It seems like people are so attached with their computers or cellphones or both. Some won't even trade it for a large amount of cash.
Now, what if there's a new law passed that you can only choose between owning a computer and a cellphone, what will you choose?
[question posted by modstar]
responses and comments:
I would definitely choose computers. If we look into the matter of differences in between computer and mobile phone, the mobiles are still not competitive. Mobiles still can't do what computers can do. Though you can have photographs, emails on the mobiles, but what about your creativity, programming, office work, database etc jobs? How will these have their shapes if we don't have computer. Can we design a web site using our cell phones. Can we program a software using our cellphone? Can we use our mobile for our patients database in the hospital? I can still live without mobile phone, but not computers. So definitely up for computer. [mukeshnuna]
Ah huh! That's true. I love my phone but i don't think i can live without computers. Afterall, what i can save on my phone, i can save it even more on my computer. [modstar]
I would definitely choose a computer over a cell phone ANY DAY. In fact..that's what I do! I don't have a cell phone right now -- so it's not a big deal at all to me. Sure, I'm a little hard to get a hold of, but I actually kind of like being unreachable sometimes. The computer, though, just has so many more uses! And for the most part, they're a more reliable/quick way to get things done. [maezee]
That's true. I remember, for the last two months, i've been using my phone to myLot and my daily earnings dropped 40 to 50 cents. That's a lot! [modstar]
Too much imagination on your question. But let say in if only mode. I prefer to choose smartphone than a computer. The main reason is i can speak with someone directly with smartphone. Maybe we can use computer for communicate with other people but it should be in different way than using smartphone or cellphone. For working purposes, so far i can handle my job with my smartphone. Since i'm a mobile person, i feel smartphone is part of my soul. I don't know how can i live without my smartphone. I can do mylotting, checking my email, chatting, browsing and even playing games with my smartphone. I think all the common activities which can only be done by computer previously now can also be done with smartphone. However, technology doesn't stop at this point and smartphone is getting smarter than before. Maybe sometimes there's no more differential between computer and smartphone. [dianmelydia]
That is also my take about smartphones. That's the reason i came up with this discussion because i myself is having difficulty answering this topic. lol! I'm a mobile person too and for the last two months, i used my phone to surf the net. The problem is, cellphones are pretty much limited in terms of power, ease of use and many more. The reason why i'll choose my phone is because i love it. lol! I'm not sure about the differential between computers and smartphones because as technology progresses, computers too are becoming sophisticated. Laptops are getting smaller, now if you can attach a phone to that laptop, then maybe it's goodbye for cellphones. [modstar]
That's an easy one. I would opt for the computer and be happy that I can enjoy my time online without having to worry about the phone ringing. Many people do their web browsing via their cell phones now, but to be there are too many -gotcha- charges. Besides, when I look at pictures that my friends send me, I'd rather see them on a larger screen. [catdla1]
Aaaahhh...but a picture is worth a thousand words, right? If I brought my desktop on an overseas bus trip, do you think it would work as a floatation device? And no, I don't have enough hot air to serve the purpose. rasp [catdla1]

You can say that again. lol! Just kidding! [modstar]
I think i choose computer for computer is more useful and more complete than mobile phone. Computer with internet connection can give you a wide range of information that the mobile cant for its main purpose is communication, the access to information is limited unlike computer is everything that you need is there, just a touch of the button.happy [Margarit]
As long as information is concerned, i think smartphones can provide you enough information through internet too either through wifi, 3G or GPRS. But still limited on other factors i agree. [modstar]
without a second thought I would take the computer. If I cam thinking correctly. I can use my computer to make phone calls. I will not miss my cell phone either, all it is is another bill to pay. Computers can do so much for me it's just awesome. [giftsandbagscom]
Yeah, the downside is the mobility factor of computers but i guess they are working on it already because there are lots of mini laptops around. [modstar]
ROFLMAO! Hands down I would have to choose my computer because I can make phone calls with it! It's called VOIP. :p [libby2009]
We have way too many choices for making calls with our computer. We can live without a phone. :p [libby2009]
Hello, i would choose my laptop because i can get the best of both worlds i can make my calls on skype so who realy needs a mobile phone as long as you don,t mind going around with a laptop to your ear haha. good question take care. [fergus]
