Put Cactus In Front Of The Computer

I heard that cactus is able to absorb some radiation that comes out from computer, so I was suggested to put a flowerpot of cactus in front of the computer, to reduce the radiation brought by computer, which might be harmful for the body health... I did listen to this advice, gave it a try, and I did feel less dry after having the cactus on my table, so I think it does it work as they say, hehe... Therefore I also suggest all of Mylotters here, to try it some time, then you'll experience the result... Good day and happy computing... :)

thats interesting, I have never heard of that before, a few weeks ago I bought two himilayan Salt Rocks which is supposed to do the same thing, I bought one big one you put a globe in which works as the globe warms it and I also bought a small one you put a tea candle in...I think they are lovely. [lilaclady]

this is the second time ive heard about "radiation" from the computer. where are you guys hearing this info? please provide a link... ive never heard anything about radiation from a computer, or studies about the possibility of radiation..so i would very much like to know. [CinderInMySoul]
I read it in a forum.I think it was earneasyonline something like that. But haven't tried yet. [ralph12345abc]

For real?. I've got to some research on this if it's true or not.. [steivene2hot]

I have never seen a medical bulletin about the ills cause by radiation from monitors. In the early days of computers during the DOS days where monitors are just monochrome meaning just green, white or amber. There circulated this gossip that there is a danger from radiation off monitors during those times the sales of glass filters, the glass placed in front of monitors, was a huge hit. Well it dies down and a you probably notice too those glass filters are never bought these days. I think those are just myths that never been proved till this day. [ferdzNK]

wow...I have never heard of that before, i think,i will put a cactus front of the computer too...if you are really right... THANKS for sharing this information... coolcoolcool [vehla_jatt_4_u]

This is the first time I heard this info. It is very helpful for those computer addict, I think I should try it first to believe it... I will look for other info regarding this topic. So far i don't know if i will going to believe this, since I never tried it before. Aside from that no written explanation or further investigations yet that may prove this.. Anyway thank you for sharing... It will be very helpful once its proven.. [rochelleRN]

I have read that before but didn't tried. What if I fell aspleep here and end up getting cactus on my headlol.I spend around 10 hra on computer and prefer antiglare than that.I'll give it a try when I buy a cactus. [ralph12345abc]

Radiation from what? The pc case or the monitor? Sorry, i dont understand what you mean at ll. If you mean electromagnetic waves, then pc is the least you can be afraid of. There are wireless networks all around us that cause much bigger problems. Plus, i dont understand how cactus could help...and more important, how can you feel the difference? You might have eliminated one source of radiation, but you still have a hundred more around you. Sorry if i sound doubtful, but i am electronics engineer and what you have said sound weird.confused [makatas]

that's a nice idea.. I should definitely try it. I sit around 13 to 14 hours at least in front of the computer at the stretch. [ravusri1]

I worked in front of a computer (CRT) for 10 hours a day for 21 years at my jobsite. It never caused any ill effects in all that time. I think people are just getting way to paranoid about everything in the world today. [nova1945]

That's quite interesting..confused thank you for sharing. Cheers..happy [roshand8]
welcome roshand8 :) [lindazhao333]

i have heard that for sevaral years, but i don't have a try,it's really?i am afraid to be hurt by cactus ,if it does work as you said ,i will have a try.thank you very much, [jakesun]
Hi jakesun, it will only hurt when you use your finger to touch its needles, haha.... :) [lindazhao333]

Get a quartz crystal. They do this too, and look really pretty. Also you won't need to water it, just clean it every so often. [starchild2230]
Hi starchild2230, ya you are right, no need to water that much, otherwise it might would harm the flower instead, haha... :) [lindazhao333]

What a wonderful discovery, is that really true? well I must buy many cactus to put on my table. Thank you so much on your informative post. [choiocampo]

I'm not sure whether it's really working. But it's good to put something greenery on beside your desktop. It will help your eyes. When you tired looking at your desktop, take few minutes looking at the greenery feature, it will good for your eyes too. [meiyeec511]

lol Hi lindazhao333, My word I have never heard of that confusedif you can only see my cactuslol its very big and wo't go on my coffee table where I work, I use a Laptop. Tamarafireheart [tamarafireheart]

Even if it doesn't help with radiation from the computer, it is always good to have lots of green plants around. It helps clean the air and give the body more oxygen. I love having any kind of plant around. As for the radiation, I have never heard anything about it but if anyone has a link to information regarding it, I would be very interested in reading it. [ldybgsgma99]

Good idea, even i will try. Am not sure about the radiation part but your cactus is certainly performing photosynthesis and giving out oxygen that is good for your health. Good day and good health. [karjyo]

Never heard of this but I will give it a try. Always look for ways to improve my environment and health. Stay tuned for results. [benhilo]

Putting a cactus in front of my computer monitor is a great idea, lindazhao333! It would definately protect me from radiation because I would not be using the computer as I would be afraid of being stuck by the cactus! [Transdisc]

lindazhao333 whatever your source, there is no danger from your computer as it is not infront of you anyway, if you mean monitor no theres no radiation or whatever from it. someone is jerking you around. I would not want a cactus anywhere close to me as I would likely just get some darned stickers. If there was any real danger from our monitors we would really have heard about it big time. I do not believe everything I hear or read on the internet. [Hatley]

