I have done disk clean up and that hasn't helped, shut down and restarted but it is still very slow. I am trying to respond to discussions but have only managed two in about half an hour. I have been to other sites they are slow but not as slow as myLot so could this be a myLot problem? I am a computer novice so don't really know what to do so any advice would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance, will get back to you but obvioously as slow may be some delay. Ellie :D

No try clearing up any non nessacary programs and defragment your computer it is an option were it puts all your program together not spread out also put all unused short cuts in your trash and if you have alot of start up programs make them non start up so that when your computer turns on all these programs arent starting. [dabest451]
Thank you for your help in this, I really appreciate it. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Do you have anti-spyware and anti-virus software that can check for and remove spyware and viruses from your computer. There could be any number of reasons your computer has slowed, but spyware and other malicious software that you pick up from the internet can slow it down and you usually never know it's there until you check for it. [dogsnme]
You're very welcome. [dogsnme]
It could be the actual site rather than the computer that is running slow or it could be down to any installs that you have. Sometimes if you install a lot of programmes that can slow it down. It could also be down to your internet supplier, we are with tiscali and sometimes they are hell and everything runs so slow and I think that it is the computer but it always turns out to be them. [gemini_rose]
Hi Gemini_rose, It does seem to have sorted itself out now as I just installed some updates and then turned off and on again so I will try to play catch up now. Ellie :D [ellie333]
hi ellie 333 its not your computer at all,its mylot running really slow as I write my responses and hit the post response' then wait and wait and finally it posts it. I am also really'slowed down in how many postsI can do. wish someone would ask mylot to goose things up a bit. theblue line is still onlyh one third of the way across lol. [Hatley]
the same with me ,when i went into the mylot ,this site was quite slow,i opten wait a lot of time to respond the discussion. i advise us take this problem to the ower of mylot so that we can get a quicker environment. [fwangaa]
Sometimes your processor can be running slow, it may be trying to update some software. Control + Alt + Delete will show you what processes are running. If you're not using a process go ahead and close it out, the less memory that you're using the better. I've been there before, computers do their own thing sometimes. If you see NETWORK SERVICE a lot just know your ISP is taking a few memory chips from you. [gitfiddleplayer]
i often do that when i worked in my friend's computer. [fwangaa]
Hi ellie, sleepThank God! I thought is was my computer, as it is I'm a very novic to a computer and yes it is so very slow, I wonder what is going on?confused if you find out how to speed it up let me know, gosh it awful. Love and Hugles Tamara [tamarafireheart]
happyHi ellie, Back to normal everything is fine "hooray" Thanks ellie. Love & Hugles. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Doesn't that just make you crazy? Have you cleaned out your temporary internet files? Sometimes when mine gets slow that is the problem....once I delete them it's back to normal. [jillhill]
Glad you are back to normal! It just about can drive you to drink when it's so slow! LOL [jillhill]
It may only be Mylot is slow for you Ellie. It seems to affect different parts of the world at different times. I would not worry about it too much at the moment. You will most likely find it will be running normal again shortly. [Goodie123]
Hi Goodie, working tomorrow though and I have a real rather than virtual party going on throught the night as my younger daughter is having a few friends round to celebrate getting her new job and before I get my new carpet laid in the next couple of weeks LOL. so will be so far behind if I don't, but it won't be late one tonight! Huggles. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi ellie I'm not sure if it's myLot or not, one minute mines slow then fast. One thing to do if it happens again or just slows up period is click on "Tool" on your toolbar, then click on "Delete Browsing History" then clear out "Temporary Internet Files", "Cookies", and "History", then reboot. This seems to help even if you use another brower, like Firefox, etc., to just open up Internet Explorer and do the above steps. I hope this helps! [LadyT1208]
Hi LadyT, I have done all this and all now seems to be back up to speed again, yiipee. Thanks for advice. Some tonight have said that myLot was being slow so coul have been a combination of both. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Ellie, try to scan the computer. Or run your antivirus program It can help. If not, wellcome back and I shall try to help you Susanne [Lucky_strike]
My laptop is also slow sometimes. But often,it depends on what page I am looking at Susanne [Lucky_strike]
