My Computer Has A Virus

Does anyone know very much about virus or virus protection/removal?? My virus protection caught it and is stopping it but it keeps comming back and I am constantly having to click clean file messages. The scan says that it cannot quarentene it or remove it, just block it. Any suggestions? I wonder if a differant virus protection could remove it?

AVG anti virus might help. Its free.^^ [knutz18]
thanks, I am going to try it [devideddi]

Hello there. I would suggest to use the Norton Antivirus protection. It is proven and tested to be the best Antivirus removal tool. You can download it in www.symantec.com. If you are done installing it, be sure to download always the latest virus definition of the Norton Antivirus. The virus defintion can be downloaded freely in www.symantec.com/downloads, i hope this could help you. Best regards [sweetrose]
yes this helps, thanks [devideddi]

i have tried all the antivirus softwares most of them detect the virus but are unable to remove them. but Avira's antivirus(avira antivir personel edition classic) gave best results its detects and removes all the viruses. its free u can download it from www.avira.com [pradeepmishra]
great, thank you very much, gonna check it out [devideddi]

Change ur antivirus software, use norton corporat or mcafee instead, update ur antivirus softwares, almost all antiviurses have built in recycle bin called qurantine or virus vault so cehck it, if the detected viruses are there, make sure u delete them, also if u have shared something on ur network then stop sharing [usman400]
How do I delete it? The software can't and when I search it it says no file found. And no I'm not sharing on network thanks [devideddi]

AVG is very good for remove virus [amministra]

Hy. somethimes winsows is alerting you how if the virus is bad and opens a internet with the antiviruses. But in my experience try kaspersky is a good antivirus but u have to buy him, other ways serach for an antivirus and they serach for an license..good luck [Corezz]

If the antivirus software cannot remove it, then do so manually. Since your antivirus has detected it, then you should be able to check the location of the file by checking the settings in the antivirus program. Now just navigate to the file and delete it. Some virus and adware programs will have a seperate file in another folder that scans the file and restarts it every time it stops, which will stop you from deleting it through Windows. If this happens, then start your computer with a boot disk and navigate to the file and delete it through DOS. [Asylum]
Ok when u say Navigate to file.. DoI use windows explorer? or how? I searched it and search said no such file found. The file is something like tmp157.tmp I cleaned up/deleted all my temporary internet and such files. Not sure I know what I am doing. Thanks [devideddi]

yeah i agree,, AVG.. try it.. or zone alarm [akinov]

I guess McAfee is good ,try that. [deepuj]

Symantec Antivirus...........it updates and runs automaticly and allows you to delete manually viruses that are in the list................ [verdurilla]

Sophos Anti virus is good. Also you may want to try and use a dos or safe mode virus scanner which should be able to delete the virus and stop it comming back. Some anit virus programs cant delete infected files when running windows. Have a look at this link which describes how to use and emergancy copy of sophos (sav32cli).. http://www.sophos.com/support/disinfection/pedis.html Hope his helps [mike286]
thank u so much, I am checking out link now. I tried running virus scanner in safe mode but it would not run in safe mode. [devideddi]

I use only recovery if your os is xp.You just click start;programs;acessories;system tools;system restore.its every easy to remove virus. [ricomari]
that simple, huh thanks [devideddi]

For home protection i reccomend Bit Defender 10 Plus or F-Secure anti-virus 2007. [msdos85_2007]

its not a virus, but its a worm. you may try mcafee virusscan, if its still coming back, on of your dll's are affected, the best way to solve it, is to reformat your computer [mavijayne]
what are my dll's? I know a little about computers an learn more every day but I wouldn't know where to begin to reformat. Would that take everything away? No worm removers? [devideddi]