I don't know that cactus can absorb radiation. I have a screen protector on my computer and it does the job of absorbing the radiation. But having a cactus is not a bad idea, especially if it's for the best. I will surely try it. Thanks for the wonderful info. [katkat]

I never heard of that but Im sure to give it ago.. thanks [lost4eva]

First time I've heard of this. Lol. I will try reading up more about it. I might find out something more interesting. [joliefille]

Well this is interesting. It's the first time I heard of it. Yup I think I'll give it a try and I hope that my eyes won't hurt that much from using the computer. I just hope they allow plants here in our office confused [magojordan]

Yes,but it's easy to die.One colleague of mine bought a cactus weeks ago,but it died. So,we just plan some green easy-to-grow grass in our office.I heard that put some bananas around PC,they can absorb some radiation too.And then you could eat them.hehe [sanzi1201]
Hi cactus doesn't need that much water, mine also died one time, coz my colleague was so helpful to me, she gave the flower bit a lot water, that it died coz of that, haha... And I think it needs sunshine, hehe... And it's quite a good idea also to put bananas, coz you can eat it, haha... :) [lindazhao333]

hi there i have never heard of this before but i will endevour to go & get one to put in front of my computer. thanks for the great advise. latas lamb101 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo [lamb101]

Interesting, I will have to give this a try, but of course off to do some reasearch on it first... [gtdonna]

Thank you it is a wonderful suggestion for those who work on the computer for long hours.Cheers! [daffodil1949]

Try looking at the facts www. fda. gov/ cdrh/ radhealth/products/tvvdt .html I've placed spaces in the above so the filters won't snag the link out of my post. Copy the above to your browser's address bar and remove the spaces or type it in without the spaces. And yes it is true plants of all kinds do absorb a certain amount of the radio spectrum but I am not sure what studies have been done with PC usage. Unless you are using a very old monitor your risk of any exposure is low. There doesn't seem to be a direct link of cancer from household appliances but some people may experience other health problems. The screen filters mostly remove the harsh glare that produces eye strain. Also when your eyes are exposed to RF (Radiowave Frequency)the result causes the fluid and tissue of the eyes to heat up. This can lead to greater pressures inside the eyes that can lead to damage or degenerative disease of the eyes. Some of the signs of RF exposure are dry red eyes and headache centered around the eyes. Exposure and absorbtion rates are not always cumulative but damage resulting from exposure may be. I am a licensed ham radio operator and as part of the license exam we must learn about RF safety and exposure limits. Power level, length of time and distance from the source all play a role in safe or unsafe exposure levels. Some people are more sensitive to different parts of the radio spectrum then others. To minimize exposure to electromagnetic fields or any other part of the radio spectrum sit as far back from you monitor as possible. Adjust fonts to a larger size to accomplish this if possible. Avoid or limit your distance from household electrical appliances while they are running to reduce your exposure to electromagnetic or radiation fields. Minimize eye strain by taking your eyes off the monitor every 15 to 30 minutes and focus on an object 10 to 20 fet away. Just as streching and changing position relieves muscle strain a fatigue the muscles that focus the lenses of the eyes need to get a break too. If you have experienced discomfort, dry red, achy eyes then try some of the above and see if things improve. If you have been here on My LOT reading all the responses to this discussion now is a good time to practice that refocus and give your eyes a break.:-) [mjhicks]
Hi mjhicks, thanks for the information... Have a good day... :) [lindazhao333]

loli like to try but i have no cactus in my house? when i have cactus i try what you saying, how did you know that are you sciencetis your so very high i.Q because you know that or your study this? or may be your a teacher good day to and happy postings? [ken18neth]
Hi ken18neth, I am not a teacher at the moment, not scientist either, haha... I just hear from some people, and i tried it, then found it's good, that's it, hehe... Have a good day... :) [lindazhao333]

I'll try to do this one. Thanks for the info! [purple_2387]
Welcome purple_2387... :) [lindazhao333]

It's a good idea! Many of us sit before our computer for many hours so we should care of our healthy. It's really harmful to our healthy if we sit before it for too many hours. [lishiwei]
Hi lishiwei, ya every day we sit quite a number of hours in front of computer, better to have some protection... :) [lindazhao333]

its really interested information, dear friend. and its good news for the people who spend their times mostly infront of computer as like us,lol i just wonder if i can put the cactus pot safely in front of my computer without annoying from my kittieslol [plumwish07]
well, my cats like to playing around, including in my keyboard, monitor, pc, windows. thats why i have any doubt, will put cactus pot infront of the monitor will be save enough from their naughtiness lol [plumwish07]

I've never heard about this. I've heard a lot about radiation and cell phones, but never anything about PCs. [jsmith12]

Oh very good suggestion! Thanks for that . I didn't heard ever so I will try this at once.Mylotter should do this because they use computer more and more and in my case It must be compulsory. I belive you suggestion because green plant absorb not only readiation but also co2 and moisture too which is more in the room. Have a good day. [kisanchhantyal]

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try it. [vishalravale]
