Do You Have A Laptop Or A Desktop Computer

Most people I know have laptop computers. I still only have my desktop. I do think having a laptop probably has more benefits because you can take it room to room which would really be nice, but I still like my desktop computer too. What kind of computer do you have, a laptop or a desktop?

[question posted by singlemommy]

responses and comments:

I have both and really prefer the desktop. Laptops can be a pain. They're too delicate, can be too small, and the battery wastes fast so I tend to plug it in for power. [smartie0317]
Yes, I've heard a lot of people say that their batteries go down fast and they have to plug theirs in for power. Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

You are better off with a desktop. If something breaks like a monitor or a keyboard then you simply replace it. If the same happens on a laptop it is cheaper to throw it away and buy another. Laptops are handy if you need a computer on the move, otherwise use a desktop is my experience. (I have both by the way) [smacksman]
Yes, I'm sure it probably is cheaper to just stick with a desktop. Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

I have a laptop. I got it about 2 years ago and gave my desktop to my daddy. I love my laptop. It takes up less space and just easier you can take it anywhere. [baileycows]
I'm sure your dad was thankful to get your desktop, that was nice of you. Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

i have both, but i like desktop more, cuz the radiation of the laptop is more than desktop. not good at healthy. [susanchen]

I just have a desktop. I would love to get a lap top because that means I can write my novel and get ideas while in the living room, watching Tv. I would not use it for myLotting though, but for novel writing. And also if we do go on a trip, I can take it with me and write my novel when I am staying at my relatives Or my husband's relatives and not have to use their computer. Also the idea of taking it from room to room might be nice, but since we just have a guest room, computer room, dining, and living room, kitchen, and basement and the later is not light enough that leaves the living room. [suspenseful]
And thanks for the best response. [suspenseful]

I have both. I use my desktop at home, but since I don't have internet there, I have a laptop to use at the library. I use the desktop for videos, photos, and music, things that require more hard drive and RAM. I use my laptop mainly for internet, and for downloading things to put on flash drive and transfer to my desktop. Also I use it for music, and some pictures and things when its more convenient to use on the go. Both have worked out fine for me. [connierebel]

I still have and prefer the desktop.I tried a laptop and had to get the wireless modem and still couldn't get signed on to the internet,no idea what I was doing wrong. When our nephew visited a couple years ago he was able to pick up the internet in the living room of the house. [stormygrl]

Well a laptop is more convienent since it is portable, and can travel with it too. Well I have a desktop computer, and it will not be long that I will buy a laptop, since we are all arguing who will use the computer. :) [GAUCI123]
Well, I hope buying a laptop with help settle the arguement. happy Good luck and thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

Hi, I also own a desktop, and prefer it more than a laptop. Though Laptop has it's mobility, a desktop is more powerful and easily upgradable than a laptop. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages, but still I am with desktops, though I would never regret buying a laptop. Regards, AJ-Rox [ajrox1810]

i have a desktop and i think desktops are good ,as they have good battery life , best value , very upgradable ,great performance , great for heavy gaming , photo rendering ,editing . etc. so considering all its benefits .... desktops are better [GAGAN187]

I have a laptop and have had it since 2007. Before that I had a desk top with a LCD screen. I have wireless broadband and so I can use my laptop anywhere in my home. I sit comfortably on my sofa using it compared to how I used to be at my desk when I had a desktop computer. My laptop takes up very little room. I have my printer upstairs and when I want to print something I take my laptop up there. [maximax8]

i have both a laptop and a desktop, i use the desktop to play games, do work. i use the laptop to download things like movies and music. [mkmoney]

I only have a desktop computer, but I would love to have a laptop as well. I could get so much more done if I was able to use the computer from somewhere other than the desk in the family room in the basement of the house. [lilybug]
Yes, I am like you. I think I could probably get a whole lot more down if I had a laptop, but I guess I have to make do with what I have. Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

I have both. In my house we have a total of 2 desktops, and 3 laptops. We be on the internet all the time at my house. [nchap36]
Oh wow! It sounds like you all are definitely online all the time! Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

I have a desktop computer, and I love it, I do want a laptop but it's just something that I would like to use on occasions, I really can't get used to the keyboard and not using a mouse, I just can't get it together on a laptop, I guess if I used it more ofter I would. Right now my desktop is the way to go. [Chevee]

LOL we have both but normally I use love usin my laptop cuz I can take it to the university n then use it to access the fast network there happy lotting and have a blessed new year [thecrazyjogger]

