I don't have a technical know-how about computer or laptop. Therefore, if my computer is having some problems, I usually bring it to a technician for repair. I hope I can learn the basics of computer troubleshooting to fix my own computer. Anyhow, congratulations for being able to fix your computer with some problems. As I can sense, all is well with thy computer today. Good job.lol [learn2earn]
yeah. good to know that i have some learning about computer. uh, just visit sites about computers. and know more about computers. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
I have had to fix my computer several times - I can usually fix it with a system restore, but I once had to open the computer up to work on the mother board - what a pain! [kellys3ps]
yeah, system restore will do, and i often do system restore too. but in some situations, system restore cant delete the virus that you have encountered. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
I paid for the AVG antivirus/spyware package and it just blocked something for me while I was here on MyLot! Yaye! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure you know. If my computer ever does need to be repaired, I'll just take it to my friend's husband, who is a computer geek. Most of my problems, I just tell him about and he tells me how to fix them but if it ever got really bad, I'd take it to him. Happy MyLotting! [PrincessKitten]
well, sometimes, when i have problem, i have to ask the husband of my sister because he know more about computer than me. but now im computer science student, i'm really trying hard to know more about computer. i search something and try something so that i could learn it. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
I learned about fixing computers out of curiosity and interest. So far I have never needed the services of so-called computer technicians (yes, they have paper qualifications). In fact there were times when I had to undo the mistakes made by other technicians on several of my friends' computers. I am not an expert in everything but how many technicians knew how to reinstall windows 95, 98, and ME on themselves, meaning not losing any previous settings or data? Congratulations to you for your success. Just remember self-learning or self-teaching has its drawbacks. May you flow smoothly with the ions. [rosdimy]
yes. i've learn more about computer by searching around the net and asking some forums about it. im not expert too. i'm just starting to know how to fix computer problems. [alleroid16]
Hi, well done to you, it's a good feeling when you fix your own pc. I learnt about how to fix my own through breaking my first one and taking it into be repaired which cost me a lot of money, I now realise how much of that payment was for their knowledge and not for much work. I've learnt so much about pc's and the internet in the past 12 mnths I surprise myself..lol [scorpio19]
hehe. yeah. we love computers. [alleroid16]
well, i usually fix my own laptop and even fix my friends' computer or laptop. for me, it is important to know how to fix your own computer it can save your money and at least at the same time you can earn money. so, what do you think? wanna learn how to troubleshoot computer which is fun and wonderful? [redzredula]
thanks bro. :) happy mylotting! [alleroid16]

yah. thanks! :) happy my lotiing! :0 [alleroid16]
i sometimes have issues with my laptop but as of yet i didn't have to send it to someone to fix it for me lol... so im glad about that ;) well if my operating system were to get deleted as you said happened with you no i wouldnt know how to take care of that lolzz [nadooa247]
nice. maybe your now a good technician. happy mylotting! ^^ [alleroid16]
I can take it apart and put it back together again but I do not want to as this tends to take a lot of time. I used to swap parts in my old computers and this is good experience. Do not start on your brand new $1000 computer. There should be enough old computers around to practice on. [mariposaman]
my brother in law, sometimes swap the parts of our computer. that's why we now not spending much money in my computer. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
I have fixed some errors in our computers here at home a couple of times, usually just to delete a virus or completely reformatting the computer and re-installing the operating system. It would be best that reformatting would be done as the last resort on trying to solve the problem since doing it often would deteriorate the hard disk of the computer.. of course, doing it too much would cause that so, if reformatting isn't as always as usual, I guess its alright. I try not to go the technicians anymore if I could handle the problem by myself but, if its a bit too much of a challenge for what I know, I would just bring it to them and see how they would solve it. Watching them do it guarantees me that they are indeed working on it and helps me learn more about computers. [ratyz5]
You too (^_^ ) [ratyz5]
hi sis How are you well here i have mostly fixed my computer , in start when i ws new to pc so i take it out to computer shop oki. then i learnt to fix my computer by my self . now in family if any ne need s to fix the pc so tehy call me :P heheh well if some times the problem is much bigger na so i m unable to repair it then i go for big doctor my cousin :P hehe thanks for reply shazy dude [shazy52]
