My computer was super slow, I decided to format disk, and reinstall Windows XP... I put the CD into driver, some menu came up into my monitor, one of them was restore plus something, I called my nephew, asking him which one to choose, he said just select the first one, so I clicked that, after less than half hour, everything's done, really fast, haha...After that I saw my computer was restored almost all applications I had in past, all in Disk D only, haha... And Disk C is brand new, I need to install anti virus, firewall etc. all over again, haha... So now I am deleting and installing, funny, haha... So how often do you format your computer? Did you ever experience the things that happened to me today?

I just reformat my computer if it's really necessary. It will be a lot of work to reinstall the programs that I have added to my computer. Last time I reformatted our computer was when it was infected with virus and it affected most of the programs. [brew2x]
Ya, virus is always the problem, I think my computer got slow because of virus 90% possibility, haha... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
i do not usually format my laptop but i restores it to an earlier date which i have created as restore point.i am using windows vista.i think i do not have problem using these process.but when i got attacked by any viruses i will restore my computer and my computer will work as usual.so do these thing and you do not have to format your computer and there is no problem to do these pracess again.it is easier to restore then formating it. [SRIKANTH441]
Do what things? Restore? Maybe the time when computer gets restored back, is also when there's already virus? Thanks for your response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Well my friend I format my PC often, and because sometimes it is really badly affected by viruses, and one day I had formatted my PC for 4 times, and really it was a pain.Well I am good at maintaining my PC,and dong this kind of thing is every day job for me.And sometimes I do this kind of job professionally also. [arko006]
Wow, 4 times in one day? Is that ok for the computer? I never did this kind of things yet... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
This year 2008 only once when it totally disabled due to virus attacked. I learned something from that lesson, next I downloaded and ran new virus cleaner and it back to normal. After quite sometimes of used, once I found it run slower I use 'System Restore' and it run much faster. That's all from me. [michaeldadona]
Yeah...Hello, linda; Thanks for your good question. YOUR QUESTION : "So when I do the restore, the virus would remain or also gone as the computer went back to the past?". MY ANSWER : Once restored, means there is nothing wrong with your computer and its operating system(Window). After its restart, try to use your word file or any application. If it works very find and satisfies you means there is no longer infection. But, if it run sluggishly, without internet connection - of course still infected and you have to clear/clean the virus out of your computer. I hope you have had your Virus Cleaner stored in your computer. Just run it for virus cleaning purpose. If you don't have, FREE VIRUS CLEANER that am using now is AVAST at www.avast.com and www AND Multi Virus Cleaner 2008 8.6.1 (1.62MB) at http://www.download.com/Multi-Virus-Cleaner-2008/3000-2239_4-10398550.html After cleaning those viruses, for sure you want it back to normal, isn't it?. Yeah...I heard you heart said for "YES" just now. Thank You. Read more..... Again test any program file in your computer. It must be in normal as previous. Next step, test it by surfing internet by browsing any web page. It must be OK or even much faster than previous time, because your operating system has been restored and virus cleaned. If on surfing still slow, means your have to test your internet speed test. Maybe your internet service provider's server reacts very slow or slow. Test your internet connection speed at this site; FREE www.izzi.com.my/speedtest/ Click "Begin Test". It reads you for Downloading(DL) and Uploading(UL) internet connection speed by kbps for its unit. It must reads ABOVE 500/250 kbps for DL and UL, respectively. Above means; your internet service provider gave you a very superb-internet connection and if you found surfing internet still slow the are various reason for it to happened that way. OK - don't fret. Do the following procedures; 1. clear web history, if your are using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser; click HISTORY > SHOW ALL HISTORY > ORGANIZE > SELECT ALL > DELETE. 2. Disk CleanUp For this one better use shortcut key by using "Run Command"; click "start" > "Run..." > type 'cleanmgr' > OK 3. Disk Fragment click "start" > "Run..." > type 'dfrg.msc' > OK On performing computer routine maintenance for Item No. 1, 2 & 3; you can active surfing while those running programs in progress by minimizing those command boxes. Just take follow up reaction once asked by those command boxes. Once completed those Item 1, 2, & 3; I believe that your computer will be in well working order and in superb performance. Actually I'd put up many tips in other discussion on this issue. Especially how to SPEED UP YOUR MOZILLA FIREFOX web browser. If you need it, kindly let me know. OK Linda, sorry for my less and thank you for your great concern about your computer performance. [michaeldadona]