You might have a virus or something. I got one once and everything ran really slow like that.. but now it is okay after the virus was contained. At the time my AVG had expired and I didn't download an update... but when I did it contained the virus and everything worked well again. [OreoCookie3]
Hi Oreo I did just do some updates and restart and the problem does in fact seemed to have resolved, thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi Ellie well Mylot is running fine on my End I think you need to run a Virus and Spyware Scan at the sounds of things also try a Disk Defragment and hopefully that might help you [gabs8513]
Hi Gabs all up to speed now thanks, I have just done this and restarted and resolved. Huggles. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Make sure that u have installed only one anitvirus. There are some speed up softwares which can do a bit but not appreciable. The best merhod is to format so that any hidden virus can be deleted [bharatsignal]
Hi Thank you but how do I do this, the problem seems to be solved now anyway but for future reference. Ellie :D [ellie333]
You've got spyware, most likely. I'm going to give you the links to all the spyware blockers that I use. These are not my personal links, but links to professional spyware removers. I have used all of these products in the past and they are free. This one is for BOClean by Comodo. This one saved my computer! Literally. A trojan horse virus had been zipped up into some documents and then unzipped and tried to replicate itself a hundred times. The BOClean stopped it and shut it down before it had time to replicate. Then it eradicated the virus. http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html Do you have a firewall? If not, you need one. This one's the best. http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ And an anti-virus system. http://antivirus.comodo.com/ Also free. And one more. http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer_new.html?hl=en&gl=us&ciNum=11 Go to the above link and download the Google software pack. You don't have to download everything, but make sure you leave the "Spyware Doctor" box checked to download that. It's the full version not trial. Don't go to the spyware doctor main site to download the free trial. It is just the trial version and won't remove anything. The Google version (link above) will find and effectively remove EVERYTHING that could be slowing down your computer. I use that daily and it catches most of the spyware that I run into and that is usually a lot! If you don't like any of these, you might try Lavasoft. They're good, but it's like using a mallet on your computer to kill a fly. Very thorough! Removes everything including things it shouldn't. You can find them online. I never use them cause they take off WAY too much! Best of luck. Beauty Queen [beautyqueen26]
You are such a sweetheart! happy I hope any of the links posted can help in the future. I'm happy to hear that the problem is resolved. On days when my computer is not working right, I feel cut off from the world and my friends! Be well. Have a blessed day. Beauty Queen P.S. Thanks for best response. [beautyqueen26]
Please check your anti virus running. Sometimes the slowness was due to the anti virus installed especially if it set up to scan every step you are making from your pc or when accessing to internet. Also, if you can take a look in the task manager, I think you can see a lot of stuffs there that are not needed but it is running on your PC. [agihcam]
Hi, Yes I do have anti-virus running I will take a look into the task manager and see what is going on, thanks for your help and advice, it does seem to be fine today though. Ellie :D [ellie333]
You can try formatting the whole computer just make sure you have a back up copy of all your files. You can also ask an expert to check the programs installed as this may also be one cause. You can also check on how old your computer is, might turn out that you need to have it changed already. You can also check what you use to go on the internet. Mozilla Firefox is better and faster then Internet Explorer. Goodluck, i hope you get it fixed. [jammyt]
Hi Jammy, I will not get an expert to look at it without personal recommendation the last guy I used charged £30 an hour and didn't actually do anything to help and didn't come back like he said he would, Grrr. But I will try these other things first, Thank you for your help and advice. Ellie :D [ellie333]
It could be that you are running your processor and it is heating up. You should try to disk defragment so to make more space on your hard drive, make sure the fan on your processor is working, get rid of junk on the computer you don't use anymore, open the computer up and clean the dust out of it. If all else fails take it in to be repaired. It could just be a really old peace of junk too. Good Luck. [Alex42692]
