Question About Sharing Computers

My Husband works in AZ, but he's coming to see me next month. The only computer I have is my laptop. When I saw him in AZ, he had his desktop, and I had my laptop, but in Caada we only have my laptop. Will it be a problem if he checks his MyLot stuff from my computer, or will they possible close down both our accounts if he does that? Jut wondering.

From what I understand as long as he logs in as himself, you won't have any problems. Doesn't seem like MyLot tracks IP addresses at all. They are just against sharing paypal addresses. [sedel1027]
Good Luck! We actually have 1 PC per family member because we don't share well LOL [sedel1027]

No, it's no problem at all. For the first 3-4 months I was on myLot (this was back in the Dark Ages) I had to do all my posting from a shared computer. The computer owner also had a myLot account, and we never had a problem. [myklj999]
Good to know. Thanks!! We both have our own separate paypal accounts. My husband and I don't believe in "joint accounts" LOL [danishcanadian]

i guess..there will be no problem at all..since im sharing my computer with my daughter as well and sometimes my brother if he visited us....and nothing happened..atleast they have their own paypal account.. that what matter most here in this site.. [vanities]
Thank you. That is really really good to know. [danishcanadian]

Just make sure you log out after using mylot. My husband and I both have mylot accounts and once I used his computer and he didn't log out so I posted in his name. [ZephyrSun]
OH yeah, we're careful to log out. Thanks for the reminder though. Having two totally different icons, it's not hard for us to ell if one of us has left ourselves logged in. [danishcanadian]

I would think there should be no problem as there are people on here who have more than one family member living in the same household who are Active members here in myLot. You would just need to make sure that when one gets off of here, you would need to make sure and log off so that you would not be posting from each others accounts, and everything should be OK. [KrauseHome]

he logs out of your account and into his account, does what he has to do and then logs out so you can log in. no accounts should get closed down. [lizzieluvsu]

No, there is a couple (cowboy something) don't remember the name, and his finance, they share myLot and often comment on each others discussions. You should be fine, btw, what's your hubby's myLot name? Is it possible I was talking to your sweetums and didn't even know it? [gitfiddleplayer]

hello danishcanadian, i am not sure if someone already respond to you regarding this matter but i would like to share to you the same dilemma i had two months ago. hope it helps. have a good one! jairgirl: hello, i am trying to ask my friend and my hubby to join here in mylot for the sake of "my referrals". so my questions are. 1. the fact that i am living with my hubby and though we have our own computer will it be a violation knowing we have the same IP? 2. my friend comes visit sometimes and she dont have her own computer beside the one she have at work, i am trying to figure out if i can share my computer with her (she will have her own account and paypal account as well), will it be a ground for my membership termination? i have read the guidelines over and over again and didnt see the term that i cannot share my computer nor my IP to another user provided we are not sharing an account or me making another account. so, i dont want to ask them to do something and backfired on me in the end as i am loving this place and dont want to be terminated coz of those issues. hoping for your kind clarification. thanks a lot! myLot_ContactUs: This is all perfectly ok and it does not go against our rules and guidelines. We just ask that if you are all using the same computer that you have separate accounts and separate paypal/moneybookers accounts. Your accounts may be monitored closely for potential abuse. Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. myLot Staff [jairgirl]

myLot won't, but clixsense, adbux, etc., will. I thought about that the other day. I will be doing a lot of exploring of Guelph while I'm up there and you're sitting at the Second Cup. I've got to look up my friend's name whose a professor of environmental Science at UofG. [Vladilyich1]
You think I plan on sitting here all day when YOU'RE around? We'll only hve TWO WEEKS, and I want to spend them together!! Anyting you want to do, we can do togeher. I'll be happy to explore with you. I love you. Love Your Favourite Wife [danishcanadian]

Hi friend, I think there is no need to worry about this.Everything would be done in a positive way.Just enjoy with your husband till he leaves you. Have a nice weekend. [sudhajosyula50]
Thank you Sudha. I plan on it. [Vladilyich1]

Hi. I sure if he signs in with his username and password...his Mylot will work for him...and the same for you - use your name and password. Nadine [Nadinest]
Just make sure that each of you signs out completely before the other logs in. There are a few of my friends that have gotten comments from my husband, instead of from me, when I have gotten in too big of a hurry to check it out. [GardenGerty]

It really is not a problem. Hubby and I are both using the desktop right now as the laptop needs a new cord and our budget prevents it from happening. We have gone back and forth between the laptop and the desktop all along, for almost two years. You guys make it very clear that you are not one person doing two accounts. Is hubby on my friend list? [GardenGerty]

I got this straight from the myLot FAQs for you: My family wants to sign up for an account but we only have one computer. Is it ok for my family to use the same computer? Yes, there can be more than one user that uses the same computer. Please make sure that each user has their own account, as well as their own PayPal or eGold account. Your accounts will be closely monitored due to the potential for abuse. So that answers that! As long as you make sure you're logged in as your right selves and make it clear in your posts which one of you it is then they shouldn't have any reason to give you trouble. [foxyfire33]
Darn it foxy, you beat me to it! I put basically the same thing. If only I would have read the responses before I replied. blush [sacmom]

