looking into the situation i prefer not to disturb him. if i show that i really feel the need of it , i know that the other one will be shifted to our room as they are just finding an opportunity to shift that thing from there froom to our's. we dont wanna keep that in store also its working and in all good condition as well as internet connection.looking all, one has to compromise with the situation , either this or that. [aweins]
Well, I don't like to share my computer with other people because they can change something in the configuration, or downloading and installing an adware program or anything that doesn't leave my computer as it was before they used it. But, unfortunately all the members of my family like to use all the computers that there are in my house, it doesn't matter which, as none of them is assigned specifically for each one of us (although I try to make the laptop that I recently bought of my own, but they are interested in it too). And, as long as it's free, all my familiars take the computer that they feel like wanting to have in that moment. [jotace]
Hi there, I have my own computer, thank goodness. I love the computer and I would not like to have to wait for others to let me use it. I am not selfish, I just love being on the computer when I am home. Take care... [tsgirl01]
I have a laptop that only I use, and a computer that we keep in the Kitchen that the whole family can use. [Squidge]
good for you that you dont have to share... same here.. the rest of my family has an old crappy computer while i have a new computer... all to myself.. of course i bought it, so it would only make sense that its mine... but i do let them use it if they need to do homework and stuff..... we do share an internet connection but our sonnection speed is fast... just the way i like it.... btw.. i have a family of 7 siblings... thank god i own my own computer. [vuezta]
I have to share mine with two sons. It can get to be a little frustrating at times but when they are both away from home and I have this old computer to myself, I will probably long for the 'good old days.' [goodson]
My wife and I now each have our own computers, and are currently reprogramming and setting up a third for our children (they'll have to share, lol). All three computers are online simultaneously, so we can all perform different tasks and surf different areas on the Internet at the same time. It was quite aggravating having to share the same computer. With both my wife and I pursuing different avenues of income and hobby interests on the Internet, it's now MUCH more satisfying to us all to have our own computer. She can perform her work on hers, at the same time I can work on mine, and our kids can do their homework, etc., on theirs'. [MrSmitty]
yeah i guess i am lucky to have my own computer. my mom bought this for me for my 16th birthday. i don't have to share it with someone because i am the only child. my dad and my mom does not know how to use the internet. and my dad had his own computer. [queenie_sum]
i have a computer not all to myself , i share it with my brothers . i wish ihad one all to myself , but i do intend to buy one laptop which will be my personal . its so good having one for yourself . [simran1430]
alone alone alone!! he heeee.. i have a desktop that is ALL mine and recently DH got a used laptop that he gave it to me!!! so moe i can browse anywhe.. kitchen, toilets LOL!!! i just dont wasnt to miss anything :D but i also hv a toddler and an infant to take care so my comeputer time is restricted! [shifsha]
I remember the days when I was in India.. My dad got 2 desktop computers for both me and my younger brother. Since I'm a bit more computer savvy, my peripherals were much more advanced then him which was hard for my bro to digest !! He used to cry most of the times so that he could get my PC and this really irritated my dad. So he finally requested me to share my computer with him.. That pissed me off because whenever my mom or dad had to check their mails, they would always run towards my PC and my bro's computer remained brand new.. But eversince I have come to the UK, I have a personal laptop that I dont share with anyone. I can keep my stuff in it as I like with no restrictions or fear !! [m2gud2love]
Computers are beginning to become a very personal thing nowadays. Everybody has got some confidential stuff that they want to keep in the electronic form. Lucky me, I do have my own PC. This makes a lot of internet things more confidential. Sharing with family is not that bad, but to use it in a public area is not that safe. [NatureBoy]
I have to share my computer with all my family, and somedays I can hardly see it because it's in use all day long! But most of the time it doesn't matter for me because I have a computer at work too... [shay3434]
same i would hate to share a computer i have a computer all to myself [UNxTOUCHxABLE]
i HAVE A COMPUTER THAT IS REALLY MINE!!! [metallo]
i share my pc with two younger brothers... we even fight with each other for it... thanks for asking have a nice day [damsel_prerna]
Well if people are already lucky for having their own computer then i guess im lucky. Nobody dares to touch my computer. This is all mine. My two stepbrothers has their own and both of them share it with each other. My computer is here in my room and its a no entry area to everyone except on saturdays when our housemaid goes in to clean it. So im happy that im not having problems on people using my computer. The last time i shared my computer with my two stepbrothers, my keyboard wire got cut off, the mouse ball is missing and some of my important files were deleted. They always fight over the computer so im always skeptic to share mine with them again. And anyway they have their own. And i hope their computer is still working. [jmanzano17]
I am lucky because my husband don't even use the computer. plus it don't know how. so I am happy, I don't even let my grand-kids use it because they mihgt mess up my computer and get it infected. [marciascott]
