Being a single parent at that time it was very expensive to call, and she missed my son so much, so instant messaging and web cam became a integral part of communication for us. I was told that I need a homepage for my business and an email address. So I got a webmaster who built a fancy homepage and a computer so I could communicate with my customers an collegues via internet. I also do some bookkeeping with it. My computer is for business purposes. Surfing or participating here at mylot is just for fun in my spare time. [Inky261]

I never bought my computor. I've always had access to a computor. My daughter first had one and she lived with me so I got to use hers. Then, I used the one at work. Then someone gave me theirs. Hello Coolgeth, Please don't laugh at me, okay! I am going to tell you my reason for buying a computer 5 years ago. I was window shopping at a shopping mall and went from one end to another end, from one level to another level until I reached a computer shop. I saw this desktop and was amazed with the features (in fact I don't know anything technically about computer!) like those big gigabytes, cd burner, bigger monitor and blah blah blah... (sound very stupid to me now!) that I bought the computer on the spot by swiping my plastic card! Well, as you can see now...there is no concrete reason for me to buy the desktop and mind you, I was cheated too. They didn't install the MS Office and MS XP for me! Oh, your topic made me think of it and get a bit angry now ! LOL. [gr8life]

My original intention in buying the computer was for business. I wanted to have a small net cafe since many Filipinos do not have puters at home, they go to internet cafe and pay by the hour. So I got two computer sets to start with.