well, good for you that you know about computers. haha. this will help us to save money and time. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Well, good for me, I know something about computer in terms of software and hardware troubleshooting although I still need more information and experience about it. Before when I was really newbie on this piece of appliance I usually call for a tech to fix it. But now, no more I am quite a little confident. So, what i usually do, is update my AV (like you just said you AV deleted you os, i didn't heard anything about that before until now, i recommended changing AV, there are free ones out there better than the license one, AVG AVira Avast Nod32,etc). And then always check my restoration point (so that when something bad happened to my software, ill just choice the last restoration point where my pc is in best)... I also have anti spyware, Tune up... troubleshooting is many and effective if you just surf it/google it. see yah! [howardskip]
for me, trying it is the best training for me. but, i can't try it if i dont know how to do. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Hi frnds, have you ever fix your computer or laptop? I don't have a laptop.Iam having a computer.Iam always use a computer with solving my computer problems and solving a virus problem.I will format twice in a month if any problem occurs to my computer.I will upgrade to my computer.i will upgrade my operating computer in my system.if any technical problems are their i solve my computer. Iam always fix with my computer. [23uday]
uh, better for you that you know how to reformat pc. i dont know how to reformat. i will learn that SOON! happy mylottinG! [alleroid16]
fixing my laptop?? i never done that.. i'll get my brain stucked... maybe it's a way to save your money.. but..i don't want to mess my head with the components and the complicated things in PCs..lol... [haqita]
you better learn more about computers. by know how to fix your own pc will help you. you save money and save time and of course help others. happy mylotting! ^^ [alleroid16]
Yes ...I do all the repairing myself ...I don't have a technician at all...in fact I assemble my desktop by me itself.....everything is done by me...so need not to worry.... [himatmex]
good for you that you could assemble your own desktop. hopefully i could also make one for myself too. happy mylotting. [alleroid16]
ya i have fixed my computer.... and also fixed my cousins computer..everytime it gets effected with virus and it will be formated by me only...i never fixed the laptop... [sunilsunny]
i also want to know how to reformat a pc. hopefully i can do it soon. haha. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
I'm a techie geek, so yes: I fix all my own problems! Well, the computer ones, anyway. I've always built my own PCs, install everything myself and maintain my own systems. These days I just have one desktop, but I used to have three or four networked in my apartment. It's a good way to learn how things work. One piece of advice: if you have multiple machines, always have one that works and keep it powered off. That way, when all the others die, you can use it to connect to the internet and find solutions! [SpikeTheLobster]
nice. i want also to know many more about computers that i would came up into the situation that i can fix all my problems in computers. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
My wife will tell you that I am quite a handyman when it comes to the PC. I normally do my own installation of software, troubleshoot PC problems and sometimes go out and buy replacement parts and replace them myself. I never like bringing my PC to the shop for repairs unless it is a hardware failure, eg. the motherboard, and I need to replace a major part that I can't do myself. I am always wary of outsiders accessing my harddisk and data that I have inside, and some of these are sensitive to me. Who knows, if you leave your PC with the shop, they may just copy your data without telling you. I save quite a bit of money learning how to do my own self-diagnosis and repairs. [lexus54]
oh, cool. i also like to fixed and assemble my pc someday. well, i'm now just learning how to do it. maybe someday i could do it. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Hey there! I have fixed a few computers and a few laptops. I've fixed computers with broken operating systems, viruses, and a whole bunch of other problems. Sometimes, a few tweaks will do but sometimes, I have to do some more technical things like configuring start ups or repairing using windows recovery console or booting in linux to access windows files. I've done a little bit with hardware but nothing too complicated. Just keep tinkering with computers and eventually you'll become good at doing repairs and fixing stuff. [migsmartinez]
good for you that you have a lot of knowledge about fixing computers. well a bit of it is all i know about computers. :) happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Before I just rely on the technicians, But thanks to the internet! I read a lot on the computer forums, DIY information, and tutorials especially in Youtube, I got addicted watching How to's videos on youtube. So now, whenever I have a problem with my computer, I just go to youtube and watch how to fix my own computer :) [PinayPrincess]