I reccomend Bit Defender Antivirus for you. It has got a very large database of virus defenitions which gets updated every day. It has also got a spyware remover. So download it from www.bitdefender.com and perform a complete scanning of your hard disk. The latest version of bit defender for windows platform is Bitdefender Internet Secutity 10.You can download it to try for 30 days(I think). If you need a free antivirus, go for Avast Antivirus (www.avast.com). Please do a complete scan of your harddisk (all drives) Avast antivirus has also got a memory scan by which it scans the files that is already in the memory. My top suggesion is Bit defender and the second preference is Avast. Hope your computer will be OK soon. [krishkris]
that's alot of good information! Thanks for the help! [devideddi]

i will suggest that viruses are very dab there is no actual solution to them.if u even put an anti virus like nortorn or macfee your pc will be dam slow, also the file might have deleted of corrupted some of ur system file.So i will suggest to put the lastest Panda Antivirus .But before that thke a back up of ur c: drive and format it once u have formatted put the od back with panda anivirus latest or pccillin. [dravid]

may be u shoud try other AV ? NOD AVANT NAV MCAFFE ... ? from where the virus come ? Internet ? some web site ? if it come from some web site than u Should not come again to that web site ... if its come from files .. than u should not use that file again ... or u may send the infected file to the AV maker ... they will help u create the update for that virus ... [lameran]
I got it when I was searching online for pictures and clip art [devideddi]

install nortan anti virus and run it, it would be great it will clean out da viruses [addy90]

I've read through all the responses here and everyone is just pushing an antivirus on her, can you let us know what the name of the virus is that your antivirus is detecting and cannot remove? There may be a simple removal tool, or it may be a piece of spyware that another type of software may have better luck with. [Windslider]
goes something like this tmp358.tmp not exactually but simular [devideddi]

I think you should format your computer is the best way of getting rid of viruses because in my point of view even after antivirus shows it has cleaned the virus it may not have cleaned it. [masterminds]
the av says it can't remove it but it will block it [devideddi]

Just check what's the name of your virus, do an online search how to remove it. Enter a pc forum and most probably you 'll receive help how to remove it. [ronaldinu]

use professional editions of antivirus software they remove copletely [hackman]

Hi, maybe your anti virus program is outdated, if that is the case it could not really clean that virus. Try and update it then scan it again. Or you could try other anti virus program. Maybe it is a syware, in which case you need an antispyware program. Usually spywares and adwares are more annoying than viruses. I hope you'll get rid of that pest, good luck. [unfathomedpsyche]
thanks for your help, I'm trying it all [devideddi]

I recommend that you use AVG, you can download it for free and it also updates so there's no problem regarding new virus. Also, use an internet explorer with pop up blocker. And you can also firewall some websites to prevent them from entering your PC. [faylinn_chaeli]
thanks, alot of people have said AVG,must be good [devideddi]

McAfee will help you surely....but you can even go for AVG...coz it's free [ahsan15]

i use nod32 because it consume a little of RAM and i don't have any problems with viruses. another good antivirus is kaspersky, who i used before this, or mcafee [siluka]

If you get nortons anti-virus and a bunch of adaware blockers that should be able to get rid of the virus. If it doesn't go away then you may have to take your computer to a computer store to get it fixed. Good luck getting rid of the virus. [Lady_Vincy]

check the validity of your antivirus software and install any immediate updates if your antivrus software is not updated and if the system is not helpful take the help of any system engineer reload the os and a new updated antivirus. [rohithiyer2006]

Use the combination of AVG and another antivirus called AntiVir. Both of them are free to use and they are warking pretty well. Much better then norton for example 0_o... I would have post a link but since I can't copy paaste.. :/ Well just use google search, you will find it quick enoght I think.. [yoleis27]

I often got virus going into my computer. Luckily, I installed one of the best security software called McAfee Internet Security. This software protect you from virus, privacy, firewall to spam protection. Best of all, it has a very good interface. The high performance of this software makes it my favorite compared to Norton or ZoneAlarm. Other software are pretty slow. If you are looking for a free one, i would recommend you to get Avast. Not only it gives a great protection technology, it also has a very good performance consuming less memory. What are you using now? [jnr1234]

