As all know, computer has actted the most important role in modern life. More and more people use it every day. So, how long did you use computer each day?
I am a website engineer, I must worked in front of the computer, so from monday to friday, 8 hours for work time plus the time playing games, playing mylot etc... , I think about 10--12 hours in work days.
In the weekend, maybe a little short, but I will bethink the computer first when I feel bored. So, about 5--8 is reasonable for weekend. That is too long, I always feel a ache on my eyes, neck and waist.

I am not very long. When I working on office, I always have something to deal with without computer such as communicating with colleagues, having a meeting, going outside to recruit and so on since I am a human resource. Maybe about 4--5 hours using computer. [sunny_liu]

well pc's in genaral. i get up and go to work, fix pc's and servers all day. i come home and switch on my computers and play with my servers then i go to bed laptop on one side my girl on the other, well someones got to love us geeks! then if i cant sleep i'll do stuff on my laptop till i'm sleepy. and it all starts again the next day. for me the real question is how much time do i have left to do anything else! My work is computer-depend too, I am insurance agent. My day-computer-time is about 8 hours in work and about 4 hours free time. Is 12 hours together (half a day) in working days and about 2 or 3 hours on weekend. I mostly work on computer, but when I am not working I play a Online games or I am shopping or I am myLotting. I recently bought my laptop,6 months ago... It's useful and very exciting to navigate on the internet but is not a good think. The people that are using so much the PC have a lot of problems: with eyes,the sleep,with the mind and others. Is more good to read a book or to watch to a documentary. Hello Freerr, just like you, i do spend most of my time on the internet. Although i am not a software engineer like you, i do have time to play on the internet, chat with my family and friends, do watch movies and do mylotting a lot. The usual thing i do here is to answer every possible query in each forum where i can relate to and then start my own discussion too if i have any ideas to add up. About staying so long, since i do spend 6 to 8 long hours on our computer, i get my wrist aching and my back and butt. Yes, you are right, it includes the eyes too and the neck. I write articles on the net for a living. So, I spend about six hours a day Monday through Friday on the computer and probably an hour a day Saturday and Sunday. All in all, some feel it is a lot and others feel that I don't spend enough time on here! [aidenofthetower]

Now, I'm not sure how many of those hours feature me sitting in front of the monitor, actually using the computer to do something productive(or non productive even). I just know the thing is powered up for most of the day, whether I'm in the same room or not. I try not to think about what I would do without a computer in my life. For some reason, karma has a way of tapping into my subconscious and testing me. The last time I pondered life without internet access, my 5 year old HP computer died a horrible, and somewhat sudden death. About 12 hours a day during the weekday, and 5 to 8 hours during the weekend. No choice, just to face the computer every day. Even if do other paper work that doesn't require using the computer, still have to keep the computer screen on, to keep track of incoming email. Most of the hours spend in front of the computer during free time are for checking private emails, writing and reading articles online. Plus a few PTC programs. My first answer should be too long! And I don't work in front of a computer. I retired from teaching going on 3 years, and it seems I spend more and more time in front of this thing, but I like being here. I read email and have many forwards and then the times that I get to mylot, which comes and goes depending on the topics I find to discuss. That varies from day to day, although I am backed up and find that I have deleted some days when I get so far behind!! I also have a few friends who catch me on instant message........yesterday I couldn't seem to get to the email since I talked to several different people and couldn't get to the email. I seem to spend any time that I am home in front of the computer doing any of the things mentioned OR I like to play games, too. I am working in a call center so most of the time I am in front of a computer and using a computer 8hours a day including my breaktime ('coz I only have 30mins breaktime for the entire shift, hehehe). If I'm going to calculate all the hours i spend using the computer, on a weekday probably 10-16 hrs. But for a weekend i try to rest so i won't have eye strains. [speakyourmind]
When I am on Holiday ,I always use my computer more than 14 hours . I often turn on my computer when i get up ,and play it until I go to sleep in the evening . I use my computer to watch the film ,listen to the music , tlak with my friends ,or some other things .I can spend my time easily by the computer .But when I go to school ,I will use the computer very unfrequently . Man I log about 10 to 12 hours a day online sometimes more.Course that's what I do for a living so it takes dedication until you get set up enough to sit back a little. Just don't relax too much. I spend way too much time on here but I do balance it out with taking care of our home, cooking, going to visit family, working on my quilts and sleeping. When I am online I do try to do things that are productive...I participate on MyLot, take care of our banking, clear out emails, design Cross Stitch patterns and make Quilting patterns for my quilts. on the working day,i should be stay in the front of the computer more than 8 hours per day,i'm a clerk for make doc.and contact with my customer by e-mail,no choice to use the computer,after return home, i seldom use the computer except having important thing to do or looking for some information for my niece to help her to doing hourswork.that's a short time. on weekend day, i use computer for nearly two hours for playing games or watching news.good luck!
