I know that you have all probably at least felt the temptation to bump some sort of device when you were feeling frustrated or the thing didn't work.
This is specially frequent with our computers, since they are really complicated machines which sometimes happen to fail.
I don't do it often, but yeah, I admit that sometimes i've hit my computer when i was mad because it wasn't working. Have you ever hit your computer or any other electric device because it wasn't working?

I don't with my new computer. But,I used to hit the screen all the time when it didn't do what I wanted it to do.It had an old big box screen and you really couldn't hurt it.I have a flat screen now so that wouldn't be a good idea. [oneidmnster]
Well lightnin, I am as bad when I want to be. Especially when I'm totally pi$$ed off, I feel like I want to hit or throw something!;) I would love to do that, but not on my computer since though this is old I can still rely on it too. If ever I get frustrated of something when infront of my pc, I simply count to ten and breathe slowly -inhale and exhale!;) [raijin]
good idea, violence leads nowhere hehe. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
no i do not hit my computer because it cost me to much to buy it. i'm very carefull with the thing because i don't want it to be damaged [Unl3ashed]
Oh, I've hit mine a few times. Mostly, though, I just yell at it. I do get very frustrated if it's not working properly or if the internet is slow (I hate waiting!!). It's funny how "things" can piss of off, isn't it! [lifeluver]
yeah!! it's also terrible when the net is slow! i'm impatient by nature as well hehe. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
No, not computer. It's too expensive. But my desk often get hurt heh [Bionicman]
well actually furniture can be as expensive as computers, if not more lol. thanks for responding. [LightninStrike]
Hi LightninStrike! No I don't hit anything when I am pissed with any electrical appliance or the computer when they don't work but the temptation to throw it out of the window is great. haha.. Good thing it is heavy. LOL! But I do snarl at it and try to scare it with my scary voice or just scream at it. haha..weird, huh? Take care and have a nice day! [faith210]
Hi LightninStrike! Gosh, if I do that..will you still be my friend? LOL! [faith210]
No I haven't..lol. I can't afford to buy another if it breaks.:P [barbaradjt]
oh, do i know how you feel. sometimes i bang on the keyboard and have thrown the mouse at the printer. two bad moves. i was lucky nothing got broken. these things cost money. i have to learn to control my frustration and temper! [clocks123]
I have never hit my computer, LightninStrike. I have wanted to, but I haven't. I learned my lesson from the time I threw my modem through the window, and the window wasn't open. Right through the glass! [Transdisc]
oh boy, mad bear! I bet that taught you a lesson. Shame on you [razcal2267]
Yes. Especially when optical mouse is not yet known to us and mouse balls are the normal ones to use. I always bump it whenever it will not move the way I want it to be. It's really nice that optical mouse was introduced to us that's why playing games is a lot more fun than before. ..^^..cherry [cherryblossm90]
thanks for the reply cherry, i totally understand your rage and the mouse paying for it lol..sometimes it's so hard to refrain! [LightninStrike]
LOL!ive done that often!!i try to behave now but in the past i did hit my old desktop...i try not to do it with the laptop ....it looks a bit more fragile so not to do further damage i am good with him but otherwise... :p sometimes i m tempted [valyushah]
Well, there have been times when things have been really ticking me off with my computer where I have felt like giving it a good whack, but I always keep myself in check, knowing how much more ticked off I would be if I had to pay out hundreds of dollars to replace broken parts. In the end I get away with a few loud curses, and walk away for 5 minutes or so! [muscare]
i think it's a good tactic to go away for a few minutes and then come back. It saves us a lot of money because that way we don't break anything lol. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
Once I kicked and hit the tower of my pc because I couldn't get a game to work that I wanted to play. It ended up breaking the thing and I went a few years without a pc. It just sat there gathering dust until I got a relative to fix it for me. So, for the answer, no I would not hit my computer again. I learned my lesson the hard way. [lancingboy]
hell yeah!!!saying some bad words as possible...LOL i always hit my keyboard as specific actually this keyboard im using right now is the 5th one...just imagine what kinda f*** im doing...i cant help but losing my patience im always and always trying to fix it but my f***ing stupid useless brothers are creating such viruses of it and memory damage!!!what will u do if im in ur place??? then lets figure out! [ceejay03]
hehe, thanks for replying ceejay. [LightninStrike]
yeah always when things aren't working as they used to be...just a piece of crap that wont work normal!!!best advice: just throw em' all,,,LOL [ceejay03]