I'd rather have a laptop because I can bring the laptop around to places and it can still have internet connection, also I don't like desktops because you have to stay at one spot all the time to play on your computer, but on laptops you can move them around where ever you liked when you get bored of sitting in that one spot playing the computer, aha! [andrewdude]

I just recently got my laptop. I do like it alot but it's probably because I actually get computer time now.lol Before between my kids and my b/f,I was always waiting my turn and by the time I got it,it was late and I have to be up and going by 5am. I'd only get to be on a few minutes..so..I run across a good deal on ebay and bought my own.I'm very selfish with it too.lol [JenInTN]
I don't blame you. I share my computer with my daughter mostly, but I don't think I could handle sharing it with a lot of people, I would be like you and have to buy my own! Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

My fiance and I used to have a laptop until it broke and is non repairable. Now we use his momma and daddy's desktop. We're thinking about possibly getting another desktop but I don't know that we will. Right now we're trying to find a place that will scrap it or something without taking it to the dump. [SomeCowgirl]

I have an old desktop, an iMac, that I am hardly ever using. It has not been possible to upgrade the programs, too little memory, so I have used it sometimes when I have problems with my PC, which has not been happening often. My PC is easy to take in a bag everywhere, so I do that - together with a mobile Internet connection if I need my computer when I am away from home. The battery power lasts nowadays only less than 1/2 hour, but I plug in electricity of course... It works fine. Next time I buy a laptop, I will be looking for one that the battery can be removed easily from the side, when I am connected to the electricity. That way the battery lasts much longer. cool..happy [buenavida]
I am not familiar with the new Mac laptops, but maybe they work with the same programs as Windows, but better ask someone who is selling the Mac computers. I know that earlier Mac had a Painting program - it was really a way to paint instead of using oil or water color - instead of a mouse there was something like a pen - I saw a friend who is professional artist using it.. It is difficult to recommend which computer is the best in your case. It depends what you are using it for, but I think Mac is good for pictures, photo and graphics. They probably have lots of new programs.. Why not go to their site and see what they have to offer?? [buenavida]

I have a desktop, but my son has a laptop and I had to use it one day and I did not like it. It was hard for me to use, I will keep using my desktop!!! [sweetpeasmom]
When I have borrowed someone's laptop I have found that the keys seem to be hard for me to type on for some reason. Thanks for the comment! [singlemommy]

I've been using a laptop since last year. I love how I can take it to any room but there are great benefits to having a dekstop computer. I think mist of them are more sturdy for one thing lol. I take great care of my laptop but I have had to send it in for repairs. [JashleyB]

We have both, but I se the laptop the most. [kellys3ps]

I had a dekton in my house, and im working with desktop in my office, but i love desktop too, so that iam planning to buy new laptop in this year, but how much its posible i dont know, because of my financial situation, anyway i hope to buy a laptop in this year, eventhough desktop is very handy for me and my family members too..lol [pspvasanth]

I have both, but my desktop has more softwares so I use desktop more often. I use laptop when I travel, because my work is so depend on the internet even on vacation, I still need to login [maria_k]

hi, singlemommy happy i have a laptop. although, it is more expensive than a desktop computer, i chose to buy a laptop because i also need a computer at the office. so i carry it around with me because i am so dependent on it. have a nice day! cool [Rainegurl]

I have a desktop comuter? laptop is easy to carry and and portable, I have desktop computer, I know how to troubleshoot everything in desktop computer that's what i prefered desktop, softwares and hardware related problems i can troubleshoot, If it is laptop, if i got any problem, I have to go service centre. In desktop related everything in my hand. [kishorebabu4u]

i have a desktop at home and office but due to frequent travelling have a laptop also.i prefer desktop when at home or office but with many things in my laptop have been using it more nowadays.most of the time am glued with my laptop.at home the kids are busy with desktop and in office have the option of using both laptop and desktop. [aakay4u]

i too hav desktop. i luv laptops . and i m planning to take one soon. [jyotimishra]

i have a desktop computer but i prefer a laptop so that it can be handled easily and comfortably. and there wont be any need to sit in front the big monitor in a perfect posture as such we be while using desktop computers [munna091]

I do not own any laptop. Actually I don't quite like using one. The advantage of course is its mobility, but within the house, I don't really need this mobility. Instead I have two PCs at home, situated in my study room and networked together. One is used by my wife and the other by me. We use our PCs all the time, and they are usually on for many hours a day. It's the best thing we have cos we do lots with them like working, surfing, communicating with others, doing internet business, listening to music, watching videos, playing games and doing graphics creations. [lexus54]