Yes, you are a lucky one if your parrents have their own computer.I'm a parrent and I'd like my children have their own computers but is not possible for the moment.Imagine that most of the time I let them on computer and I'm on when they have somethingelse to do, when they aren't home or I wake up one or two hours earlier to enter online. But hope that this will not take too much time... [adel2u]
I have my own computer. My parents are not computer literate and have no use for technology. However...they are always asking me to look something up, something printed, or they want something... :) [missinformation]
I live by myself, so yes the computer is not shared by anyone. [sindai]
we have one desktop pc at home and have thought about buying a new one many times but we really don't do that;) i share it with my younger brother but we don't mind sharing at all. i don't have any special wish of having my own as i can do all that i want on the one we already have.i m tolerant in nature so it's not a problem with me when it comes to share something with others:) but of course when we share, we try to consider each other's time and privacy on the computer. I think I would go bananas if we had to share LOL We did that with our first computer many many years ago, but then the kids were small and not using it, and me and hubby had different work hours, so it didn't make much of a difference. But now? It would be really interesting to see the fight LOL We put our own computers together,so he are fortunate to be able to have one for each member of the family, with spare pieces for more :) WE do share the internet connection but I can't say that it makes any difference that is noticeable. Not for us. [arkaf61]
We have one PC at home, so naturally everybody shares it. I find it nothing wrong to share with my family members. At office I have a PC for my exclusive use. [bhuvahsya]
well i do share my comp with my sister...although i know nobody will like to share his/her comp but the fact is datswot u call life!!!in a house generally u hav a single comp and u hav to share it with all ur family members...i do wish i had my own comp coz sumtimes i do fear abt my personal infos....but i m happy and taking life as it is coming... [hbk_maxy]
I use to share a computer with my husband which annoyed me because he seemed to think that he had priority so I always had to wait to get online. He also played Poker online so we got a lot of pop ups and it slowed our computer down. For Christmas this year I got a Dell laptop which I love. I have offered to let my husband use it, but I am actually just being curtious (?) and am usually relieved when he says he doesn't want to mess with it. [courtlynne77]
I have to share my computer with my wife. [simplytraffic]
Thankfully I have my computer all to myself. My husband is not really interested in it unless he wants me to look something up on it for him. He also works two jobs so does not really have time for it. [dianel]
I am shockingly lucky to have both a desktop and a laptop all to myself! My desktop is about a year and a half old and beginning to sound a little creaky, but it could do with a good clean. And my laptop is very new and zippy. [flirtyberry]
I have mine all to myself and I think I would hate to have to share it. I only live with my 19 year old son and he has no interest in the computer. He has Xbox live in his room which he loves. The only time he ever uses it is if he is looking for a car or info on one of his games. It doesn't happen often but I am always glad when he has finished - maybe 3 times this year -still too often. There are three computers in my house. One is mine (a laptop), one is my sister's and the other one is being shared among the three of us, especially between me and my dad. I would love to have a normal computer for myself and not a laptop but this might take time since I don't have a job right now therefore there's no money to spend on a fourth machine. Me and my dad used to share the same hard disk and there would always be problems, starting from stupid things like the Wallpaper which we used to change everyday. We solved everything by buying separate hard disks and placing them into removable closets, so we don't mess things up anymore and we stopped arguing :) [nageki]
I have what is technically my computer, but as it sits in the lounge I'm often found sat on the sofa with gritted teeth, while I politely wait for one of the housemates to get off it! Still, as long as they contribute to the broadband bill, I have to be patient. At least now we've got a wireless laptop so I can go and sit with that instead. [Phaedra_Scythe]
I do not share I have a lap top and my boyfriend has a desk top. Normally we dont share but every once and a while i let him use mine. My computer is new and has soe software that his does not so when he needs to write a letter or make a spread sheet which isnt very often he uses my computer. [shortgrl23]

Nope i share this computer with my little brother, but he hardly ever goes on the computer. [moneymaka]
i have my own PC and i dont have to share it with anybody else.actually nobody in my home is a computer savvy, except my dad,who most of the time access net in office not at home.and according to me everybody should use his/her own PC because now days PC people tends to have vital information in PC.and many passwords are remembered by PC and anybody can log on to your account.its ok if children want to play game on it. [tamanash]
Its very true wht you are sayong...it becomes very difficult when you ahve to share a computer with someone else.i know howit feel scoz when we had only one things ere really difficult....either i could not do my work or he coukld not do his work. [Devinarun]
