My hubby David put some new wallpaper on my computer yesterday. Mine is of Stonehenge because we both come from families with Celtic backgrounds. That led me wondering if others in Mylot Land have special wallpaper and/or screen savers on their computers. If you I'd like to hear what they are and why you chose them. If not I'm interested in knowing that too. Too much bother to install? Don't need them? Or whatever other reason you might have.
I have included the image of Stonehenge that is on my monitor. As a screen saver I have some squiggly pipe like configurations that come and go in different colors, sizes and shapes. Although I am hardly away from my computer enough for it to come on.

My partner and i have recently got ourselves a cool little digital camera, so of course we have now taken a million photos. I have put every one of those photos on to my computer and have now put them on as my screen saver. They just randomly flash on to the screen every few seconds. Its great too cos we all just sit and watch them for hours on end. On our monitor we have a gorgeous photo of me, my partner, my two kids and his 3 kids. I love having my whole brood right there to sit and watch at all times. [nurrynoo]
Hi Mooch...sounds like this comment is one for the perfection discussion. One of my big life lessons to learn was figuring out when enough really is enough. However, I do appreciate the 'drool factor' with cameras. I am looking to the day when I can upgrade our digital. The good thing is for me that it will be a valid tax deduction because I need a camera when I report on news stories and other writing assignments. Good luck with manifesting your dream camera! I use a photo of my 3 sisters for wallpaper. It was taken at my nephews wedding. [Goodie123]
Ahhh what I lovely idea. My photo of Stonehenge didn't show up...but that is fine I like hearing other ideas anyway...and may change mine after reading what others are doing. Thanks for popping by again! Raia [Perspectives]
I use photos from my own collection of my photo library and use the "tile" effect. I change the photo image according to the time/season..for instance for Halloween I had one of my Halloween set-up photo, for Thanksgiving a thanksgiving shot, same with Christmas, and New Years. I did do something a little different though for my picture now. I have a "wolf" thing if you remember and is my totem animal..I found this great drawing of two wolves in the snow...so that is my screensaver image now.. [pyewacket]
Oh Pye...I commented on the photo and gave it a plus. It is beautiful! As I mentioned in the comment on it wolves are one of my power animals as well. I am sure their attributes augment all you do in communicating ideas and sharing your voice...as they do so well in their natural habitats. Lovely addition...thanks my friend. Raia [Perspectives]
I have a screensaver that's a picture of a forest of evergreens, some of them snow-covered. I'm not sure what it's called or where it came from...lol. If you have somewhere I could get some good screen savers or wallpaper for my computer I'd appreciate it. I'd like something different! Although mine hardly ever comes on either! Annie [anniepa]
Hi Annie...back again. Hope you found what you were looking for. Cheers, Raia [Perspectives]
I do have a nice wall paper[I didn't know that this desktop screen is referred to as wallpaper till now-]on my desk top. This is one nice picture taken of Kalathope in the Himalayas. Last year i had the opportunity to visit the Himalayas and my son clicked to his heart's content. These pictures are on my screen and they are perodically changed. I prefer a lot of greenery and flowers on the screen because I feel happy looking at these.. My son likes rugged terrain, snow capped peaks and beautiful photographs taken of sun/moonlight reflected in sea water. Those adorn his laptop. My husband does not have any preferences. I was amazed by the intricacy of those stonehenges and I was staggered to know that they had to be carried by huge numbers of people . Even now, it is mindboggling to think of those. [kalav56]
Hello friend... I always enjoy sharing our 'thinkers' discussions but I decided to mix them up with topics that allow all of to learn a little more about each other..as friends in regular life do. Knowing about friends special interests, hobbies, food preferences and even what they like to surround themselves with adds a more personal touch to the exchanges we have. So thanks for adding what you have as wall paper on your screen and why. Yes, Mylot is a great place to pick up bits and bites of information...just one of the many reasons we all love being here. It must have been an amazing experience to go to the Himalayas. Nature in all its glory! I didn't check...did the photo of Stonehenge finally show up...thanks for making me aware of it if it did. When I posted the discussion the photo was missing. Oh well..our computers some times we love them...other times we bang our heads on the keyboard. (smiles) Thanks for all your contributions here...always appreciated! Raia [Perspectives]
