I have LENOVA R61 laptop with 1GB RAM and 120 GB hard disk. i am running VISTA business on it. I feel one GB RAM is just sufficient for normal operation. The speed is not excellent , i may change it shortly.
What is configuration of your LAPTOP/COMPUTER? are u happy with its performance? or u plan to change it shortly?

If I had the extra funds CommonMan, I would like a new Acer..I saw the most beautiful laptop the other day on sale for only 399 dollars at Radio Shack here in the USA. I would have nearly done anything for it..my laptop is very good, it is an Acer, but I just would love a new model, not necessary, just being greedy! [OceanTiara]
Thanks for sharing [common_man]
i have insipiron dell 1545 with dual core configration i am pretty happy with my laptop!! [aatif_shaikh45]
yes dell's insipiron are known for their good performance. I think dell Laptop are best value for money. [common_man]
I have a ACER computer desk top, I like my computer very much, I brought it at walmart 4 years ago, when I was sick with cancer, my lap top I had a Dell, gave out on me so I wanted another computer, with all the parts, I went to Circuit City when it was going out of business, you had to buy all the parts there saperately, I didn't wan to do that,I found the kind of computer I wanted, at walmart and I got it and it has been working great ever since, and if something happens to my computer, I have a niece who can build and fix computers, that was one of the main reasons, I wanted a desk top.happy [notlistening2]
yes DESKTOP has its own importance, even i have a desktop in addition to a laptop [common_man]
I recently purchased a Dell Studio Laptop with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. I am absolutely pleased with the performance of my laptop. I've also have one Desktop PC with 4 GB RAM (before upgrading it was 1 GB) and 2 HDD's of 250 GB and 160 GB. If you want to better performance of your laptop then please upgrade your RAM. Since you'he a 120 GB HDD don't store any big size files in ur boot drive (normally 'C' drive) and don't store anything on your desktop, as the icons which are saved on desktop occupies a lot of RAM and PC will run slowly. [vcreddy]
thanks friend, useful advice indeed. [common_man]
i have a notebook laptop, 2gb ram,160 gb HD sata, windows 7, so far the performance is fast and great i can play games here.. next month my laptop will be spending its 1 year anniversary. [Charm21]
Thanks for advise [common_man]
Mine is Toshiba satellite l300 1f8 with 4GB RAM, 2.16GHz intel dual core cpu, 250GB HDD - works like a charm with Windows Vista and as well with Ubuntu Linux. It's really good machine for me. [trohichko]
Toshiba Satellite is good name in laptop. with 4GB as RAm it should be satisfying experience [common_man]
Not really satisfied with my graphic card and memory storage. It seems that no matter how big you get for your memory or how advance your graphic card is, it will be outdated in a year. That is too fast! It is quite a chore and a waste of money to keep upgrading such hardwares. [stormragetz]
agree with u friend [common_man]
I have an Apple iMac. I've said it to so many others that I will NEVER go back to pc! I'm a photographer and a designer and Mac's are just absolutely wonderful computers with tons of storage. It has never given me any trouble and the startup is faster than lightning. With all of the pc's I've ever had, it took forever just to startup. I love apple and will recommend it till the day I die :) [lovescreed]
yes, though a bit costly apple imac are most impressive machines i have ever seen. I wish to own one, some day. [common_man]

mt system is a very is a very old one . it was bought some 8 years back . my system configuration is 80 gb hard disk, 1 gb ram (i updated it 2 years back), pentium 4 processor , os is windows xp . i am happy with my system performance considering the fact that it was about 8 years and doing k . it cant support big games and sometimes multiprocess but i think that its good for use and i still find no major problems with it . but i am planning to upgrade it since it has become very old . [dilipmiester]
Yes, WINDOWS XP was one of the most stable OS from Microsoft, and good performance wise also. I have same configuration for my Desktop [common_man]
dude my pc is not latest but its still awesome and get rid of vista it sucks........ [blackmagic_rol]
yes, I think VISTA was the worst thing to happen ever to MICROSOFT OS [common_man]
I have an assembled one with 4gb memory Amd Athlon II x2 (Dual core) 250gb HDD and 256mb on-board graphics card (nvidia), I have installed fedora12. At present there are problems it's working smoothly.... [arun175]
thats good. I think AMD processors are as powerful as Intel if not more. [common_man]
i do not like my configuration... its age old and i gotta change it really soon... system memory is 512 MB.. Asus mother board... with 80 GB hard disk capacity... CRT monitor.. i Have to change it asap... [thesaiyanprince]
I had a desktop, which i sold off few days back. [common_man]
Well it is starting to show its age now, and I've been meaning to splurge on a new desktop for a while now. It takes twice as long now to execute even the most simple of commands, and doing too many things at once causes frequent crashesthumbdownthumbdown [MrKennedy]
hope u r doing tuning of your desktop from time to time. [common_man]
My Compaq has been running for almost 6 years, and its performance still meet my expectations. The computer originally had a 60G HDD, due to the HDD defect, I was able to change it within the service warranty, and they gave me a 80G for replacement. I also added 500M ram on top of the 1G internal ram, and things were getting much better. The XP running on the machine is fast enough for me, I also used some software to speed up the processes. The battery still have about 4 hours of charge, and I have placed a crystal-type passive cooling mat underneath the computer to reduce heat, and prolong the life of components. I have no plan to change it, as it is still functioning perfectly. I don't really want to create more wastes, as many electrionics got throw away and ended up in the landfill, without a proper recycle system they are going to do more harm in their afterlife, and we should do what we can to reduce those wastes. [xenobane]