Well since more than one mylotter can share a computer, than there shouldn't be a problem with your husband accessing his account from your laptop. rasp This is what it says under the FAQ's: "My family wants to sign up for an account but we only have one computer. Is it ok for my family to use the same computer? Yes, there can be more than one user that uses the same computer. Please make sure that each user has their own account, as well as their own PayPal or eGold account. Your accounts will be closely monitored due to the potential for abuse." You can see it for yourself at this link: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq1.aspx#6 I hope this clears up any concern you have! [sacmom]

I think as long as you log out and he logs in it shouldn't be an issue. If you're really worried about it you could contact the mylot administrators and let them know that your account and his will be accessing mylot from the same ip address. [saundyl]

I have no idea. And I would not take any chances. I would write to them and ask. [Yestheypayme2dothis]

That is a good question. I wonder about that too. [ch88ss]

I don't think it will be a problem. He has his own account that was created in a different place and with a different IP. He has his own paypal account that is separate from yours. I really don't think it will be a problem. It's like you having a friend coming over and access his myLot account from your computer, I never heard anyone loosing membership for this. Still if you are worried just write myLot and explain the situation, I think it's the best solution so you won't have to worry when your husband is here. [arkaf61]

No they won't close down your accounts because one of them is his and the other is yours. Doesn't matter if he uses your computer or someone elses, as long as one has signed out where the other can sign in, you'll be just fine. Enjoy your visit!! [CatsandDogs]

Where would there be a problem. You both have E-mail accounts, each open on their own account, wheres the problem. No different to a net/Cafe in the shopping block/mall. HICCUP/ [hiccup]

That would be NOOOOOOOOOO happy [LoudnProud]
how can you be so sure?????????/ [riyasam]

i think when i read the guideline in mylot i understand that you could have many account from the main pc and with the same ip as long as it is not the same accounts and not the same email address and not the same persons and not the same bank account too this the rules here so i think acording to this both of you could open its account with no problem as long as every one have his own data and email address and paypal account . good luck with both of you posting and have a nice time here [thestar]

i do not think so.but one can never tell.its better to b cautious. [riyasam]

there is only one way i can think of, for you to get an answer to that question.that is to send a private message to mylot. [catfish57]

Hi danish, I am not sure about it but I guess if you have different account, it will not be a problem at all! Though, you're sharing pc but you have different profile..One has to log out maybe! I wish someone here can clear this out for you!happyhappyhappy [checapricorn]

They will not close your accounts if he uses your computer to access his mylot account. As long as he signs onto myLot with his own id and password you two should be just fine. I have checked my myLot account using other computers before and had no problems so this will not be a problem. There is nothing to worry about. That is great that he is coming to see you. [kgwat70]

i cant see why they would close both accounts down as you both have different names and diff accounts so i dont think anyone will know any different.. i bet you cant wait till he comes home to you hun, ow now i understand, lol i was wondering what was happening there, i just thought you both where on and going to us all togeter.. big hugs [shelly43]

I was on 2 different computers until I got a friend signed up on her computer. I think if I was willing to be signing in and out all the time, I could do stuff on her computer without a problem, so long as I'm in my own account. I think you guys will be fine. [ElicBxn]

I am sure that it will not be a problem. because me & my brother has 2 seperate mylot accounts.we share the same computer.when I log out from my account my brother log in into his account.mylot don't track ip address .it is like yahoo mail.that is once you are logged out , it is ready for another account. [keya2468]

i have the same problem , becasue i sometimes come online from the cafe and there are other users also there who use mylot from the same computer. so i have never actulally opened it from a computer who already has a mylot account. i always thought of asking this question, but good thing you did now. so what it is now?? you got any reply as in yet?? [cyberkunal]

no it shouldn't be a problem, he is just logging in at a different location, [winterose]

I believe you are perfectly safe. Just logout and clear cookies would be great. [lordwarwizard]

Something new that MyLot seems to be doing is allow you to select not have your IP address (which comes from the ISP) be logged in for your computer. It allows a public computer to be used by anyone including multiple users for MYLot so you can log into your account without problems. It also prevents someone else to use your MyLot identification if you are using a public computer. You shouldn't have any problems sharing a computer to log into two different accounts. Just try to remember if you both save your user name and passwords to login both of them will come up on a drop menu for the login screen. [mrghill]

i BELIEVE theres no problem with that. you have different username i.e different account. Its ok. [WATARIKENJI]

I am pretty sure it is okay to use the same computer. I have heard where there are husbands and wives here that are members and work from the same computer. They even signed up from the same computer, but I think they had to email mylot and tell them they were two seperate people and working from the same computer, to get their permission. I have worked on my nephews computer and posted in mylot, on several occassions and he is a member with mylot too and there was never anything said to me about it, from mylot. I think they would tell you if it was a problem, a warming maybe. But then myabe not. Now that three months have passed since you posted this discussion, is everything okay with you both working mylot from one computer? Has mylot said anything to you about it? Are you still both active here? I think I have seen you around since this discussion was posted but I am not positive that I have. I hope everything is okay and you are still here, my friend. [chrislotz]

No, just make sure that you each sign out when your through. Hubby and I have went through times when we shared a pc b/c we couldn't afford two of them. Thankfully we both have our own now. ~~MY OWN PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF** [twoey68]

Hi danishcanadian When you login mark the public computer box. when you finish just logout. [zeevfld]

i do not think that will be a problem as long as he is logging in his name but i do not have any personal experiences. happy mylotting.happy [riyasam]

I think MyLot would prefer abstinence when it come to sharing computers. If you do choose to share a computer make sure it is with someone you care about and that you wear protection. LOL! [mrghill]