Hi Alex, Thank you for your advice. I will derfagment though anyway. It seems fine today as I have installed some updates and turned off and restarted and back up to speed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I have the same problem, only on Mylot. New update is giving me many problems. Not only is running super slow, but also is kicking me off every minute or so to sign in again....sad I can manage one discussion per 20 minutes if I am lucky......sad [polachicago]
Hi I know some people that are experinecing this with myLot too but mine seems fine again now and is back running at top speed. It is better to go do something else when it runs that slow here eh! Hope your problem resolves. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Well it can be because all your RAM is already in use so your computer is running slow try to make a RAM desfragment with a program from internet called RAM defragmenter [VirulentN3]
Hi Thanks, that maybe the reason as I did get an alert about virtual memory whatever that means. It is fine again now though. Ellie :D [ellie333]
It could be a software program you install is incompatible with Windows. I do not mean the Windows update, but did you install a third party software recently? What you do is to uninstall that program and if that does not work, put it back, and then uninstall the next third party program and keep repeating until you get the computer back to speed. Usually if you know when the computer started to have problems, you will know when it went bad. The other thing is that you may have gotten a trojan or a virus and someone is using a keylogger. Go to Freeware Home and get an anti keylogger as well run the anti virus and use a firewall. [suspenseful]
Hi Suspenseful, What is a keylogger sorry I have never heard that expression before but will look into this. I have done some updates recently and have deleted lots and shut down again and restarted and it does seem to be fine now. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hmmm, do you have a good Antivirus Software program? I would run that so it will check every single file. Also, have you deleted your cookies? Those cookies add up quickly and can really bog down the system. Those two things would be my best guesses. If your computer is more than 2 years old, maybe it's just got too much data and junk on it. Okay, there, I am now out of ideas. Hope you get to the bottom of this. [PearlGrace]
Hi PearlGrace, I have deleted a lot of files and cleared cache and defragmented and now it does seem back up to speed but years computer is over two years old so probably needs more space somehow. Thanks for your help and advice appreciated. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi Ellie I know that Darkwing has been having problems with her computer too so am not sure wether it is another glitch since mylot changed the layout of the page or not as Darkwing has done has had to do all sorts to get her computer working yet it is still slow-huggles littleowl [littleowl]
Hi Ellie mine and Tamaras was on go slow too the other night so don't think we were the only ones-I've got to get intouch with Darkwing myself...thanks for reminding me! Otherwise would of forgotton huggles littleowl [littleowl]
Have you tried bribing your computer with homemade cookies? That's what I do. It works well most of the time--depends upon what type of cookies I make. :) [nerdytina]
Hi Have cleared the cookies rather than bribe it with them LOL. All sorted now though thanks. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Have you tried to delete cookies? That also helps. Do you have a spyware cleaner? Spies like to tap into your computer and that will make your computer go very slow also. Have you tried the disc defragment? That will also speed your computer up. Sometimes Mylot loads slow for me too but my other sites will load just fine. It could just be the Mylot site only that is loading slowly. [stephcjh]
Hi Steph it seems fine now so could have been myLot as wasn't that slow on other sites but slower than usual. I have cleared cookies and defragmented and cleared other stuff too and seems back up to speed thankfully. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hmmmmmmm last days people were complaining about mylot so it may be mylot but if u have virus then u can get ur window re done that might help wish u all the best take care [cupid74]
Hmmmmm u mean u have arrange enough space for Mylot to play around not bad idea just enjoy [cupid74]
I don't know what to tell you. I will be checking back because I sometimes have this happen too. I'll be interested in the responses. xxx [raydene]
Hi Raydene, I have been given some excellent advice here so yes well worth reading through responses as many have given links to rally helpful sites too. All resolved now and back up to speed, yippee. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I have no clue, but I have asked someone who might be able to help you in a little bit. Good luck. [ShellyB]
Hi Shelley oh that is so kind of you thank you, the problem has resolved now but it might be worth reading through the responses as there has been some great advice given with links to really informative sites too. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Shelly sent me happy But, judging from your answers to others it seems as if things are getting back on track without any assistance from me. I hope your computer stays running better happy [fwidman]