yeah. well, at first i also rely to technicians, because i always dont know what should i do with my computers when i have problem on it! :) you tube also show what we should do if we have problem in fixing computers. i just found out last week. :) happy mylotting!:) [alleroid16]
i fix my own desktop. but when worse comes to worse, i have friends to turn for a little help. (= most of the time though, i just ask them what to do and i do it myself. experience is the best teacher. [chaiizky]
if you didn't try you couldn't learn. better try to learn. i also have friend who could help me in fixing computers. luckily i am to have them. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
i have fixed computers many times for myself and even others. i like fixing computers. i feel good when someone expresses his appreciation and happiness after solving the problem of his computer by myself. also, my knowledge about computer is increasing after a lot of practice of fixing computers. if your computer has a problem, you can contact me as you like. [juer238]
i also like fixing computers, but i'm not good in fixing computers. hopefully i can be good as one of you who know a lot about fixing computers. oh, okay, i'll contact you if i have a problem with my computer. :) happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
no i havent tried to fix my computer, when ever my pc get some technical problem i just call my brother right away to fix it. He know how to fix computer but if it still doenst work, we hired technician to do it. Happy posting.happy [Margarit]
well, i guess so, i need to know atleast the basic how to fixed computer for my brother is not always availableto help me when i have computer problem but i dont have patence to learn how to fixed it. sad [Margarit]
First, congratulations for having the guts to fix your own PC! it saves you money and gives you a learning experience. as long as it doesn't involve "power" or "electricity" most of PC's problem can be easily fixed except for laptops or notebooks, you need some special tools to fix them. BUT for me, I took up a computer technician before I went to college so I do fix all my Pc's and laptop's problem. [blogdemanila]
thanks. anyway, congrats also for you, how i wish i could be as good as you. well, i'm still learning about computers, lets see.! :) happy mylotting!:) [alleroid16]
Yeah, I have asked a computer technician to fix my PC once. One day I turned on my computer but only to see an error display on the screen, telling me that one kernal file of the operation system was lost and windows failed to start. It was about more than five years ago, and my computer knowledge was really limited back then. If the same problem showed up again today, I would just re-install the operation system by myself. However, I had totally no idea what to do at that time, so I turned to the tech-support of my PC and let the technician fix the problem for me. I am happy that you can give a try by yourself. It's the best way to learn more how your computer works and you will not freak out if you encounter the same problem next time. [takezero]
yeah. sometimes that we didn't know the problem of our pc when it's not turning on. then you would realize that this problem was so easy, it's just reinstalling os or something that you just need to reinstall. happy mylotting!:) [alleroid16]
lately my laptop shuts down mid function, like 15 times a day, wtf, its new too [JulianaRose]
better to have some research about that problem. or ask some of the mylotters who knows how to fix that problem! :) happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
a lot of times i even fixed my friends Xbox360 once and it worked perfectly i also have dont all the setting up part of my on my own [KrizaliD_211]
but have you ever try to fix your own computer when it hvae a problem? happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Well done to you!!I have fixed my PC for several times.Although only some little prolems I can solve by myselfs, such as reformat OS,change a memory card,I think that's enough for me. [Emineda]
same here. only a bit of fixing computers is all i know. well, i'm still learning. hopefully soon, i could fix any kind of problem in computers.! :0 happy mylotting!:) [alleroid16]
hey man formating the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system isn't a big deal. now days small children can do the work. it can be done by just reading the manual. if you fixed something like processor or ram i will appreciare you. but formating and reinstalling the os is just the basic thing. [mnr367]
well, i didn't know how to reformat computers, although i'm already college student! :) happy myloting! :) [alleroid16]
Yeah I have. I have had to reinstall my OS countless times. Its not really hard but it can be tiring if you have to do it several times a week or even a day. And I just recently changed one of my hard drives of my desktop pc. Changing it isn't hard. All you have to do is remove a few screws and cables, put in the new drive and put everything back together. But due to the case I have bought it took me around a hour to do that. The case really looks great but is at the same time stupid because changing anything means opening up the whole case which takes a long time. I have had to change a few parts of my computer but it usually is really easy and can be done in a few minutes. Right now I would like to get my hands on all computer parts so that I can put it all together myself. Because I usually have someone to help me with it. I will probably have to wait a year or less till I buy all those parts for my new computer. I can't wait to put all the stuff together. :) [Takashy]