I still own only a desktop pc but I plan on getting a MacIbook soon [davidabraham]

I have as my main home computer a desktop and prefer this because the keyboard is bigger, so is the screen and it is much faster than the laptop I have for when I am away. I find it more difficult to type on the laptop for the first few days of being away because my fingers hit a lot of the wrong keys. After a few days though, I get used to it and it's feels OK. :-)Derek [derek_a]

I still have my desktop. My husband has his laptop because he needs it for work. He says he will get me one sometime. I'm still waithing on it! lol No I don't mind having my desktop one. I like it, and it still works really good. I dont need a laptop for now anyway but later on if I do get one I plan to give this one to my son. [Bensmom]

I am using a laptop now. I find it convenient to use than desktop because you can bring it anywhere where you want. But when a laptop encounters problems such as if it needed repairs as what I've experienced 2 months ago, I would probably prefer to have a desktop. The repairs really costs that much. HUGZ always and Happy New Year to you! [dhangski]

I have a desktop computer, my husband had a desktop and a laptop, until last week, when his desktop died while I was doing Mylot. My computer has been acting up for the last month. I thought I had it fixed, but then I started getting these antivirus programs to download. I finally, this morning restored it back to December, when I last had it running correctly. so far, it seems to be working, I hope it continues. I do not like using my husband's laptop, I prefer to navigate with a mouse. [sudalunts]
That is a big point too. I like having a mouse to navigate with too. [singlemommy]

Hi singlemommy! I am looking at my monitor and typing at my keyboard on my very reliable black desktop computer. I am currently on a frenzy of buying a laptop specifically a macbook for our thesis making this year. I fell in love with mac since its so stylish, and my prof said that it can't be infected by virus (or if yes, it still is better than windows for that matter) Its mobility that can help me in my studies. For the past few weeks or even months [I guess HAHA] I've been dreaming of owning one. Everyday, I always open my Desktop computer to do my homework but always end up surfing the net spying for a macbook wishing that prices will drop one day and even checking if there are offers of a used mac but with no defects and good condition for a good price. My uncle said that desktop computers are better than laptop because laptops heat more since desktops can be used for the whole day without any problems of heat. The only problem with desktops is that they are like trees, planted in one place and can't be pulled out and bring to other places unlike laptops. I can also imagine myself having an eye difficulty in case I have my laptop since the screen and the keyboards are best friends there. I need to stay close to them as well and be part of the group. But I guess its just me. I dunno the others and I hope its not what I think it is because it would be such pain in the head and eyes if that is. HEHE Both have advantages and disadvantages. I guess it only depends on the user's needs on whether what benefits him/her/them the most. [mskzalameda]

Hey, I have a laptop, had a desktop but it died right in front of me! Well, actually the hard drive stopped reading USB drives coz their was no electricity in it. In a way I like laptops over desktops because they are a LOT smaller and easier to bring to school, college and far more convenient if you have a small desk like me! And if you want, you can sit in bed and still type away on your laptop freely without having to even get up out of bed. :D [EliteUser]

I am still using the desktop but I am planning to buy laptop pretty soon. My job demand that I have computer with me wherever I go and since I don't have a laptop yet, I purchased a flash drive to carry it with me wherever I go. Luckily, computer cafe are everywhere here so I don't have difficulty accessing it. [anneshirley]

I have both. I use my laptop for college. But desktop can be better as there are better speakers and the performance is better. Laptop sometimes can be a pain in the neck when the battery run out. And for my case my laptop battery is spoilt and it usually can stand for max 15 minutes now (compared to 3hrs when i first bought it):( it spoiled so fast because usually i plug in the power and forgot to take my battery out when its already fully charged. so TIP to everyone, take out your battery when its fully charged for a longer battery life [szechow_ong]

I use desktop..i have a laptop too..but i like to work on my desktop only... [brijesh8899]

I actually have both, but I prefer a desktop just because of the fact that I don't really like how the keyboards feel on the laptop, While I'm at home my laptops plugged up most of the time, unless I get tired of sitting somewhere and don't feel like bring the charger with me when I move. Battery life wiser I don't think it's been that bad [foxwolf91]