Mine ,mine, mine, mine. It's all mine. When I get it back that is. Hopefully it will be back soon. I use to share one and that wasn't so bad. She had her stuff I had mine. I do have the privalage of sharing one with my mom until i get mine back. The only rule is no porn on it. I have no problem with that at all. [mikeyr6000le]
I am like you as i do have my own computer that i like to call my old jalopy ... LMAO!! It is second hand but it is new to me and that is what matters most! The only thing that sucks is that we only have dial up so i have to be courteous to others with the phone line! None the less i am very glad that i have my very own computer and i do not like to share unless it is with the children to play their games and such! [ronita34]
I think that if I had to share my computer with my family I would go nuts. It is my life line. My work is on here, I write alot of articles and essays. I keep my budget on here. My friends live in there! I have the laptop all to myself, and it was worth every penny I paid for it. Now, my older pc is used by my children, and they play games on it. Everyonce in a while, (yes they are supervised) they hit the wrong key, and everything goes crazy. I wouldn't trust them on the computer if I had my important info on it. So one is for them, the other is for me. Oh, my fiancee shares the computer with the kids, because he too is like a kid, and plays games mostly ; ) [violetaura]
Once you get your personal computer, there's no going bad (similar to the feeling when you switch from dialup to cable :P). But if there is a need -- maybe the "other" computer is down or something, sharing once in a while should be fine. :) [lordwarwizard]
I am a notebook for my self is not for share it becaus I don't like to all peoples can in my notebook. For me is beautiful wrting about mor information astrologe and not move or music.More people share they computer for move or music or play games in network private line.I don't agree but not interest me for thies people. Is a good question about computers.Thank you. [yunianina]
no i donot have computer of mine own this is of my roommate but i feel no difficulty sharing with him .we have developed a great sense of understanding in ourselves that we all use it comfortably. [aakashsachan]
I have a desktop computer which is mine, but my dad occasionally uses it as it is set up for video editing and Photography work, so has a lot of specialised software and hardware connected to it (like slide scanner, flatbed scanner, photo printer, video camera, digital SLR and all the software to go with it). I also have a MacBook laptop which I bought a couple of months ago, I use it at work (I'm a teacher and connect it to my interactive whiteboard in my class) and use it to do all my planning. I also use it to go on the internet obviously. Both computers are connected to a shared broadband connection, but the mac has the advantage of being wireless. My mum has her own laptop, which is good, because she likes to save lots of things that she sees online, and has lots of toolbars on her browser, which would drive me nuts! No one is allowed to interfere with my settings on my PC - it winds me up. That's the great thing about the mac - no one knows how to use it as well, so they leave it alone :D [Archduchess]
I do have to share this computer with my family, but they mostly let me use it 99.9% of the time that i want to, so it's basically like not having to share. We do have two computers hooked up to the internet through a router, so even when I'm online another family member can be online too, and that has eliminated a lot of the need for anyone else to be using the computer that I'm currently using at the times that I wish to use it during. And I do use the computer most of the day and night when I'm home, lol! I feel very lucky that I don't really have to share my computer time all that much, because I really would be at a loss without the internet. I'm totally addicted! *laugh* [shywolf]
I was unlucky. I must share computer with my husband. this doesn't feel well especially when I play games or chat online with friends he comes to change. Now I think maybe I should buy another computer. Its so important. [sunny_winter]
Hello, my name is Nicholas Pruett. I am lucky enough to have a computer to myself that I use independently. A few years back however I didn't have a computer do myself and had to share with my family which was a hassle and would not allow me to do many things I wished such as game for long hours. [techboggle]
I share mine with my boyfriend though we dont argue over who gets to go on it, it is used more by me and only used for games and the internet really [sharnad]
I share this one with my husband, the work pc is shared with others, whoever logs in at that workstation. If anything goes wrong with the home pc of course it is always my fault! [Sazzle]
My fiancé and I both have our own computers so we don't have to share, as we both had our own before we got together it made more sense to stick with this as we are both use to being able to get on and do what we are use to doing and not have to wait till the other one has finished. We have had to share a computer a few times in the past for different reason, the first time was when he first moved up to Scotland as we did not have everything we needed to have them both running at the time, since then it usually only happens if there is a problem with one or the other such as hardware failure and we have to wait on replacement parts to arrive. Like yourself we also share the internet connection. As the kids are at the stage where they want to be able to use the computer I let them use mine, this only happens when it is convenient as they are not allowed to use it unsupervised so either my fiancé or I will be sat beside them usually on the other computer, I don't mind them using mine although it can be slightly annoying if I am in the middle of something and I have all three asking if they can get on lol. [ScotsFerret]
one pc for my entire family [raisushkr]