I have my kids family picture as my screensaver. My daughter, son in law and two wonderful grandchildren. I spend as much time as I can on my computer and I love to see the smiling faces. They are my life. [Grandmaof2]
Thank you...little late in replying here. But with Tasha's passing and all the touching moving replies I have been making there is only so much time. I trust you know that my well wishes are from my heart to yours...because we've shared so many genuine chats this past year. Look forward to more! Hugs to you my sweet friend.. Raia [Perspectives]
I use webshots so I guess right now I have a beautiful black horse running through water but when the screen goes into power save I get a nice slideshow of either cute, artsy or awe inspiring pictures. Landscapes mostly. [artemis432]
That approach sounds really kewl...great idea and thanks for sharing it! Raia [Perspectives]
Actually yes... I have the 1970 Coca Cola Racing Red Ford Mustang of Allan Moffat on my desktop. Moffat was my favourite racing driver in the 70's. You can find the Mustang on my website. Moffat was born in Canada and moved to Australia in the sixties to become one of Australia best racing drivers. He is a legend here. I actually bought a new screen saver in 2006... but I have not used it for the last twelve months. I am burning DVDs every day... and I am worry that it might interfere with my applications. But I still have the Windows screensaver going... with the Windows logo. [Aussies2007]
A Canadian/Australian race car driver. Our neighbors would probably know of him because they are huge Nascar fans. So much so that their living room is being turned into a black, white and red room full of all their various nascar collectibles. Your reasons for watching what screen savers and wall paper David puts on his system are for similar reasons to yours. He is always burning DVD's too. I will take a look at the Mustang on your site because you piqued my curiosity..as it it isn't active enough already. Good thing I have reporting and journalism as an outlet or I'd probably drive David and friends to distraction. I know my 'why, what, where when' thinking was the bane of my parent's existence growing up...always posing questions to people. That is why this site works so well for me...lots of questions....and lots of answers about everything and anything. Gotta luv it! Raia [Perspectives]
my screensavers is the followers its group of fish its like gold fish they are 7 followers and the leader is with stripe color its simple but its cute for me:-) [pinay81]
Yes, it does sound cute. We are big fish lovers too and have four aquariums varying in size from 135, 70, 50 and 25 gallons. We are not into tropicals...but love Kois, goldfish, comets, shabunkins, black moors...and other cold water fish...they are stronger and much easier to care for. Anyway, thanks for your input...happy swimming to you and your cute fish! Raia [Perspectives]
I do have one, it's a photo of my niece. I haven't thought of putting anything that siuts or interests me, so I decided to just put her own photo in the background instead of me!LoL Some of them I just choose on what's available here in my computer, I don't have much time to install or download some so it doesn't really for me how it looks.. [raijin]
Hi Raijin...I think that is a nice touch. I am sure she feels quite special to know her uncle chose a photo of her...kids value things like that! Good choice in my view...and obviously yours! Raia [Perspectives]
This is my desktop. The picture is one of two I kept from an e-mail that a friend sent me several months to a year ago. I have no idea what or where this place is, but it's one of the most peaceful-looking pictures I've ever seen. I would love to spend a day there and take it all in. [santuccie]
Hello santuccie...love your cute Avatar. I am an animal lover and have 2 dogs...but I also love our 5 cats and enjoy seeing cat Avatars. I have too many pets to pick one so I chose an owl because they are a power animal to me and are on the logo for my writing company. Anyhow...back to the topic. I love your screen saver and yes it is certainly does give off a feeling of serenity. Good choice in todays busy world. I rated it a plus but could not comment because we are not on each other's friend list. Thanks for sharing though! Raia [Perspectives]