I got rid of my desktop computor ...4 years ago...that was the time i suppose the laptops became affordable for me...well i dont see any cons of having a laptop -it saves precious space in your home -its portable(take it wherever you like) -it works on your lap ;-) well my question is why should we have a desktop when a similar configuration laptop is available to us at comparable prices..my prediction is that desktops will become obsolete in the days to come ..may be we will have to visit a museum to show our next generations how it looked like... [maverickwarrior]

I have 2 desktops, and my wife as the laptop. I plan on buying me a laptop at some point when I have saved enough money, from my online earnings, maybe. She is able to use her laptop all over the house as we have it networked. She is able to take it with her and use it at any of the restaurants that offer free wifi Services to their customers. Some places she can just sit in the parking lot of the place without having to go into the building at all. Laptops equal convenience but have a create chance of potential damage. Desktops offer stability and routine. The only real way of damaging a desktop is if you regularly eat at the desk or place you have it stored. At least you always know where to find it. Sometimes when you're tired, you may forget where you left your laptop. [hdjohnson]
Good deal. I know a couple of good friends that sell computers and laptops. My father in law and brother in law actually build them from scratch, so I'm probably going to save for the basic parts needed and allow them to add all of the goodies that I would need in order to do the things that I'm planning to do. Happy New Year! [hdjohnson]

Hai Singlemommy! I have been using desktop computer since 2001. Still I feel good with my desktop computer. With some modification, I am very very comfortable with this computer. [aminul8427]

I use desktops. I am not familiar with laptops. I do like laptops. I think laptops are great for people who travel a lot. I think both has its own benefits and disadvantages. [ajithlal]

I have both, use the laptop the most. [Chocobear]

I have both a PC and laptop. I much prefer my laptop. Since buying the laptop last spring my kids have taken over the PC and it is really, really slow because of all the stuff they have downloaded and making separate user files. I still go on it occasionally because the WORD program is different than the one on my laptop and they are not exactly compatible. I can't seem to get single spacing on my laptop (Windows 2003). There are also a couple of other programs on the PC that I don't want to put on the laptop for fear of slowing it down. I use my laptop 99% of the time. [patgalca]

An ageing MacBook Pro laptop. [wreckfish]

I have a destop computer. I would love to have a laptop when I get the mone to buy one with. That way I can take it with me. I spend a lot of time waiting at doctors offices for my mother and would love to have a laptop with me on those visits. happy [sweetbabyjane]

Hi singlemommy, We have a desktop...I gave my laptop to my Sister when I quit my job but I wish I will be able to get another one because it is really nice to have especially when I am out or on a trip! But, this time being a full time housewife, I enjoy using our desktop.....happyhappyhappy [checapricorn]

Hi singlemommy~ I have a desktop computer. I am happy with it since I have never had anything else. Sometimes I do wish that I did have a laptop so I could take it into the bed with me on some cold nights when I just want to get under the covers and still be able to mylot! Or if I know that I am going somewhere and will have time to use the computer and would like to have it with me I would like to have a laptop. But, it is an expense that I just can't afford at this time, so I will just have to be happy that I do at least have my desktop computer! It certainly is better than not having any at all so I don't want to complain! [Opal26]

I have a desctop computer and a laptop.I still prefer using my ordinary computer instead of the laptop. It`s faster and it`s not with Vista.Lol.Having laptop has it`s benefits like you can use it for a quick post here or just to send little message. My problem is that my battery goes down really fast even on "power saver" so I just use my computer while I am at home or ifin my room it`s cold I just go with the laptop (pluged) in some other room.Happy MyLotting! [misspipsi]

Both. But its more convinient to work on desktop. It can perform heave tasks compared to Notebooks because the processors are not as powerful as dekstops [loveshoby]

I have a desktop computer and its the only kind I've ever had. I've used a laptop before and I couldn't get used to the fact that it didn't have a mouse, I kept looking for it..lol. I guess a laptop does have its advantages, its portable, but I don't think I'd want to carry it around with me everywhere. [walijo2008]

I have an ancient laptop, not really used much. We have two desktops in our office though, one is use mainly, but the other is used if my spouse and I are doing something together. I like the ability to run any program on my PC, as laptops seem to have problems with some applications. [UtopianIdealist]

I have both. 1 Desktop and 2 laptops. I am a graphic designer and the laptop comes in real handy. It allows me to create designs when I am working with a customer. for tee-shirts, mousepads, Business Cards and even sales flyer designs or catalogs. I work with a beauty supply company creating there flyers and monthly catalog, so when I am on a deadline. I use the laptop to transfer from one computer to the work computer. I love my laptop. [tonniek02]