Actually reformatting your hard drive is not a good thing to do unless there is something so serious that it can not be fixed any other way. Not only do you lose all the information on your hard disk that is if you did not back it up you also have to re-install all of the programs that you previously had. A better idea, at least in my opinion, is to make sure you have at least these installed on your computer. 1. A good Anti-virus removal software 2. A good Anti-spyware,malware remover. There are so many great free ones on the internet that you have many choices. Another better idea then formatting your hard drive is to do a restore if you have Windows XP or higher this can be done. There were a couple of times when my computer was infected with a virus or trojan or other problem, but instead of formatting my hard drive I used my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and this got rid of the problem. They way I look at it is why should I go through all the aggravation of formatting instaling all the programs if I do not have to. [satisfier23]
Wow, what a nice conversation out here! Thanks to you both for the help out here... I am not using outlook to send email, only hotmail, yahoo, etc., so suppose if there's any virus in the computer, would it do something harmful for my email? Thanks and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I format my computer at least once in a year so that it keeps on running smoothly. As you keep in using the computer, it gets slower over time and it takes a whole lot of time if you don't format your computer. So it is a good idea to format your computer whenever it become slow so that you can be sure that no virus are there in your computer. Anti-virus programs aren't much reliable to remove viruses and viruses come first before definitions come in an anti virus. Anyways just be sure to reformat the computer at least once in a year. [pmspratik]
I still don't understand what is anti virus removal software! What is use of this tool? To remove anti virus? If I wanna remove an anti virus application, I could just go by the uninstall way, why do I need to use anti virus removal program? I'm little bit confused now? Thanks and good day! happy [lindazhao333]
It's been a long time since we've formatted our computer and now it needs to be reformatted again. My husband will be the one to do it since he's the one who knows about computers. I just hope after reformatting, our computer would operate faster... [Nhey16]
Ok good luck to your computer, wish you get it fast soon! Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Hello lindazhao! I see that you are happy after formatted your computer. I know it is fun when our computer get faster after we format it, plus, it is like brand new. Well, since I bought this laptop in August this year, I had formatted it twice. Both cases were because of virus infection. My laptop was going crazy, and it drove me crazy too! LOL. The second time I had my laptop formatted was last Monday. Now that I am happy because my laptop is running fast, working great and it is like buying a new one. So, the answer is, it depends on the condition of my laptop. Happy day! :) [Rexdoron]
Haha..I bet he will become the "virus" if he know his laptop got a problem. lol By the way, how good is NOD32, I'm curious to know. Thank you to you too. happy Have a great life. [Rexdoron]
Hi Linda...as we discussed I have not formatted my computer ever and get my daughter or her husband to do it for me. I suppose I should learn how to do it but since I have them around to do it I don't want to chance messing the whole thing up and have to get someone to really fix it at great cost. [okjohn]
Hi Mr.Okjohn, I think there are some CD which makes it very easy for you to format the system... Just put the CD inside ROM, do as what it instructs you, the computer will do the formatting by itself, at least this time it was working like this for me, hehe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I generally format my PC once a month but if I'm busy the time may extend.I did it yesterday and think I need to do it again as I feel it's not properly done. Those viruses are ruining the things and I don't like using antiviruses. [ralph12345abc]
I also don't like anti virus, but no way to avoid, can't imagine if my computer is working without any anti virus even for a single day, hehe... You don't keep anti virus, therefore you might need to format the computer once in a month, it does run fast though, without anti virus, hehe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I guess about ones each half or full year but it use to be less frequently. I think the time before I need to reinstall has become shorter for each version of MicroSoft OS released :) [wallie]
Wow, are you sure? Maybe coz each new version of Windows OS has something new added up, there's more chance to get trouble then, hehe... Formatting once in half or full year is just like what I do, or maybe I do it little less frequently than you... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Wow Such a Nice Discussion Today I Bought a 40 GB HDD & If I Plug-in its Shows There is No Windows on HDD & required formatting So I Format the Disk & Currently using it right now I am Very happy Because Its First time i bought any Hardware Equipments. have a nice day. [Tushavi]