Agree. Laptop is the closest thing to a cellphone and a computer. Well i don't mind going around with a laptop to my ear because as of now, i still don't own one. lol! You take care too! [modstar]
Frankly speaking, those two things play an important role in our daily life, and nobody can live daily life without them. We work need computer. We communicate need phone. They are both important when we need it. But if you ask me choose only one, I would like to choose computer. As we know, we use computer connect to the internet and the internet gives everbody an unprecedented chance to search all the reasource we need. Certainly it can also provide us with a way to communicate with other people in different places around the world. To me, I like computer better. [melodyguo]
That's true. I guess in more ways than one, we can still communicate with the use of computers. While on mobile phone, it would be a lot more inconvenient to use it without the help of computers. [modstar]
I SIMPLY LOVEEEEE MY COMPUTER !!!!! i love my computer more than my GF ! i really cant imagine what wud i do without my pc.... i remember those awful days when there were some technical problems in my pc...i just couldn't do anything on those days ! i am not so much into mobiles....just use it to makes n receive calls.. -chirag enjoy mylotttttting! [chipatil]
Haha! Hi Maple! It's been so long huh? [modstar]
I can't say I love my things, but I do wanted to keep them as long as I can [unless something more upgraded and updated is given to me lol]. My cellphone costs just about 1,999 pesos, really cheap huh? So I'll definitely wouldn't give up my computer for that phone, hahaha! Besides, I work at home using my PC, so it is more important to me more than ever, especially with the fact that I don't have much textmates or callmates aside from my Mama, and I live with her happy And yes, of course, I do my mylotting on this PC! [maple_kisses]
Cool set of bread and butter huh? lol! If it's just for surfing, i can live without my computer but unfortunately, i do a lot of stuffs on my computer than on my phone so i guess i have to ditch my phone in favor of my computer. I'm just glad there's no such law because i so love my phone too! lol! [modstar]
absolutely i will chose a computer rather than cellphone. A cellphone just only communication device. But a computer is everything, you can make money with computer, working with your homework, chatting with your friends and colleagues and much more. [cahyorini]
em..my laptop is HP. i brought one year ago, it cost me 7500RMB, but it works not so good. but i love my cellphone, it's NOKIA. if this law..were real. it think i have to choose laptop, i cant live with internet... [babyorchid]
Hi There...Well, since I think I may have turned my cell phone on about 3 times since I got it, I could definitely do without the phone. I don't like to talk on the phone anyway...If I didn't absolutely NEED to have this one, I wouldn't have it anyway. The only reason that I have it is because I don't know my way around this new town that I moved to & it is my lifeline, in case I get lost! [mibngold]
I would choose my computer. I can live without my cell phone but I need my computer for a number of reasons. One is that I sell on ebay and that is how I get paid. Without a computer I would be out of business like I am when my computer crashes and I have to buy a new one. Good discussion. [sweetbabyjane]
Hmm.. maybe you can teach me the ropes about eBay some time. hehe.. rolleyes [modstar]
I will go along with the majority and say that although I could part with my mobile phone, my laptop I could not do without! Like others have mentioned, you can do everything with a computer that you can do on the phone and let's face it; it is more enjoyable to MyLot on a PC! The only down point is that it is a 'tad' larger (LOL) lol and won't fit into a ladies bag with ease! happy [paula27661]
Wow, I'll have to think about that, it looks like a pretty cool phone! lol [paula27661]
Hey modstar! I would pick my computer! I only use my cell phone for emergencies! I don't use it for anything else so I really wouldn't miss it that much! I do all my work on my computer and I have a landline phone so I wouldn't have a problem giving up my cell phone! I don't text so it wouldn't be that big a deal for me. [Opal26]
Based on what you said, computer is really the better choice. [modstar]
I'm really not in-love with my computer. But I am however very fond of my mobile phone. This phone has been with me for more than 4 years now and it's still in average condition. I guess the reason why I can't let go of it is because it contains lots of memories. [wowdca]
Ah huh, i can relate with that. My phone is already three years old and it's got lots of memories too! There are messages here from my former girlfriend that i've been keeping for years now and also photos and recorded conversations. [modstar]
Well now days you could choose a smartphone over a computer. every day some thing new comes out and it's hard to keep up with. Now in a cellphone you can edit documents or access the web or find where you are with the GPS and you have the mobility that you can't find in all pc's but depends on your needs . In the other hand he have the famous and new netbooks which are very powerful and you can use as a wifi phone and now days you have Internet everywhere so you could stay with computer as a phone and run all the programs and games you want and need. But in the end it comes down to what you need [Plm131986]