I only have desktops. I use one desktop to watch movies, listen to music and surf on internet, and another one to study, code and do experiments. While i'm not sitting in front of my computers, i may be reading, doing exercises, shopping or talking with friends. I think this is a good lifestyle. I'd like to have some computer-free moments everyday. So desktop is good and enough for me. [linfang]

I have both but the newer one is my beloved laptop so my little daughter uses the desk top which keeps her quiet for hours! I love my laptop because I am a writer and I used to spend hours in the office away from my family and now I can check emails etc... while sitting in the lounge room with everybody or better still outside in the garden. Changing to laptop was life changing, it really was! And yes it is a bummer about the battery life! [paula27661]

I have both. I prefer my laptop. I travel with it and take it with me to many places. I like to be able to use it in different Rooms in my house. The kids use the desktop most of the time. [royal52gens]

i also have a desktop with is pretty good. still thinking about someday getting a laptop. [JWolf0825]

I have laptop at home. Indeed, the laptop has many benefits for us, especially when traveling outside the city and the work that we accumulate so bring a laptop to work while on the way. [teguhys]

Well, I have a laptop and a desktop. I use my laptop most of the time at home and at the office. Usually it is my wife who uses the desktop at home when there are very important matters to do. It is really much more easier and comfortable to use the laptop as compared to the desktop.happy [jpso138]

I have both, but use my desktop most often. My laptop is old and outdated, and I am hoping to get a new one in the next year or two. It will depend on jobs and finances, etc. Yeah, I really loved using my laptop, and it was great when we used to go on vacation or visiting relatives, because I could still work no matter where we were. We don't travel as much now, so I don't miss it. But hoping when I get the laptop to finally go wireless too. [quinnkl]

i personally have a laptop. my kids have a desktop. i love my laptop it's a Sony VAIO and it's very reliable. happy posting! [caskins]

I have both a laptop and desktop computer and prefer the desktop computer. The laptop's keyboard is too "small" for me sometimes and the screen as well. [AKMEDIA2]

i think both will have its own benefits. a laptop, you can bring it anywhere but i think the maintenance is pricey than desktop. [donnakristel]

I have a desktop and have no desire to have a laptop. I never have had a desire for one. I am satisfied with my desktop and it does everything I need it to do. And I am not one of those people who would like moving from room to room with a laptop. So I am very satisfied with my desktop. [sunshinelady]

I have a desktop computer. It has a p4 processor with 2.0 GHZ speed. The speed of my pc is okay right now.I'm having an assembled computer.I also have a set of stereo speakers.I am also having an inkjet printer with an adsl router.happyhappy [vicky30]

I have a laptop in the office where I can bring home and I also have an old desktop given to us(my brother and I) by our mother. [shalybhe29]

Hi, am still with my desktop computer but really i thinking of buying a laptop... but the problem with laptop is that not every technician can repair them and its very hard to upgrade even though am a future computer technician (still studying).. well, it have many advantages though.... [shehzu]

Well I have laptop and a desktop computer. It is always good to have a backup computer just in case one computer crashes. My desktop is used by my sisters and brothers so it crashes a lot. My laptop is used by only me because I earn my money online and through a computer so it is a #1 priority. Therefore , investing in a laptop in addition to your desktop would be a wise decision if you are really an ONLINE MONEY MAKER. [mslovely101]

I have a desktop but it is a Macintosh. I use it for design and photography work. My husband has a laptop he uses for work. They provide it for him. My oldest son just got a laptop to use for college next August and the younger kids have a desktop. SO we have an array of computers in our home. [tammytwo]

i have both a laptop and a desktop.n i use both of them under different conditions [abhilashsoman]

hi there,,, well i too have my desktop with me and i love it [ujjwalbatra]

hi singlemommy, i have Desktop computer with me. take care. [vimaal]

I have a desktop computer but my girlfriend has a laptop and that's what I usually use to get on the computer. My girlfriend's laptop gets really hot after using it for like an hour or two so I can't use it for very long at a time. My desktop computer is really slow but still can run forever and hold a bunch of information and tabs. [jambi462]

i have a desktop computer. and i was happy with it until i started working. since i need to be online when i work its better to have a laptop as you can just carry it where ever you want to. with a desktop the portability is lost. but with a desktop you are less prone to backaches as you have to sit on a chair to access a desktop pc. where as a laptop you can just sleep and use it ,which can lead to backaches. so i tinks its better to use a desktop computer. happy mylotting!!!! [peterbarretto08]