What is HDD? First time I see this abbreviation, please just tell me what it stands for? Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I don't have a set time or anything, but I sure reinstall the OS every three or four months, once all the files have been exposed to the internet for sometime. With no perfect anti Virus and new viruses coming up each day and also the increase in spywares, it's not really a guarantee that you will be safe from viruses. So it's better to reinstall the OS. I have also noticed that the computer becomes really slow after some days and starts to get more sluggish. bournehappy [bournecaindelta]
Ya, it's true, computer is getting slower and slower day by day, when I can't bear any more I would do the formatting, haha... And you are quite right, seems not that easy to keep the anti virus controlling all viruses, since every day there's something new coming through... Disease comes easily, cure is always bit slow... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I had a friend do that about a year ago but I think it needs it again because when a survey says it will be a 10 minute survey, on my computer it takes half an hour! [xbrendax]
Half hour for taking a survey! I also experience it sometimes, it's really too boring, I would run away and close the survey page, even if I couldn't earn money through that, big headache for me, better off go and do something else, hehe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
My computer also very slow.I also want to reinstall it but I don't want to format it as there are something iportant. It's really very easy to do that and many of my classmates aften do that! But I think there maybe a little bad for the computer. [lishiwei]
No worry, you could copy and paste the important files into other hard disk, like disk D, disk E, etc., then format disk C only, reinstall the Microsoft Windows, mostly Windows come to C disk only... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I only reformat my Windows twice a year. But I never reinstall/reformat my Linux installation since I installed it on my computer. And only used "sudo pacman -Syu" command to upgrade the software or kernel to the newest version. For Windows XP I used nLite ( http://www.nliteos.com/ ) to customize my installation CD so that I don't have to reinstall any driver, windows update/hotfixes, remove component that I don't use and many more. [wanpisu]
Linux? I never used it yet, I do see it somewhere listed as an alternative service other than Microsoft Windows, haven't tried yet though... How is it? Easy to apply? Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Computer should be format only when needed. One reason is if infected with virus and some software or application are malfunctioning. Low memory can sometimes the reason for a slow functioning of computer. [semperfi625]
I don't know how is my memory space, maybe 768MB? Ya it's surely a good idea to update some hardwares, so that the computer will run fast accordingly... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I notice that my computer is slow right now. But I wouldn't want to restore it just because of that. If it is really necessary then you have to. But you can try to do something else to make it run faster. - You can defragmented the disk. - Make sure you don't have a virus/trojan horse/malware on your computer that cause the slowdown. Install the adware and virus program to check and delete it. - Delete unnecessarily file to free up your space. You must do those before you actually decided to restore your system. [monkeykingaround]
Hi moneykingaround, thanks for the advice, actually I don't know how to restore computer at all, haha! Now I'm using laptop instead of personal computer, been around eight months already, didn't format or restore yet, hehe... Ya I guess fragmentation is a good way to make everything in order, would do it some day... Good day and happy mylotting! happy [lindazhao333]
i had about 4 reformat for my pc. all of which was done because the pc was infected by a virus that my anti virus could not fix or repair. yup it takes about less than an hour to get it all done and one hour more to get all the things back on the pc like the pics, mp3's and other apps. it kindda fun doing a reformat.. keeps you busy and quite relaxing to... just dont do it very often cause frequent reformatting might damage your hard drive... : ) [paulj0s3ph]
Whenever my computer gets attacked by viruses, I format my computer to reinstall my PC [parithi]
You should not format unless it is really nessesary.I have not had to reformat my laptop but I have restored from a back up twiceoncedueto virus and the other time was because some of my application icons disappeared and were unrecoverable. Anytime my computer gets slow I run 3 different antispyware's one at a time and it fixes the problem. [StrawberryKisses]
I only do a restore to just before I got the virus. If you go back 2 months or more you will have to reinstall things but all your documents stay put. It has always gotten rid of my virus's. [StrawberryKisses]
I use to reformat every year but now it's every 2 years I guess lol. If you perform general maintence on your computer every few weeks, you don't need to reformat anyway. [gohan2091]