lol I think we all have eh! Ellie :D [ellie333]
ellie333, I and another person here had some trouble with our PCs running very slow and at times would FREEZE. We did everything that you did and still did not fix the fault. What happened to us was it was a HIDDEN VIRUS, and yes we had Norton and other anti virus protection but it still got in. We d/l out files and then wiped the PC clean, loaded up all the programs and new Virus protection then loaded the FILES, GOT IT, a hidden Virus in the files. Now I say this as it was the two of us in MYLOT who had problems. I hope this is not the case for you, but be prepared to do that, to reprogram the lot. HICCUP/ [hiccup]
Hi Hiccup, thankfully it wasn't this I think I just needed to create more space which I have done and it is working fine again now, thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Try deleting your recycle bi emptying your cookies from your internet browser, Also delete some files that you think have no use for you anymore. Also Ask for an opinion form an expert if you need a new computer already or if there's a problem with your internet browser. [magojordan]
Hi Thank you magojordan, I have done all of this exccept the expert advice and everything does seem to be back up to speed thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Type, increase my computer speed from any search engin and download for free. [alpha7]
Hi to you both, yes I will do this thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I'm not an expert but when mine slows down or hardly runs either I got a virus or there is a bunch of spyware running on my computer. Have you tried downloading a spyware program, there are some free ones online if you search for them, spyware runs and slows the computer to almost a stop sometimes. I use AVG free as a virus protection it is free and I have had no problems, I also downloaded a firewall that has been a real help, try searching free spyware programs, have you cleaned out your cookies also, I don't believe it is a mylot problem, what virus program are you running? [bdugas]
Hi bdugas, I have all these in place but have deleted lots of things and shut down and restarted and it seems to be back up to speed so I think it was space I needed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
There are a lot of cause that can slow your PC, is your PC using Dual Core Processor? If yes, then you should download and install the dual core hotfix from Microsoft, if your PC slow by the times goes by maybe you never defrag your hardisk and you already installed so much software that can take memory resources from your computer. Defrag your hardisk and then try to disable the unused background services on your desktop, you can disable it from msconfig, or delete unused software program cleanly, try to delete the reg key (for advanced user) or you can clean from freeware cleaning software like cc clean and etc ... If your internet browser slow ... maybe there is some spyware, virus or malware on your computer, try to clean this by using antispyware software and antivirus. Clear your cookies, Delete Files Offline, and check your internet connection speed. May it helps you all. [maxilimian]
Hi Maxilimian, Thank you so much for your help and advice. I think I must have been short of memory as I have deleted quite a few unessential programs and others bit and it does now seem to be back up to speed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
just now i read you message and for my openion is just clean it weather virus is effected or not just see and if virus is effected then you have to format you system this is the one and another one is actually what is ur ram speed and ur internet connection speed just check it once and my best suggestion is just format you system and start using you will solve ur problem [nasohail3]
Hi Thank you for your help and advice. It does now seem to have resolved itself as I deleted a few unwanted programs that were taking up spacce. Ellie :D [ellie333]
You can try and fix this by fixing the registry, you can download the free registry fixed and can do it, it helps. check this link to download the same. http://tinyurl.com/6jbkgg [realgem1]
Hi Realgem, thank you so much for the link, I may try this anyway but I have managed to get back up to speed by deleting some files and deframenting so problem does seemed to have resolved. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I find myLot very slow at times. If it's just myLot and not other sites then it's probably just as well to abandon myLot for the time being and go back to it later. Has your computer had it's Ready Brek this morning? [GreenMoo]
LOL, no it has just had its two cups of tea so maybe the energy levels are low eh! Back up to speed now after making more spacce and defragmenting. Ellie :D [ellie333]
hi there i had this very problem for some time till recently until my ex came over the hill to see me one night he told me to download glary utillities from cnet.com. now i have a computer that is loading every-thing soooo fast even the net is running fast wwwwooooooowwww it's so good now. latas lamb101 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo [lamb101]