I certainly do. I have a favorite photo of each of my 3 chihuahuas and I use one for a couple of months then the next one get his/her turn to be be my wallpaper. For wall paper I like the animated ones, at the moment I have have a winter scene with snow falling. [whiteheather39]
Ahh...yes...our special furry family members. I had thought about doing that but with 2 big dogs and 5 cats I have never been able to round them all up and get them in the same photo at the same time and don't want to play favorites...or have to keep changing their photos around. When I tried to add my Stonehenge one it didn't show up. I am in the process of looking for a gray or horned owl...as if I don't have enough in my office already! Your photo of gently falling snow sounds peaceful and it is fun to change them as the mood strikes us...and there are enough free ones out there for allow us to have our screens reflect who we are and what we like. That is why I enjoy discussions like these...we continue to learn more about valued friends at the same time. Raia [Perspectives]
Hello dear Raia, my perspective friend. I love to use my own photo and my family members' and friends' photo as my wallpaper for a change after some time. It is always very nice to see different wallpapers on the computer screen if they are changed sometimes. But I think that the stonehenge is very meaningful to you since you have mentioned that your hubby and you both come from families with Celtic backgrounds. Thank you. [williamjisir]
Hi and nice to hear what best reflects what you enjoy looking at on your computer. Too bad the photo of Stonehenge didn't show up when I posted the discussion. However, because of your comments and interest I asked David to help me...and in his inimitable computer techie style it worked! So now you see what I have. I like to change screen savers as the spirit moves me. Right now I am looking for one of a gray or horned owl. Owls are a power animal for me and also the logo for my writing company. I respect their unique way of turning their heads to see things from a higher perspective...so that is just of of the many reasons I respect their special attributes. Most enjoyable sharing ideas and insights with you my friend. Always glad to have you here... Your friend beaming good thoughts back your way! Raia [Perspectives]
I change by Wallpaper every other week it seems. I am really big into fairies... Yeah, My family thinks I am crazy, but I have read a lot about fairies and love the colorful wallpaper and backgrounds. [jeni_fini]
Hi and thanks for your input. Well maybe your family thing you are crazy...but you'd be right at home in ours. Both my hubby and I have roots that go deep into Celtic folklore and the 'magic and enchantment' that the faerie realm suggests is something many with Celtic backgrounds absolutely accept. My mother was Irish/Welsh and British and raised me with a belief that faeries and leprechauns are there...just within a realm beyond. Just because our current level of awareness to see them does not mean they do not exist...just like many other things that are beyond our pragmatic five-sense thinking modes. Anyway I am veering off into a whole other 'realm'...good to know you love faeries...I do to! Enjoy... Raia [Perspectives]
My Wallpaper is a personal image that I took in Gettysburg almost a year ago, and I have to say its one of my personal favorites, while a professional may tell me that there is white balance issues with it, It still makes it no less one of my personal favorite pictures Photography has been an obsession with me for the past 15 years, and I have to say right now, whether I ever get into a freelance job or not, is not totally important, I still love to go out and take pictures, and my youngest daughter loves to take images as well and she has actually gotten some really good shots too. Mooch [oneandonemakesix]
I commented and rated this photo a plus. I appreciate the 'feel' of this shot. There is a timeless quality to it and can appreciate why you love it. Photography is a passion for me as well. I feel fortunate to have work that satisfies my shutter bug urges that have been there since early childhood. The reporter side of my free lance work pays me well for being able to add photography with my submissions. My parents bought me a camera when I was really young because they were aware of my endless curiosity about most everyone and everything. Like you both David and I love to take the camera and drive around old country roads and snap pictures of abandoned buildings, nature, the sky, wildlife and most anything else within the natural world. Like you we do it because we love it. Lovely photo and I always appreciate hearing what you have to say my friend. Raia [Perspectives]