Sure, that's no problem... 1) Defrag your hard drive on a weekly basis. You can use the built in Windows one if you want but I prefer to use something a little more professional and in my opinion, better. I use O&O Professional Defrag but it does cost. You can however download this via torrent. 2) Registry Cleaners such as the one included in XP or Vista Manager I run every month to clean up old, outdate registry enteries. These slow down your PC so it's good to flush them out. 3) Registry Defrag is also included in XP or Vista Manager. It does the same as a hard drive defrag but it's for your registry instead. 3) Start up items. Everything that loads up on start up will slow down your PC so it's best to only allow programs that you need at start up to load at start up, rather than having everything starting up. For example, you don't need Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo Messenger starting up on a Windows boot if you do not use it that much. Why have it running in the background if you aren't even logged in? I only launch these programs when I need them. Untick programs you don't need on start up by going to RUN and typing in 'msconfig' (without the ') 4) Uninstall programs the right way will help speed up your computer. By default, the windows uninstaller program only removes some or all of files relating to the program you are uninstalling. It often does not remove registry enteries for that program. Using XP or Vista Manager Smart Uninstaller will ensure all files and registry enteries for that program will be gone for good. 5) Clean out prefetch folder. Everytime you load up a new program, a file will get stored in the prefetch folder (so next time you launch this program, your computer will load it up faster). However, this folder gets bloated quickly so it's a good idea to delete all files inside it every month. (C:/Windows/Prefetch) 6) Virus and Spyware scans can help keep junk away from your computer. AVG is good anti-virus software and for spyware, try Ad-Adware or Spybot: Search and Destory 7) Run disk cleanup to remove temporary files. XP or Vista Manager has a utility inside called 'Junk file remover' which does a better job. [gohan2091]
I format my computer at least once a year. It gets cluttered up after months of usage especially since i am a heavy downloader. I don't install much applications in my ocmputer because it just adds up to the registry and might slow down my computer. So once a year mostly around November of December. I just reformatted my computer few weeks ago and now it's faster than ever. [modstar]
I also don't install that many things into computer, since they'll take the space and slow down the speed... I think the problem is I surf lots of sites every day, maybe always something new I would go through, this might would give virus chance to come into my computer, and after some time the anti virus becomes weak, then the problem occurs... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Occassional formats keeps your computer tidy. I play a lot of games. I doesn't have even a graphics card and i play high end games on low settings. And then m computer will turn real slow. With each application I install, it gets slower and slower. At the end I will conclude that my computer has a virus and format it. Last time i frmated my entire computer, and it went super fast! But remember, ther is a certain no:of time you can format your hardisk. Mine is 24. i have formated 3 times already. So keep a watch over it. And, if you want some how-to-make-it-fast tips for your computer, go here: http://www.pcpappa.blogspot.com additionally, if someone likes the above blog (quite unlikely), then they might be interested in my personal blog too: http://www.adventuresmyself.blogspot.com [myzonez]
Hi myzonez, thanks for the tips, both of your blogs are nice! I've given comments in both of them... Thanks for the tips, quite useful! Have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Well, I just reformatted my computer for the first time Tuesday and my sister in law walked me through it. Everything went fine and accordingly to planned and was smooth sailing until I went and made a connection and it couldn't find my modem...so then I had to get on my older sidekick computer contact a friend who knows computers well and he tried to walk me through it but I didn't have the proper disk to reinstall my modem or Ethernet controller. I received the disk in the mail but haven't gotten to check it out to see if it worked since I had to babysit and hoping I will get to it today so I can get back on my newer one. It was faster and more efficient. Just had a few files deleted since I let others on my computer. So I am hoping it works. [mtdewgurl74]
I couldn't fix it. I had to take my computer to my friends house and he ended up installing a different modem since I had so much trouble with the other one. The new one doesn't dial up as fast as the previous one but I am back to using it atleast and it is faster then the side kick one I had. [mtdewgurl74]
Almost everytime I get a virus cause it slows mine down so much that its impossible to work with and I tried other virus removers and they just remove drivers that I need and programs so I just format it and start over and plus when I run outta space on my hard drive. [WayneCAlderman]
Not very often.I have many precious documents and I always detest the chance of losing them all while formatting my compute. And I used to have back ups regularly. I have formatted my computer only once as it was attacked by a vicious virus.I have been more careful since then getting a great anti virus anti malware installed. [balasri]