uh, yeah youre right that reinstalling os a bit of easy. but i really dont know how to reformat. well, i'm still learning. hopefully, soon i could know it. and i don't ever know how to change parts in computers. i'm abit of afraid of it! :) happt mylotting! [alleroid16]
I actually have not had to fix my computer. Knocking on wood! If I do have issues with my PC though I just take it to my brother-in-law who is a computer guru and does freelance work for companies making 500 an hour! So I get his services for free thankfully! [Isabellas2007]
good for you. i also have my brother-in-law who knows more in computers. so when i have a problem with my computer that i dont know what should i do, i just call him and he will fix it immediately. happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Thats damn cool that you were able to do it yourself, if you know how definetly should, hell you learn more about computers and you dont have to pay someone else to do it. I built my computer. I went to college for computer support. Since building it about 6 years ago, I have rebuilt it, from the ground up since my motherboard went out. That was the only time I ever took it to anyone, didnt know if it was the motherboard or power supply, and didnt want to just start buying stuff hoping it it was that and be something else. Fortunetly the guy didnt charge me since he just told me the motherboard went out. So since mine was old, had to buy everything. Recently I bought a new video card, next thing im going to buy is more ram. I only have 1.5 gigs. I would love to buy a terrabyte hard drive since they are around 100 dollars or so now, last time I checked they were about 800 or so. Goddess I would love to have that much room. [darkjedi]
good for you. i never buy something for my computer. my brother-in-law buy something to upgarde my pc and i just pay it to him. haha! :) i'm a computer science student. hopefully, i could learn many from it. happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
Ya, I fix my computer every time. If I got any problem with my operating I think it is better to format the system rather than the going to technician. If I got any new operating system I only installed to my computer. I learn all the things from my friends. After then I usually set up my computer if have any problem. It is very interesting to me. Happy to share your views. Happy myLotting.happy [adihindu]
yeah. sometimes its better o reformat pc than to reinstall something. but you should have a backup. but i dont know how to reformat a pc! :):) happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
great alleroid, i am giving u some suggestion about computer viruses. see there are two main types of viruses worms and trojen...worms harms your pc while trojen steals your information. as per your problem. i am giving u suggestion that dont do formatting everytime.its harmfull for your hard disk. if your pc gets slow check the RAM usage in task bar if it is above 75% then u need to improve your ram. if below 75% then see which program is taking lot of memory. i am sure it is dumpe.dll this means your computer is full of software then remove some high space softwares. and keep yor antivirus regularly updated.... [arungajankush]
uh, is that so? thanks for the advice. i thought it was okay to reformat and reformat pc when i have problem in fixing it.! :):) happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
I usually have someone else fix it. [spiderlizard22]
better you know how to fix computers, so that you could save time and money! :) happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
Yeah, I fix my computer all the time. Anything can really make your PC run slow. Most Vista machines run slow all the time for no apparent reason. Usually it's either that you have too many processes running at one time, especially at startup, or you have a lot of malware running on your system, or you have a virus/trojan horse/worm that is causing your PC to run slow. Reformatting your PC is usually a last effort when all of your other options have been exhausted. [afdinki]
good for you. and youre right that vista is kinda slow that's why im using xp. in my research, if youre using vista you should have a high RAM. happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
No I don't. My hubby and sister in law both have done this for a living. So if there is a problem, I call on them. Usually my hubby can get the job done in a few minutes. I have my own tech support. [ersmommy1]
uh, good for you, you have them. better know also about computers to save time! :) happy mylotting!! [alleroid16]
Yes my computer was infected by virus for several times.Sometimes I had to format the hard disk of my computer. Now I am using a updated anti-virus.Andit is running quit decently..........So nothing to wary........... [smukherjee_on_line]
uh, thanks for the help. don't want to try for now. maybe, my pc would be broken if i do it [alleroid16]
I have worked with computers for about 10 years now.. Started out with just basic knowledge and built my way up. Mostly everything I have learned software wise has been from messing around with the programs. Hardware wise I was semi taught and sooner or later just caught on. I've upgrade my last computer that was giving to me by an uncle which ended up being a nightmare (but it worked) Now that I know more it would be easier to upgrade next time around. [briggah]