I did have a resent pic of Chey on the monitor now I have put the one of the lights up in front yard for Christmas will have to change it again later lol and I already have put the pic on here so cant do another one of the same shot. It only takes a few 2nds to change it just haveto find what pic I want to change it too. If I am away from puter the screen goes blank I use to on old puter have all kinds of horse pic changeing all the time. [Lakota12]
nope I dont need anything else! awwww thanks for that Linda thought I hated CHey when she was born for hubby only lasted 20 days after. I just didnt have much to do with her it wasnt that what LInda thought at all. But I Was mad that he seemed to go down hill faster after she was born and I was so into my greif I just couldnt respond to her like LInda thought I should. But I was never one to just hold a baaby just for the holding. For a young one like that get sore from to much handling and we had plenty here to do the holding for about a week after hubby passed. The next June I took Chey with me to family reunion just me and her then Linda thinks we bonded more then and that was over a 1,000 miles round trip! [Lakota12]
Up until a couple of days ago I had a black and white photo that I took as my wallpaper. It is of all 4 of my children. I arranged them on the floor and took their picture standing over them. A day or two ago my husband must have changed it because now the wallpaper is a picture of me kissing our youngest daughter. My screen saver is bubbles. I love it. They are lightly colored and the colors change but you can still see your screen beneath them. [moneyandgc]
Yes I did...and thanks for asking! Raia [Perspectives]
My wallpaper right now is a picture of my son at Christmas time. My screen saver is a mixture of pictures that I've taken and it's in a slideshow. [sweetgirl_k1]
Your screen saver sounds special...and truly significant to you. You and a few others who have commented have created a creative urge to make a screen saver out digital slide show as well. I don't know why I didn't think about it before...too busy or something. Gotta love Mylot and the great people here...sharing ideas is soooooo much fun! Like your beach scene...a refreshing break for those of who are deep in the throws of winter...and piles of snow! Cheers, Raia [Perspectives]
I do not have anything special for my my computer wallpaper at all. At the moment I have a sunflower field as my background, I change it frequently. As for my screen saver I have a slide show of pictures of the BF. [razcal2267]
Sun flowers are nice...in our rural community we have acres and acres of them in the fall. During the season I love watching them thrive and follow the sun until the first frost...then their 'heads' are bowed in one last gasp of life. Oh my, the writer in me is running amok...sorry..but your screen saver got my writing brain in gear. I think it is sweet that you have a slide show of your sweetie...nice idea and I am sure he appreciates it too...quite an honor! Thanks for your input.. Raia [Perspectives]
Hi Perspectives, I do not have any special wall papers are screen savers. I had to do a system recovery and everything is back to its original state; and it is what I prefer right now. Needing simplicity and security right now he he he. Take Care. [adforme]
Hi to you too.. Your approach is like my computer techie hubs. He works on the keep it simple principle too because he is constantly being called to 'fix' what others have inadvertently done to complicate their computer systems. We all do what works! (smile) Raia [Perspectives]
I am currently using my Windows Vista Ultimate Wallpaper but no screensaver. I just keep my system simple and use the internet often. [darkangel079]
Hi, welcome to Mylot and thanks for dropping by here. Your approach is akin to my husbands...yes, keep it simple is a good motto for most things in life. So long for now... Raia [Perspectives]
I am mad about the stuff on this website, and will be busy changing my wallpaper with these pics for awhile: http://fenomen.deviantart.com/ fenomen on deviantART I am currently using this one because it looks just like me without a face: [zigzagbuddha]
Good photo...great explanation..and an interesting site. You sure packed a wallop on this short, concise...but very meaningful addition. Just goes to show...eloquence is often best expressed with brevity. Thanks my friend... Raia [Perspectives]
I change my wallpaper every now and then. But they're always pictures of cute cats I have seen in the internet. Now I have this wallpaper of a cat in a shoebox looking out. So cute! :) [glitzypurple]