Unless unavoidable, I would never ever suggest anyone format the harddisk and reinstall the operating systems. It is too time consuming, especially if one has lots of applications and external drivers installed and you just need to forget one important application. I formatted my harddisk 2 weeks ago, and till now, my status is not yet up to date. A week after the format, I was attacked by virus and spyware. How interesting!!! [whyaskq]
I reformatted my computer a few months back for the very first time. I have decided that I may do this once every two to three years, a lot sooner if I experience major problems with my pc. I recently completed a computer maintenance and installation class and I was told by the teacher that this actually benefits your system; it gives you a clean slate with which to work with. Anyway, it is a lot of work having to reinstall all your programs and so forth, especially all the updates that you need to get from the Microsoft website. Andrew [AndrewFreyne]
This is my fifth or sixth PC I am using! Initially with my Pcs which were having very low configurations, I used to have the problems of speed and every time I used to get them formatted and reloaded. But this I used to do it only once, there after I used to get them upgraded! Now I am having two Pcs one Desk top which is an assebbled with most up[dated configuration and another is Laptop. I haven't formatted any one of these for last two years! Yes, but I have repairedmy windows with the CD once! I recall having trasferred my data to 4 GB penderive to have the same as back up! So today I am using my pendrives as back up to store the data and I am least bothered even if I need to formatt my PC, which I used to feel as a burdonsome task few years back! Thanks!good topic of discussion [AKRao24]
hi there,,,, hey i have a 250 gb hard disk and it is not easy to take the back up of that much data,,it takes a long tym also you need to have a huge backup disks for that,,,so i format my computer only when it is really necessary,,,,hey why dont you get yourself more ram so that your pc can be fast [ujjwalbatra]
It needs money to update the ram, haha... Yeah you are right, I'm also thinking to buy some new hardware to get my computer faster, my uncle said it's around 1600RMB, bit more than $200, when I make enough money online maybe I'll use the amount for the computer, hehe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I keep everything super organized so I always know in what kind of 'state' is my computer. That's why I format it only when: a) I get virus that I cannot dispose of it b) my hard drive stops working c) any other crucial component on my laptop stops working properly d) i install new OS (usually only a partition, not the whole drive) [neuronic]
I also only formatted part of the hard drive, C disk and D disk just, not the whole computer... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Personnaly i use an excellent programme it's called your uninstaller 2008. Each time a programme is installed or uninstalled, a restore point is automatically created.I find this feature very useful because my PC won't be set to a very old date and my files won't be lost all. And you can also create a restore point at anytime you want. I hope this can help. [Faysal200]
yes,"your uninstaller" is a software that uninstalls all the files of the programmes that you want to uninstall on your computer.unfortunately it's not free, but it gives you a trial of 24 days, then you have to register it. you can do a google search. [Faysal200]
me too, that's ever happen to me, but i always create for new partition to format drive C:\, because that is better than only formatting, sometimes formatting only make several description for system windows files net really deleted, so i use my trick to do that, but until today since 4 months ago my PC is going better, nothing trouble till now. So, i always continued to update my antivirus once a week. That's my best solution to keep my PC up, hehehe [lencarifin]
Thanks for telling me about your experience, I'll also do virus scan regularly, which would help keeping computer working long with no formatting... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
hi lindazhao!! i guess my son or hubby formatted our computer if it will not function anymoreloli mean it will on but windows not running ...then we do the formatting i guess we formatted at least every three months depending on who uses it..if its my son then surely it will be monthly.. [vanities]
Haha, your son must be very interested in formatting computer, hehe... Thanks for sharing and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
I often do it once in two months. Its not because I enjoy it but its because viruses always attack my PC. My lovely PC often gets sick and I have to format it. The restore thing doesn't work at all. I need to find some really good Antivirus program. [sanuanu]
I just use NOD 32, do hear that kaspersky is very good, it slows down my computer though, so I like NOD 32... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
hi,linda! well, i seldom reinstall the system of my pc unless my pc is ruined by some virus and doesn't work anymore..that depends on the situation. sometimes i have to reinstall the system for several times in order to sweep the virus off.. also i only format my system disk when reinstall my pc, so all the softwares or documents in other disks will be kept unchanged.. [kunking]
Yeah, that's what I do, usually save the documents, images, etc., into disks other than C, so when I need to reinstall Microsoft Windows, I just format C disk, all other things are kept safe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