Hi Lamb I will take a look at the site, thank you but have managed to get it back up to speed now thankfully. Ellie :D [ellie333]
below are the suggestion to improve pc performance, but you should also check you internet connection as it may be the cause of PC being slow. 1. defrag pc 2. clean viruses etc. 3. clean registery 4. defrag registry also you should check what is processor speed and memory you have. get more memory and higher speed processor if you are using old pc. [sanjayhm]
Hi Thank you and thank you for listing in sections so I could do in order. I have defragmented etc and it seems to be running back up to speed. Your help and advice is appreciated. Ellie :D [ellie333]
You can use system mechanic software. It contains lot of options to improve system performance as well as its speed. Initially my computer also run slowly. When I tried this software, my computer's speed increased gradually. [arunmenon2006]
Hi Thanks I appreciate your advice will take a look, thankfully it does seem back up to speed again. Ellie :D [ellie333]
in the computer registery find an option for paging (u can go to start menu and press "run" write there regedit for going in the registry u can also add 'dual core' or 'core 2 duo' in ur cpu [rajat14modi]
Hi Thank you I will try this but it does seem to have resolved itself, you helpa and advice are appreciated. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Have you run a virus scan. I've had one that was running slow like that and it ended being a virus that was making it run so slow. [valerie37]
Hi I don't know how to? I will find out and then do that jus in case but it does seem to be back up to speed now. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Actually your computer have virus, that's why it run slow. first you install a antivirus software ( Updated ). Or updates can be download from internet. Scan your computer and fix the viruses Ok.. I recommend CA Antivirus 2008.. [karaku25]
Welcome to myLot Karaku I feel privelged that I am your first response, thank you so much for that and for the advice. Keep posting, keep responding and keep having fun with this site. Ellie :D [ellie333]
You should try having your computer installed with a higher memory maybe you have too much downloaded stuff on your computer that it is making things slower for you. Why not have your computer checked by an expert.happy [p3halliwel2005]
Hi, I think maybe I have not got much memory. I will get someone to check it all out but it does seem fine now I have deleted a few things and back up to speed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I didn't read all the responses Ellie, so maybe someone has already suggested this. But have you deleted cookies and un used programs? I do this every few months and it really helps to speed things up. Some computers you can set to automatically delete cookies too - thats how I ended up setting mine up. [TessWhite]
Hi Tess yes I have deleted the cookies and temporary files but will go through and uninstall any unused programs to make some extra space anyway. Thanks for your advice. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi Ellie, I know I am a little late into the discussion but if you want to stop unnecessary programs starting at start up.... Go to START and select RUN In the box there type in - msconfig A box will appear called System Configuration Utility Click on the STARTUP tab at the top of the box Uncheck the programs you don't want to start at startup. If you are not sure what the programs are, either leave them checked or type the name in google to do a search. There will be several webpages that will tell you what they are for and if they are essential to startup. If you can't find out whether they are necessary for startup, don't uncheck them because it could cause a problem with next start-up. This works for me on XP and it will also work on Windows ME too.. Good luck.. :-) [derek_a]
Hi Derek thank you for this advice I really appreciate it and this is the sort of set by step info that I need to be told as I really am a novice either this or someone to do it for me but I don't know anyone who is that good with them. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I think may be your computer is overloaded. You put too many inside your computer, you have to clear it up. I suggest to do diafragma first, if not working fast, better you do a backup for your data and format your computer, then your computer will clear, should be fast then. [meiyeec511]
Hi meiyeec, Thank you for your advice I think I may have to make extra space and defragment yes. It does seem to be fine again now though thankfully. Ellie :D [ellie333]
RAM is perfect for speeding a computer up. Learn more about it here: http://www.howstuffworks.com/ram.htm [TannerSite]