I couldn't agree more! Cellphones now are getting smarter and smarter! Operating System for phones are getting more and more sophisticated and just short of being as powerful as a laptop. [modstar]
yes even i am included in the freaks who love their computer and mobiles more than their lives... you see this boss.... computer is a mans best friend that the trend of a new world... you tell me what is possible in this world without using a mobile or a computer.. all offices, emails , global communication, satellite comm, everything literally in this world works on computers.. games ...etc too.... so can u imagine a world without computers?? i cant...!! dont these lovely machines deserve some love n respite for what they do for us 24/7 ?????? i would definitely choose cash... so that i can upgrade my pc hahaha !! or buy a new one !! [vipuljainind]
No, i can't imagine the world without computers unless it's the world during the cro magnon era. lol! Give me some of that cash! [modstar]
cellphone of course. this is my life and my business [carrine]
Computer is my second wife, vehicle is my 3rf wife and cellphone is my girlfriend. so i'll chose computer, no MY second wife life so blue. [zulfah]
Haha! You're such a cheater! [modstar]
Definatly my computer, or to be more precise, my laptop. I couldn't finish my higher education without one, so the choice becomes obvious. I can still stay in contact with co-students through e-mail, paltalk and messenger if I keep my laptop and I would also be able to access blackboard and other important online facilities that my college has to offer. This could be possible with some mobiles perhaps but the screen would be terribly tiny and because I don't have such a state-of-the-art mobilephone myself, again; the choice would be easy. I don't get really attached to my phone or pc, I do get attached to the pictures of friends, family and relatives that I keep on my pc. The thing itsself is highly replacable to be quite frank. To me it's a fun piece of equipment, though still a piece of equipment. [cyberfluf]
The choice is easy indeed! lol [modstar]
i choose computer as there are mutiple uses like gaming, chatting, etc., where as mobile has less scope and dangerous if we use long time.My ultimate chioce is COMPUTER. [swarooplocal]
I like my computer more than my mobile. If someone wants to trade my PC with a large amount of cash, then I will trade it. With that cash I will buy a new PClol Regarding the law, if I had to choose between my PC and mobile, then I would always choose PC. I can go on without a mobile but not without my PC. Since I need my PC, not just for fun but also for work. [VANILLAREY]
im attached to my cellphone because i want to always keep in touch with my family and friends - im really compulsive, sometimes i think my brain works too fast so i forget what i was thinking a few seconds before, so i need my cellphone so i could either store the thought or just directly send a message or call the person concerned...it's always a good thing to be updated with the people you care about...not to mention other benefits from job contacts, business and others... so i think a mobile phone is really a necessity these days.. i need my laptop because basically the same, i keep in touch with family and friends, store info, research and most recently, try to earn money through the internet... but if i need to choose, i think the laptop will have to stay..with new technology and the internet, you can do everything in your computer that you can do with cellphone..a cellphone is basically a small computer... i can text or call family and friends with my laptop, of course you need an internet connection..i can earn money, do research, correspond...lots of things to do actually.. so im gonna choose my laptop..though i hope there wouldnt be a time where we need to chose from both... thanks! [migaypelaez]
So if the cellphone is a small computer, then a computer is am oversized cellphone? lol! Just playing! Your first paragraph reminds me of me. It's a 12k Php worth of notepad. lol! [modstar]
Hello modstar, For me, both are not too important to me. I still can live without a computer or a cell phone. Maybe, my life will be a bit uncomfortable and unreachable sometimes without these gadgets but it' s still alright for me. If I have to choose between the two, I will definitely choose a cell phone. I think it helps me more than having a computer all the times. If someone asked me to trade in my computer or cell phone with some cash, I will definitely happy to depart with the stuff and get some cash! [gr8life]
I wish i'm like you. I'm a slave of computers and cellphones. Quite addicted to it really so i really admire you for being able to live your life without the hassles of technology. [modstar]
Actually I hate my cell phone It's way too complicated and the very basic things I need to do on it I don't know how to do (nor does anyone else). It's a long story how I even got this phone but let's just say I was talked into a deal that is not in my best interest. Now as far as the computer, the main reason I must say I would have a hard time living without it is because I love the vast amount of information I can get in a matter of seconds plus I like the money making capabilities that it offers. [lumenmom]