I just have a laptop right now. My desktop died and I want to get another one. Laptops are handy to move around as you said, but they're not comfortable to me to do a lot of serious work on. If you use them all day, you have to plug them in anyway because the battery won't last that long. It was good when I had both. [peavey]

Well I have both, but only because my husband had one when we got married. I've always just had a desk top computer although I do see the benefits of having a laptop, especially when we go on a long car trip. This really does help to pass the time away. [RobsWife10706]

I have a desk top computer, but I can understand where you are coming from on how laptops are so convenient and you can bring them with you any where. I hope to get a lap top one of these days. [trisha_nava82]

I too still only have my desktop computer. I would like the benefits of a laptop computer because I could take it with me. There are places like Barnes and Noble where it would just be nice to go and sit and work on different writing projects and do Internet projects also. On the other hand I do also love having a desktop computer however at this point my desktop computer needs to be replaced with a newer model and a more current operating system. So really if I could have it all I would like two computers, both a desktop and a laptop. But that's just me. [keithstieneke]

in my family,we have a desktop and a laptop,my husband and i each use one.i think the performance of desktop is better than a laptop, you know, laptop often gets a problem, contracted virus and hard to repair [vikeyshuy]

Just take it easy. Which type is better depends on what you need. At home, for instance, you needn't to carry the computer around. Therefore, a desktop computer will be the better choice. What is more, you can get much greater performances desktop computer with same money than laptop computer. Whereas going on a trip or getting to work, it will be preferable to have one laptop computer if you know what I mean. [chriswolf]

I have one of each, although I am not using the desktop. It is still workable but is very slow and is not currently hooked up. I have information on it htat I would like to take off of it, and then I will probably leave it in the other room for the grandchildren when they are here, and old enough to play games on it or use it for other things that they might need. I do like the laptop much better, but it rarely is moved from where it is on the desk. [idowrite72]

I have a laptop and a desktop, but I mainly use my laptop. Actually I haven't used my desktop since I got my laptop lol. It is nice being able to take it to whatever room I want to, and outside. I also like being able to take it with me on trips. I will probably end up selling my desktop or giving it to one of my daughters. [palonghorn]

Laptop here right now.. Had desktop years ago but now I am only bying laptops every 4 years approximately, while sellin the old ones. Much less costly than upgrading a desktop computer. [dinos1]

I really like having both and good thing that we do at home. (^_^ ) I have more affinity with our desktop computer since I often handle it more. Laptops are convenient, we could all agree to that but, I find desktops to be more customize-able. You can upgrade more parts compared to the laptop. Could handle more I could say again. Anyway, right now, our desktop is out of order. Must've happened while I was away. Need to fix it.. (>_< ) [ratyz5]

I have both..Desktop is a little more lumpish, inconvenient to move, but performance is more excellent,,,The laptop is delicate, handy moving from room to room,,,SO i often use the Desktop to play internet games, whorecraft,,,, i use my laptop to do work, writing paper, chatting with my friends on the internet, start my mylot,,,listen music, watching moves, when i am on a business trip, i often take my laptop, it is hard to have a trip carrying my Desktop.. i love both of them... SUch big help, they give to me!!! [shenqixu]

I have a desktop now but I want to have a laptop really badly. The main reason I want to have a laptop is because it's hard for me to physically write because of my disability. If I had a laptop I could take it to writing group and participate more fully. [cripfemme]

I have both but I prefer using the laptop. Laptops these days could pretty much compete with desktop pcs as to speed and processing power. I like using the laptop coz if I get bored working in my room, I just take the laptop with me and work somewhere else. Anyway, have a good one. [sixclix]

I use a laptop, but we do have an older desktop for the kids. Our laptop battery has been messed up for a long time so we just leave it plugged in all the time now. I guess it is pretty much the same as a desk top now. The only thing I can say is better about it is that it doesn't take up much space on the desk and you can easily fold it up and put it away. I would like to get my daughter a new flat screen for her computer becasue her monitor is huge and takes up a ton of space. [breezie]

I usually use my laptop because I can usually bring it anywhere anytime I wanted to work on something. But I couldn't rely much on my laptop's processor and memory these days and so I use my brother's desktop when running memory hungry programs. Laptops are really convenient when you have to carry it around with you most of the time, but the thing is desktops are easier to upgrade unlike laptops. Now I think I have to buy a new laptop.