good for you that you have a long experience in fixing computers.! :) me? i dont have any, instead im still learning. :):) happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
I have done all the things you have said. I disassemble and assemble it back to it's place. I have upgraded my computer last year and now it seems that I need to upgrade it some time to catch up with the latest or newer technology on computers. I had to reformat my computer several times before because my operating system is not running due to Trojan viruses and only way to do it is to reformat it to make sure it's clean. Good thing I always back up my files so no worry even if I have to reformat my computer. So far there is no major repair in my computer and hope though I think I can repair it if it had one. [katkat]
good for you that you know how to fix your own pc. and you can assemble your own pc.! :) and you know how to reformat your own pc!@ :) happy mylotting! :):) [alleroid16]
I dont know if I have fixed it or broken it. I just tried to open the cabinet and reconnected every cable after I dusted them off. I dont know how it worked. still I managed to get over the problem. and lo behold my PC was working. Actually it might have been an issue with my power cable connection. So I was having restarts whenever I switched on the power botton. But touchwood my PC is OK now. [oriyadoctor]
oh, good for you that you fix it. at least you know a bit in computers. :) happy mylotting! [alleroid16]
Wow this is one heck of a topic here. biggest response in your account i might add. Oh No, I am no good at fixing computers. maybe i should take a course in IT or Computer Technician. I hate it though, my elder brother no longer resides here. i should consider it. happy myloting as well. [Greeneagle24]
uh, yeah. better take IT and Computer Science. you will really enjoy it, but it's really hard. well, in start, when you don't have background on it. [alleroid16]
You know what alleroid16, somethings are learnt the hard way and I learnt fixing my pc in a very hard way. Being a very mischievous kid, I always like tweaking my pc. All my system and hidden files are always visible and I'm always suspicious that a virus might have infected them. So if i find any file that I hadn't seen there before, I delete it. thus once i deleted a system file and had to make a bootable disk. That was my first adventure which was followed by many... Techies are foolish people where I live. The last time i called a techie home when my pc was infected, he told me that a virus cannot enter my pc through a usb port, and he wasn't ready to listen at all and he formatted my C drive. And that was the last straw. From then, I've never called a techie again. They are stupid creatures who's job is to end their visit as soon as they can. And the only thing that they can do is reinstall the OS. Well These are techies where I live, well they aren't technicians at all. They are just kids who are taught how to reinstall the OS. Happy mylotting and avoid techies...... [pratyushtamhankar]
i know that i couldn't learn how to fix computer in easy way. anyway, i study hard for it. thanks for the advice.. happy mylotting! :) [alleroid16]
Hi alleroid...First of all, congratulations because you manage to fix your computer by yourself. I also have fix my laptop sometimes, I know how format computer. Sometime if my friends have a problem with their laptop, I will help them to fix it. But my knowledges is not very wide, that one day my laptop cannot be opened. I already tried to format it but it cannot complete as some files are missing. I have found in the internet how to solve it which is by copy the missing file from other laptop and save it in my laptop. But after some hard time I still couldn't find that files. Finally I send my laptop to computer shop to be fix. That is very funny you know as I always fix others laptop but I myself can't fix my laptop. =p [kunizzul]
thanks for congratulating me bro! :) me too, i use as a reference internet to search how to fix computers. well, i dont have a very wide knowledge about fixing computers. only a bit of it is all i know! :)) happy mylottinG! :) [alleroid16]
many times, i've fixed my office computer various time, the main problem i think that was very difficult to solve is when i was visiting websites an antivirus (full of virus;P) "xp antivirus 2008" installed without showing any installation window or asked to install or not, then i tried to uninstall many times but it can't, even my desktop wallpaper changed with the wallpaper saying message as "your computer is infected" and even it create problem in my screensaver too, then i installed malware removal program and it deletes its major files, and then i end process used by this program using task manager and then uninstalled it using winxpmanager smart uninstaller, then it removed completely till then now i have eset smart security which also protects my system from web surfing besides computer scan. now my working perfectly [alipk52]
nice for you that you could fix your computer. i hope i could find easy way to learn more about computers. so that i would find out easy to fix my computer when ther are problem in it. happymylotting! [alleroid16]