Hi, I never format this computer, I made lot of format for the other computer, he is so tired lol [Very_Nice_Man]
the old computer [Very_Nice_Man]
It's not often well sometimes because I am too lazy to reinstall the computer LOL [tiara50gorgeous]
well, like twice a year... i do still use xp version of OS. i like it. it's stable. wont be switching to vista till a service pack two comes out. happy holidays. [shiloh_222]
yah i format my computer 4 to 5 times a day. is there any solution for this friend? [chandu9393231117]
Wow, formatting 4 to 5 times in a day? I can't imagine! Maybe you better ask some technologist to solve your problem... Good luck! happy [lindazhao333]
Yes I format my computer every month and it is ver good to our computer and keep the computer perfect Has anyone else tried formatting a DVD_R (non recordable) disc using theformat disc utility? I tried it and it works!! I got the standard windowformat on the disc and can record files to, delete files, and open and record new files. After reading all the problems that dvd-r drives can come up with, I'm afraid it will crash something if I use this. Anyone else have information? Thank if you do. [imtooz]
actually, it is not necessary to reformat the PC when it is going smoothly.. me? i formatted my PC when i sensed that something is wrong in it or when it has virus that cannot be removed by my virus scanner. I think the more you format your hard drive, the more it may become sloppy and unusable. and worst, it may become damage. [marky15]
Wow , is that so? Then I really need to be careful about my computer, don't make that many formatting things, when it's all dead I would have nothing to do but spend lots of money to buy a brand new computer, just wanna make it as late as possible, hehe... Thanks for the response and have a good day! happy [lindazhao333]
and by the way, in the contrary, it is good to format disk once in a while when it has a lot of virus and defects. erasing all the content of the disk helps deleting the virus in it, of course. so, lastly, it is suggested to format the disk when your computer is running more of the times in a day.. [marky15]
Wow, my computer is working 18 hours a day I think, haha... Coz when I go to bed, my computer won't be able to sleep, my Mom or Dad would use it for playing Mahjong game with online, haha... Thanks for the response and Happy New Year! happy [lindazhao333]
I have not done a format in quite a while to be honest, I think it is needed since I have a laptop, but the thing is I do not have the disk with me for windows XP and I do not want Vista on my laptop at all, that will be the death of the laptop. So for now what i do si run spywares, do a disk defrag, registry cleaner and window washer and that helps, but sooner or later I will ahve to give this a complete overhaul. [gtdonna]
My brother also had Windows Vista when he bought the laptop, after some days he couldn't bear any more, degrade it into Windows XP then got pleased again, hehe... For all the ways you do, you can keep the laptop ok to use for a while I think, when you get the Disk you'd better reformat and make everything fresh all over again... Thanks for the response and Happy New Year! happy [lindazhao333]
I format when my hard disk gets full or when my computer has virus. i always keep on downloading movies and i keep my computer off hardly for 5 hours for day so my hard disk get full after downloading many movies so i have to format it to have new movies even formatting computer is very boring job and i hate to do it. [saichandtalluri]
I used to download movies and even TV series, we had 24 hours and prison break in the hard disk, I deleted 24 hours long time ago, and couple of days ago I deleted some other videos, including one season of prison break, now only another season of prison break is existing, coz my sister in-law likes it, so I keep it for her... I seldom download any video again, don't wanna take the hard disk space, plus there might also would be some virus coming along with the video... Thanks for the response and Happy New Year! happy [lindazhao333]
i never format my computer cuz there are lots of things in my computer, like e-books which i have searched in the net,and some other course books which i searched in the net. there are also some movies i watched in the net and i found them pretty good then i downloaded it and stored it in my disk D and disk E. if i am going to format my disk D and disk E then i should go and delete all the files and books. i can store it in the cd but it's not very convenient to use the cd. copy them all in the cd and then copy them all to the disk? well,i guess if there are virus in the files then the virus is also copied. but i know it's better to format the disk regularly. but i just can't. Hey, I have formatted computer alot of times. But the only times you actually should format your computer is either if it is running slow, or you have got some viruses or spyware that you somehow can't remove and the only way to remove it is by formatting your hard drive. The only times I have formatted my hard drives were when the computer had viruses in them. Yep, most of the stupid antiviruses don't even work well these days. And also if you had some important files on your computer before you format it, you need to go through the loooong process of backing up all your important files. That is the only part I hate about formatting computers! [EliteUser]