Hi Thank you both and thank you tanner site for the link it was useful. It is now back up to spedd as I have deleted a lot of unecessary programs and shut down and restarted again. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Ok I try to resolve this,... I also often to be like you,.. I manage my internet Cafe,.. Ok Let Me try:1. Be Sure there are No Virus on your Computer 2. Disable Your Program that Running every time you start the Computer. 3. Do Unnecessary Program 5. Anti Virus Sometimes make your computer Slow,.. Change You Anti Virus. 6.Use Utility Tools Such as Easy Registry, CC Cleaner 7.Tweaking your Memory? 8.Optimize your Operating Systems 9.Defrag System at least 1 times a week 10.Open The CPU and Clean Up From Dust and Dirt. [mycorp]
Hi Mycorp, Thank you for your help and advice and for listing it in a way I can understand, step by step as like I said I am a novice where it comes to computers, appreciated. Thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
its may be your cmos bettary problem. you can change your pc cmos bettary to solve this. hope it will be help. sometimes using antivirus like norton may slow your pc. its very normal. Or sometimes your pc may attacked by virus. then can be slow your pc. scan your pc by updated anti virus. thank you... [agladiator]
Hi agladiator thank you for your help and advice here. I have now managed to get back up to speed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I recommend adaware & spybot search and destroy. Both are free programs. The first time I ran them I was AMAZED at the junk they both found and cleaned up on my computer. You can use google to search for them..I would type in "adaware free download" and same for other one. NettyB [NettyB]
Hi Thanks Netty, I will look for them. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi ellie333. How are you? I would definitely get an external disk-drive and put any large picture files, BitMaps, MPegs etc on it. Also backup any important files. At least if the computer does give up then you have a backup! I have noticed that using Skype, ICQ, MSN and the other messenger services also slows up my computer and that the computer takes a long time to start as they compete for pole position. The broadband speed can also be a bother. Get somebody to look at how much processing capacity you are using - you may need extra memory. If the problem persists I would get a new computer. They are unbelievably cheap nowadays although the new operating systems and graphic functions seem to be slowing them down. All the best. UMart [umart13]
Hi Umart, Glad you feeling good too and I'm so pleased my computer is back up to speed it was very frustrating when it was so slow. Ellie :D [ellie333]
lolthis always happen to me? and my advice to you is uninstall many software you use may be your computer memory is full or try you to reformat your computer after that your computer runnings past? this is really happen to me when i open my fire fox or internet explorer you wait you 2 minutes before you see the internet explorer or fire fox its so slow of my computer? my friends said to me that your computer is so many install program? uninstall of some your program become fast your computer? or may be in your connection of internet? what is your using internet dial up or dsl may your using internet is so slow? try you call your internet provider? tell to them that your internet connection is so slow? or may be repair and unplug your internet connection after that open your computer? i slow again try you call your internet provider? that all i can help to you friends happy postings [ken18neth]
Hi Ken, It does seem to have resolved now and is back up to speed. I have broadband which is fast anyway but I will go through and get rid of a lot of unessary stuff to speed up even more. Thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi ellie, I'm sorry about that..I have no clue really, since today and yesterday, I have no problem with my connection..I was able to work smoothly with no problems at all! maybe it's just your connection and wish any computer expert here will be sharing you their expertise! [checapricorn]
That's great ellie, I know we have a lot of friends here who are expert in computer!..I wish I'm part of it..LOL!lolhappy [checapricorn]
Hi, this is my first response to mylot, say hello to everybody, well met. About this headache, I recommend to try a software-Wopti Utilities, which is very famous in China and actually very useful. You can download it from http://en.wopti.net/ and this edition now is free to try. BTW, I can find some totally free chinese editions (partly cracked edition) but haven't find totally free english edition :( ... [xiangfaganbei]
Hi Thank you for honouring my discussion as your first response ever. May I wish you a very big warm welcome and hope that you will have a lot of fun here, keep posting, keep responding but most of all have fun. I have managed to get it running back up to speed now so but will check this site out that you mention. Ellie :D [ellie333]
I was going to try and give you some advice Ellie but I cheated and checked to see if you had fixed it and you had so I will just say Well Done! Hugs xxx [mummymo]
Lol see I was even late for this scoop! I wasn't at the m&s sale - no money to save! You aren't stupid scoop just a man and no logic! xxx [mummymo]
Run a virus check, do disk fragmenter, remove unnecessary software [ravusri1]
Thank you very much [ravusri1]
Have you tried disc defragment??? [skinnychick]