You may use Avast!4.7 Home edition. ( www.avast.com ) Its very good and free. They shall give 1 year free license if you register. You may extend the license after 1 year for free. They update virus database everyday. [bacchu30]
there is a option of either free or trial version. u can opt for paid version as it wil carry more features than the freeware [wise_old_owl]

use a good antivirus software. u can use Nod32 or Avast!. both are very good anti virus n well reputed. avast is a free anti virus and can be easily obtained from avast.com. nod32 is a light yet works gr8 on viruses. u have to pay for it but u can still use a 30 day trial package [wise_old_owl]

you should reformat your computer [mavijayne]

I recommend you to scan your computer with any of the following antivirus programs like Norton Antivirus, AVG, McAfee, Trend PC-Cillin etc etc... If your PC is still infected, i recommend you download any spyware or adware removal software like Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware etc... Hope this helps :-D [vivekajith]

ok friend..if you want safety your computer..i would like prefer use kaspersky antivirus..kaspersky is the great antivirus that i had ever use..Kaspersky has a very clean and easy to use interface.when you use this antivirus that can detect any virus included as bootini, trojans, worm and other... before i use kaspersky, i already use some antivirus as AVG, avast, norton, node 32 and macaffe...this all antivirus is not good for me.. [afidzol]

I once had a virus on my computer. The virus protection that I had also caught it, but like you, I had to click "clean files" sometimes several times a day. Luckily, my father is a computer genius, so he completely wiped out my hard drive, and that solved the problem. Of course, I had to reinstall all of my programs, but it was well worth it to have a "clean" computer. Good luck! [Sarah1977]

AVG detects more threats than Norton or Ncaffe, but as you are allready aware of the virus, you must remove it. You can be sure that the code is not in your best interests. You can try using the Malicious Software Removal Tool from microsoft. It is free to use. I use AVG, Spybot and Adaware. These are all free. AVG updates automatically and I update the others every sunday. I then run them. I allways delete all cookies after I have been online. I do not go to dodgy sites. I allways scan anything I have downloaded with AVG. I never download from a source I think is dodgy. If you are still having problems, go to a specialist. It is always good to keep on learning about computers and the internet. Perhaps you could do a course. Otherwise you will have to depend on others when you have problems. [mikester]

I have responded to one virus question and now I just see virus questions? I am repeating myself here lol. ok here I go again........ go here http://www.google-earth-download.net/ download the pack, select norton,(and adaware) install, update norton, restart computer in safe mode, scan computer using norton, update norton very regularly. [123bart]

What antivirus software are you using? Maybe you should just switch to some other antiviruses which work better with your computer. There are many antivirus software out there, even the ones you can get for free. Try google around. :) [nufoundglory]

I am using McAfee for my virus protection needs. It detects almost all viruses, and with heuristics technology, it also detects virus-like activities, making your computer virtually virus-free. It is also light on resources, you won't even notice that it is running in the background protecting your computer all the way through. I also tried Norton, but sad to say it didn't pass my taste. It is a resource hog, and it slowed my computer like a turtle. But it is also good in detecting viruses! If Norton wasn't a resource hog, then it will be on my recommended list regarding anti-viruses for the Windows platform. Beside that, Avg free edition is quiet enough for us if we have already a firewall and anti spyware... U also could upgrade your avg into pro edition.. And actually, there isn't the best anti virus, every anti virus have weakness.. Happy mylotting all.... God bless you..^^....... [joserinfans]

Isn't that annoying? I recommend the software AVG free edition which you can download from the Cnet site www.download.com. It rid me of the dreaded I explore virus years ago and it has worked to defend my computer ever since. I turned it off one night a few nights ago because I was playing video games and it was slowing down my computer and I ended up getting a virus on my computer that has kept me dealing with it for the last 2 days. I am reinstalling the newest version of AVG as I type this. [sharone74]