Sure you can...if it will add to your collection why not? I am not sure what or how copyright things work here on Mylot...but for personal use and pleasure...absolutely...enjoy our little Tigger shot! He grew into a really big, cuddly cat...the biggest of the five. Raia [Perspectives]
Well its funny but my wall paper changes with my mood.At times when i love the color blue i had a paper showing a sky with light drizzle. Then at times had a family snap, at times it was of me and my fiancee, then of my sis and her friend. Now that i am married they have a snap of my wedding. At home my hubby has kept one of his family with his sister brother in law with their new born son.Ofcourse his parents r included. No place for me i guess but if given a chance i would love to have my little daughters snap. [coolimrose]
You have quite a rotating circle of special wall papers from the sound of it. That is the fun and creative part of it...changing them as often as our mood does. Thanks for sharing yours.. Raia [Perspectives]
I attached a picture of what my desktop looks like. I don't use a screen saver, if I'm not at my computer, I just turn the monitor off. For a long time (well, since mid-July of 2007) I had pictures from my trip to California as my desktop wallpaper. But I needed a change, so this is my current one. However, I will probably go back to the other one at some point - some REALLY great memories... The man in this one? John Krasinski from "The Office." [goodnightmoon]
No problem, I still have some responses I need to reply to from over a month ago! We all get too busy from time to time. While I'm not sure why it matters so much to know the gender of the respondent, it'd be nice if there was an easier way to determine that. It mostly only matters when we respond to someone so we get the pronoun correct, but still.. just knowing seems significant. Owls, eh? That's very cool. I don't use screen savers, I just turn off the monitor when I'm not using it. I currently have a new wallpaper too. What can I say, I have a very specific type! hehe (Wes Bentley from the movie "P2") [goodnightmoon]
right now my wallpaper if of a lovely bollywood actress called Celina Jaitley. She is absolutely gorgeous. i keep changing my wallpaper every few days. [himoacs]
Sounds like you keep it interesting alright. I get bored with mine if it is there too long as well. Raia [Perspectives]
In my computer,I have a lot of screensaver that are a pictures of a forest of evergreens, some of them snow-covered that I download from "webshot.com". I always selected which one is the best picture then I download from there. [unisis]
Thanks for your addition..and the link...I will check it out...always good to have new places to get photos. Raia [Perspectives]
My screensaver goes directly to my pictures folder and shows all the pictures stored in there which is mostly of my son. My desktop background is a recent picture of my son :) [maddysmommy]
That sounds like a good idea...and I bet your son loves having his photo front and center on Mom's screen. Thanks for your input again...always appreciated. Raia [Perspectives]
i have a wallpaper of my dad that passed away in 2004...... [palina77]
Ahhh..what a lovely idea...I bet he is smiling at that from the next realm! Raia [Perspectives]
that's interesting, I have a screen saver but it's more for security reasons on my work computer. it's just a black screen with the words 'trust in the lord' rolling and turning around. i think it's a windows default but i just typed in the words as a good reminder to me that i should trust the Lord always! [squaretile]
Sounds like you have a great way of keeping your mind grounded and full of faith, hope and love. Great idea...thanks for sharing it! Raia [Perspectives]
yes i have, my screen saver were bubbles with pictures of me and my bf [rhane7315]
Hi and thanks for your input on this topic. Your screen saver sounds delightful. A wonderful reminder of your bond every time you see it. Fun! Raia [Perspectives]
Right now I have fire and ice design on mine...I just found it and really like it. I tend to change mine alot...everything from skulls to flowers, cats to Elvira...it just depends on my mood. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ [twoey68]
Hi Twoey.. I am not surprised that you change your screen savers because you do that a lot with your Avatars. As long as you are having fun...and it sounds as though you are! Cheers, Raia [Perspectives]
I love photography and have a catalogue of favourite pics, I have my favourite, which is of a boat in an estuary at dusk with the sun going down over it's sails, but I change it quite regularly, I've also got a couple of other computers that I use, and have different photo's on those. My screen saver is of my photos that i've taken! [Bizziebod]