That's true. Information on the internet is virtually unlimited. [modstar]
I will choose Computer for sure. Main reason to choose computer so that I can send messages and call from even computer. We can chat instantly also if both people have access to internet. Even otherwise we can always send and receive sms throw computer also. Most Importantly I am Computer Science Graduate and I have make my career in the field of Computers so I must always have it to practice. [rakesh284]
My internet connections sucks. Whenever i make voice calls, they're all choppy and would drop sometimes. It's a little inconvenient. [modstar]
hi ya people are attached to lap and mobile too much people are not attached only this there are many things human beings are attached towards women, family, children and so many more things....but in spiritual world they preach u need to be detached.. now what to do with poor man stuck in between both attachment and detachment. bye luv shek india [SHEKHAR3009]
Aw that is a very hard question! but maybe I will give up my cellphone because I can still stay in touch whoever they are with the use of computer or laptop through internet. and choosing computers has an advantage in making money. [rrdelacruz84]
I like both of these items but I can live without them for a day or so. I am more attached to my computer because I use it for work. I think Americans are way too attached to their phones and computers. Please reply to one of my discussions. Thank you. [liberalontheleft]
I would chose my phone. My phone has interwebs! [Casey23]
I will choose my cellphone,my relatives abroad are not so fond yet of using the pc.They always communicate by text or calling me.But I will be very sad too because I can't go to mylot anymore if I will choose my mobile. This is sooooo haaaarrrd for me.I hope this kind of law will never come to their mind. [angel_rain]
My problem is I don't know how to do it on my phone and I don't have any connection at my home. [angel_rain]
I would have to say that I would choose my computer. I use it far more than I do my cell phone. But, on the other hand, they do make cell phones now that we can access the internet from...... [lynnemg]
No, I am not that kind of a guy. I can trade my pc for a large amount of cash. It has: 1. Pentium 4 processor(2.39Ghz) 2. 512+128 MB RAM 3. DVD reader 4. 17" monitor 5. A lasor mouse with simple keyboard 6. 845 Mother board & 7. A TV tuner card. Whatever money above Rs 5000 will be accepted pal! [sanuanu]
i would choose my laptop... with my laptop i can do whatever i do on my cellphone. i can call, send message, surf the net, see my friends, shop online, watch movie, listen to music, even take photo... although what i have now is not that handy, it is more better than my cellphone... [chesaid]
Whoah... it's a bit hard to choose...mmmmmm... but I guess I would choose computer, coz my hubby's work is all about computers and from there we could also chat... :) [Nhey16]
Your phone must really be something high end right? N95 up? [modstar]
I'd choose the computer. I don't usually use my cellphone, and I have Skype and MSN in lieu for the calling. I like my computer because I can play games, study, socialize, and just about anything. I can even order food and groceries. Everything is so convenient now... Maybe we'll get too fat due to the lack of movement/... [tman555]
Haha! I can relate to that. I'm making ways to stop the fat from accumulating though. lol! [modstar]
For this question, my answer is I choose computer, because I need it very much. I need my computer to settle my bills, it save my times a lot. I need it for watching movies online, because I am busy and lazy go out when I am off. I need my computer for my work too that my mobilephone can not help at all. I also need it for connecting people like my friends, relatives and family. [my125125]
For lazy people like you and me, computer is very, very important. lol! [modstar]
whoah!!! cant help losing one of them... my cellphone and my computer is my pride and joy... because i bought it with my own money... and i love them both so dearly... no no to either one of them. [jheLaichie]
Ah so we finally got one here who can't decide. I fully understand you. I myself is having difficulty on choosing which is which. [modstar]
It seems like people are so attached with their computers or cellphones or both. Some won't even trade it for a large amount of cash! I would definitely trade my phone for a large amount of cash!w00t i think i'd rather have my cellphone than a computer. I am surviving now without my PC and I would survive without the office PC too. It would be sad though but it would be so difficult if I didn't have my cellphone as it is the major means of communication that we have now. [Theresaaiza]
Be sure to load mentally, okay?w00t [Theresaaiza]
i will definitely choose a computer over a cellphone.. computer can almost do all the functions that a cellphone do. i can even use my computer to call my friends and family.. so i will choose a computer.. and a computer is much more faster than a cellphone.. we can play gaves, play videos, listen to music in a cellphone, but the quality of doing this things is much more better if we use a computer.... [cuttyrish]