I did one time when the servers are so slow and I cant really work something that needs a deadline. And im really pissed and slam everything because i totally lost my patience coz i couldnt make it on time. I did that because of others fault..the internet providers are to be blamed. [ayou82]
thank you for replying :) [LightninStrike]
nope, i don't hit objects when i am mad.. hehe although i tempt to do it sometimes but i won't it might just get worst and will not work forever!! waa.. it could cause a lot of problem, so i just leave it there and ask a professional for a help. [prinsesanes]
asking a professional for help sounds wiser than hitting the device which doesn't work. If only those professional services were cheaper.... hehe. [LightninStrike]
I did on my old computer but i have found out in stead of hitting it it helps to say: stroke, stroke (ae ae on danish) while you stroke it ;) [livinglas]
thank you for replying. [LightninStrike]
Oh, no. I haven't reached that point yet. And besides if and when I decide to hit my computer out of anger, I will still be the losing end. I care about my things and hitting it doesn't make anything better, at least for me. It will rather may only get things worse for it will eventually get broken, and that would really suck. [sophylline]
It's true that u'd only get things worse, but this computer hitting doesn't come from a rational reaction anyway, it's something that you do as a reaction to a situation of stress...anyway I pretty much agree with what you said. [LightninStrike]
Never my computer...ever LOL but i have given the microwave, tv, vcr etc a good whack when its not behaving properly...but no I've never gotten physical wiht my computer..with my luck if i were to, it'd probably retaliate and oh I dunno explode or turn to dust or something just to teach me a lesson LOL so ya I dont go there :-) [Ravenladyj]
Hahaha i No i dont but i do like hit the desk with my hand and be like arrrr you fiinnnggg peice of Shhhhh.. i just wanna throw it out the window:) but im wokring on my anger. i dont know what i would do without a computer.lol [xXxMikesWifeyxXx]
Oh yes, I do get irritated by my computer from time to time, increasingly often lately. Last time I used to slam the mouse or bang the keyboard. But I try to remain rational nowadays and remember that the fault probably lies inside the CPU and the poor mouse and keyboards are just hapless victims. And no, I refrain from lashing out at the CPU too. Not till I decide to get a new computer. :P [lordwarwizard]
hehe. Well the day you buy a new pc you can get a good crash therapy by destroying the current one with your own hands or using a hammer. In fact, there 's a company here in spain that does that and provides stuff like TV's and computers so that burn out executives can release their stress and feel better. [LightninStrike]
Hi,there! Well,I've never done that before cause even if I was angry at my computer at that time,I didn't lose control. I won't hit my computer cause it could not make things better but worse. It could only damage my computer and as a result,I'll need to fix it soon after that. So usually I just calm down and restart it and try to do sth to recover the files. But I would think about the brand and the quality and hardwares when I buy another one.I would choose a very good one which is not easy to crash so that it won't piss me off that often. [fanji008]
u know I have very bad temperament problem ... so not only computer when I get angry I use to hit each and every thing ... even when I cant hit a person who is pissing me off I use to bit the walls with my hands !!! donnow how to control all these !!! [rakeshdas]
can't say I've hit mine, but I sure have cussed it out a few times. I use a laptop now so I'll be using the count to ten and breathe method to help reduce the urge to throw it. ha ha [FLmom26]
No!! That would only cost me money, and if it quit working I would have to hit me for causing that.. [Jimonthebeach]
well i understand, but i wasn't talking about destroying the pc in a rage momentum, just the typical harmless bump you know? anyway thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
I have in the past hit my computer. I had a very old mac that ran very slow and it would make me crazy but I did not have the money to buy a new one. I have not hit the computer I have now yet but I did kick the one I had before this a time or two when frustrated that it was not doing what it was supposed to. What I do more then hit or kick the computer is yell at it. It is rather funny to see the look on my house mates face when they come running in to see who I could be saying such things to on the phone. Once they see that it is just me yelling at the computer they laugh. [razcal2267]
thanks for replying, razcal. [LightninStrike]
I don't hit the computer. Ussualy the desk or the wall. Although I have thrown the keyboard and mouse before. I think it worked...:) [doubleloveyou]
HI there... Quite an interesting discussion... Although I don't vent my frustration on the computer, coz if I do so, then it wud cost me even more than it wud have otherwise, I do on other electronics like my cellphn or my stereo when they don't work... [Lifeless]