Hi Yes Skinnychick, I did that and my computer does now seem to be up to speed again, I also cleared and deleted a few unused programs too. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Your anti virus may be slowing down your computer. It has happened in my computer sometimes.Better check your anti virus out.I also think that using some software you can defragment your hard drives it helps you to speed up your computer and if all goes into vain, would you mind to format your computer? [bumba1988]
Hi I have defragmented and this does seem to have given more space. I will check anti virus though. What does formatting mean? Sorry told you I was a novice LOL. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Try to use registry cleanup software. [vishalravale]
Thank you vishalravale, I will do this. Ellie :D [ellie333]
hey..ill tell u..delte all the not so important stuff from ur pc...and clearn ur temporary files..that speeds up ur comp like badly..and it the hardware semnse..jus get more RAM.. [cyberkunal]
hehehe..but since m a computer enigneer..thats y had told u...if u are like gettin very slow..and if u dnt upgrade,..jus clear the files which u dont need from ur comp and defragment ur comp...it will be as smooth as it was earlier :) [cyberkunal]
Post your PC Specs maybe your Ram is too slow... try to manage your program startup go to tun then type msconfig and manage your programs in start up. [kakashi288]
Hi Kakashi, Thank you for this advice. I will do this but it does seem to have sorted itself for some reason. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hey it depends upon the system configuration you are having. Are you having the proper configuration of the RAM? It is responsible for the speed of the computer. If you are finding the slow speed even after having the sufficient RAM then it can be due to some of the virus infections to the file so in that case you need to scan the system with the updated version of the anti virus. Even if after doing all this you find it slow then you should reinstall the windows that will surely help you. Moreover if you have installed any additional theme to the default window just uninstall the theme.I hope these things gonna help you. [amitpuri]
Thanks amitpuri, I have uninstalled some programs and deleted a lot of files plus defragmented and shut down and restarted and it does now seem to be up and running at full speed again. I appreciate you taking the time to give me advice on this issue. Ellie :D [ellie333]
If what the other mylotters have suggested isn't working yet, why don't you try for an upgrade.... Have an expert take a look at your PC because you know every once in a while you have to have it checked... [pearlsychiu]
Hi Thank you, yes it is probably due for an upgrade anyway but I have managed to get it back up to speed now but thanks for your advice. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Hi, i think you clear temp and reduce starup files and if possible just format the computer and check whther it is ok. anyway have happy my lotting. best of luck. [ameenp]
Hi ameenp, I have done this and problem does seem to have resolved, thank you for your advice, rally appreciated. Ellie :D [ellie333]
Are you using dial up connection? My computer was very slow when we had this connection and sometimes it made the computer messed up specially when i visited several sites at the same time but after we switched to DSL its getting better and faster. [msedge]
Oh yes you are very right!I am glad we had switched too!happy [msedge]
You know what Ellie? I've been myLotting all day. I do other stuff too but it's been predominately myLot. This is about the 10th hour I've been at it. I've only manage to respond to 11 discussions. I've made a few comments as well but that's all I've managed in all that time.I'm on dial-up and answering from my email alerts ....I find myLot very slow for me all the time. You may need to run scans for gremlins in your pc slowing you down. Do you have Spybot? How about Avast? I have both and they are very handy. Spybot finds lots of things that shouldn't be on my computer. They are both free. [MsTickle]
Hi MsTickle, Well you do very well on dial up even with it being so slow, at least you can get online eh! Ellie :D [ellie333]
when something like this happen to me i go to my browser options than i choose the option delete cookies and histories and temporary files than i delete all of it than going to the run box give it this order msconfig than i get section that manage which program run auto in my pc when it start up and clear all of it than i make restart . this make it very fast and very easy to work on it after that . [thestar]
Hi Thank you, I really appreciate your advice, I have done this and it is now running back up tp speed. Ellie :D [ellie333]
have a full computer anti virus scan. if you have outdated version, get the updates from the net. otherwise, uninstall and install a new anti virus. if still , no benefit, add another 512 mb extra ram memory to your system. this will solve the problem. bye and take care. [painkiller77]
Hi Panikiller, yes I am on the mend again now thank you. Ellie :D [ellie333]