Big ooops here, Sorry I missed your response. I haven't been Mylotting and even though I try to stay current things get missed. I checked out your site...and you have a great eye with terrific shots! Keep up the good work...and as I said before happy clicking! Raia [Perspectives]
Usually the wallpaper/screensaver are the celebs that i like at that moment. Like right now i like Jessica Alba. but ofcourse the wallpaper and screesaver can change if I find another new interest or just change them once in a while to avoid boredom.happy [hcpoirot]
Hi, missed your comment when you first posted it...but here I am now! Thanks for adding your preferences. Everyone has their own tastes and that is what keeps life interesting. Raia [Perspectives]
My wallpaper is a picture taking from the campus of Hongkong university of science and technology. I put it as my wallpaper because it my dream to study and live there. My screen saver is blank, because it does good to my monitor, priventing it from working all day long. [cheney]
Hi...three months later. I haven't been Mylotting much the past few months and must apologize for taking so long to respond. I new friend just pulled this topic up from the bottom and that is how I discovered your reply. I appreciate your input and the reasons you chose your wallpaper.Good luck with realizing your dream of studying at the Hongkong University. All the best. Raia [Perspectives]
I don't have anything yet because I just got a new laptop but interestingly enough I just posted on the same subject! I sent my previous laptop to be fixed and when it came back it had a brand new screensaver and desktop background! Some of these guys are so intrusive, he'd removed programmes and generally did what he felt like doing to it. Thing is that I loved the screensaver and background and kept them. The background was of space with the earth and in space a dragon riding the waves. The screensaver was a moving image of the sea with lightning and thunder. You could hear the noise of them and whenever I walked in the room it sounded like there was a storm in there! I haven't saved them though because my old laptop has died. Sob [aslanlight]
Greetings again, How interesting that I went over to your site and had been thinking of posting an undated question about gaming as well. Similar resonances...it does happen a lot on MMylot. I had never been on any discussion before this one and haven't gone anywhere else since. When I joined I wanted to find like minded others and that happened then and continues now. I am always curious why people ask me to be a friend...then when I checked out your site before accepting your request I liked your discussions and saw there were some similar interests. Sorry to hear about your 'buddy laptop' dying. Rather lying losing an old friend. The screensaver you describe sounds delightful..although I agree the way you got it does sound rather intrusive! Anyway, good luck with finding a new one...and more great screensavers. Cheers, [Perspectives]
Wallpaper- I currently have some artwork by Mike Shinoda because its inspired me to paint again and i love the colours and tone and message. Before that i switched between 2 photos taken in new york and niagra falls that i loved because they reminded me of being away and they are pretty. For my screensaver i just have the plain stars but as my monitor is on energy save if it isn't active after 3 mins it goes off anyways and the setting for the screensaver is 10 mins so i never see it. I've uploaded the photo of my wallpaper if you search for shh on the photos you can see it. [mands61123]
Hi and welcome to Mylot. Thanks for dropping by and adding what you have as artwork and screen savers on your computer. It has been an interesting topic and it is fun to hear what people's preferences are and why they choose what they do. Hope you are enjoying your Mylotting experiences. This a a great site and it is fun to be paid to do something so enjoyable! Best regards, Raia [Perspectives]

Hello and thanks for adding your special ideas for your wallpaper on your computer. Your reasons for having the photos you do are very touching. I don't have any siblings and both my parents have passed away. My hubs and I are fortunate to have a number of close friends that feel like family. However, as you have wisely offered...the love and appreciation for each other within your family of origin is a blessing. Thanks for a lovely addition to the discussion. Warm regards, Raia [Perspectives]
I have a lot of wallpaper and screensaveer in my computer and some of them are very beautiful. And approyimately change them daily [thegreatabhi]