see I have never hit my cell phone..i guess i see it as something that it's too delicate hehe. I hope i don't start now! [LightninStrike]
sometimes I feel an urge to hit the computer, when it doesnt work but I know its no use and it will not make this machine work better. So I have to admit I swear a bit to vent the frustration. [book1962]
swearing is also a way to release tension, and i think it's nothing bad as long as you control yourself and ofcourse you don't insult anyone. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
I have maybe gave it a push or two but not to much abuse! [caf48180]
well yeah, i wasn't thinking about breaking the device, just the typical bump. thanks for replying. [LightninStrike]
I wouldn't dare hit my Antec 900! But I used to do it all the time with the school's computer back then. [Phatmatt]
thank you for replying, phatmatt. [LightninStrike]
I used to be a sore loser and punch the CRT monitor when I lose at a PC game....and oh god, it hurts real bad... Well, that also helps to curb my anger :D [chunter]
hehehe, thanks for replying chunter. [LightninStrike]
i wont do it ...because we need some time measurement and wisdom....towards the situation... [juhiram]
haha! that's pretty odd, I don't. I better smile it out and say, wheeew! [jeanniemay]
Sometime before when I was in first year of college and I'm actually a computer science student then. When I don't get to run my machine problem, it's as if I want to throw my computer out of the window especially if it is so late like 4 in the morning I haven't got any good sleep since. But thank goodness it's good now because we get to do things we specialize and programming is not my thing at all. [MGjhaud]
Yeah sometimes i can really get pissed off fast. So,when the computer used to mess up i would get extra mad.And yeah i hit it.Bang the keyboard or mouse hit the screen..Yeah i know iam kinda crazy*** [DLOPEZ240]
This is interesting, I don't hit anything even if it pisses me off. But I know a friend who would hit on everything when things are not working for him, it sounds a bit violent but he says it works *laughs*. If something goes wrong, I usually spend time investigating what goes wrong because I am afraid if I hit it, it will be permanently damaged! [wondericequeen]
I have the habit of banging the poor mouse when I am really annoyed. Once, my mouse really got damaged and my father's great chagrin. LOL! Though I try to curve such behavior because I am afraid that my daughter would follow my example. Well, I aim to be saint but I think I will never really be one. He he he! [cdparazo]
I rarely do it. But there were a couple of times that I gave our old monitor a heavy whack on the side!rolleyesThat was when I have spent several minutes, typing a discussion, thinking over it thoroughly. And when I clicked the submit button, my freshly made discussion disappeared completely. Tried to refresh the page, but completely nothing. That was the time, out of so much frustration, I whacked the monitor! And there were other times, that I banged the mouse so hard I thought I damaged it. [jcj_111776]
When I get angry with something that doesn't work right,I used to just get pissed off. After years of living with a man who reacts in anger ,I have begun to throw things or break things that mess with me when I am using them. Like the other day,I took the cup from my vacuum to empty it and then it would not fit back into its slot. I tried and tried and it would not fit back in. I could not see any reason that it would not go back in the slot. Well, after repeatedly trying for about 5 minute and getting more and more angry and out of control,I finally threw the cup across the floor and broke it.I have to duck tape it and guess what? After i duck taoed it and tried to put it back in ,it went right in the slot like putting a glove on a glove! I also get angry with the mouse in my son's room.I clean it often because it has the ball, but it sticks all the time and I get mad and slam it on the desk a few times. [patricia4225]
I've never hit any of my computers when they weren't doing something I've wanted them to. But my ex husband used to smack them all the time. I'd hear him yelling, "You stupid piece of sh!t!". I used to tell him that maybe if he wouldn't be so mean to them, then maybe they'd start working for him. :P There are only 2 electric devices I have hit when they weren't working right, and that's a big tv that is now in my kids' playroom and the microwave in the kitchen. Hitting the microwave would get it working, but not so much with the tv. For that one, it actually had to be unplugged and then plugged back in a while. In both items, they seem to go on the fritz in humid weather. I don't know why that is. Oh well... I have a decent a/c unit for my living room window now... so it shouldn't be an issue this summer. :D [CanadaGal]
winkI don't hit my computer. I slap it the table. LOL. Sometimes, yes, I hate it when I am too busy and need to rush some stuff and something is not working well. I just will slap the table I'm working at. Sounds funny but it's pretty relieving and makes us feel a little comfortable after a while and work continues. [jeanniemay]