Hi, XP will give better performance then VISTA. Thanks for sharing [common_man]
I don't remember the specs of my laptop, but I know I could look it up. I'm leasing it right now and for what I need it to do, its working out perfectly fine. I've had it for several months, just under a year okay a little over half a year, but still I've had it for quite a long time. And once I pay it off, I own it. So I'm happy about that. And, for the amount of use its getting and what I use it for, its working better then expected seeing as its not brand new. [kaylachan]
Hi friend, nice to learn that you are happy with your laptop. [common_man]
I am extremely satisfied with my macintosh lately. I don't stress it with games or so, but anything I throw at it, it takes up the courage and delivers top notch performance, anytime! [santhosbaala]
Thats wonderful indeed. [common_man]
My brother has a laptop which I use. It is HP something. I don't know how it is named but it is running smoothly and the internet is fast [mimiang]
Its nice to learn you are happy with speed at which internet works on the laptop u use. [common_man]
My father gave me a 13-inch white macbook running on Mac OS X leopard version 10.5.8 and has 2,13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB Ram. It's a gift for my 18th birthday. I am having no problem with it at all. Well at first, I thought it would be hard to switch from PC to mac, but then I find it really easy and the first couple of days that I have been using it, it felt like I've been using it for years. The only thing I don't really like about my laptop is that it has poor graphics so I can't run big games here like Sims 3 because it will just lag. But I mainly use this laptop for internet, typing, and making music and I cannot be more happier with it. [paulamaula]
Hi friend, Mac machines are good in performance, and known for its attributes. Its nice that you have such a good machine with you. [common_man]
wow you are a lucky guy having that laptop before me.. no i am not satisfied with the performance of my computer [qamarep]
Hi friend, yes i am lucky, no doubt about it. Hope you will get the computer that satisfies your needs sooner than later. [common_man]
I'm happy with my computer, however as average speeds change i may feel the need to upgrade or buy new parts, because i have my own custom computer. Too bad it's not compatible with overclocking, otherwise I could've had around 3 GB of ram at the moment. [dewero]
Hi friend, yes, whatever resources you have in your computer, you always feel like adding some more, isn't it? Hope you will add the things yu want to add sooner. [common_man]
Good evening common_man! I have a notebook, an Acer AspireOne. I like it very much because it is small and lightweight. I need that because I carry it a lot. But I wish it had a greater performance. At first it was OK but with a few programs I installed, it started to be slow and give me some problems. My lap has 1GB RAM and 150 GB on the hard disk, Its OK for me, I don't complain about that. Thou, because it is small, the processor is Atom and I know there are better ones! Well, I'm not planning on changing it so far. But you never know how much is it going to stay alive. You never know with technology! Best regards common_man. Keep posting always and forever, Libna. [libnawilkerson]
Upgrading RAm and tuning your laptop at regular interval, may give you better performance! Hope you are carrying out tuning at regular intervals. [common_man]
hi common, i have an HP pavilion and it is now around more than 2 years old, running vista home premium, physical memory 1 GB, AMD 1.8GHz and hard disc of 160 GB and it is running fine! gets sluggish a little if i play games but i am no more into them now, games i find a waste of time, rather give that time to someone else whistle or come here online, good day. niceday [voldrox]
Hi friend, I also find that playing games on PC/laptop is waste of time, particularly when there are so many better things that can be done on PC/laptop. [common_man]
Hai.... I have acer aspire with 1 GB RAM, 120 GB hard disk but I am still using XP ( a little bit slow if you play 3D game), this laptop uses AMD turion processor. I want to change it to Quad core for more speed, but It want to have lighter laptop, fashionable, affordable. [nangisha]
Quad core processor based laptop, will give you performance beyond compare, just ensure you have matching RAM [common_man]
i have a toshiba amd athlon x2 pro 1.9, 3 gb ram, 250 gb hd and running both debian lenny 5.0 and win 7. It works perfectly and i am happy with the service its given me so far. I hope to upgrade to superb after around one year from now. [dodosuens]
NIce to learn you are happy with your laptop. Toshiba enjoy good image in market too. [common_man]
I used to have ACER and it happened in a two year time to buy two hard drives. Now it seems to be working fine but the CD-ROM has stopped working. I bought a new ASUS laptop and want to test and see if ASUS is more worth it than ACER. [dobstar]
ACER is good brand, your piece must have some problem, bad luck! AUS i am not aware, Let me know how is its performance! [common_man]
I really hate my computer , it`s not ancient but it`s still quite old , i bought it in 2006 if i remember right , so it`s 4 years old and pretty slow and annoying at times... I really need to get my parents to get me a new one ... In fact , that`s a reason why i joined this site , to make some extra money and show them that i`m actually working for it tho i`m already sure that this won`t help the actual thing , i just want to show them that i wanna help :) Good luck [GoldenWing]
YEs four year is good enough time to get fedup with performance of existing computer, because day by day memory hungry graphics reach applications are developping at very fast rate, draining computer resources. Hope you will get new one sooner. [common_man]
Well, I am using a Toshiba laptop with a 2.5GB of Ram. I am satisfied with its performance. It used to have a 1 GB of ram prior to upgrading it. My operating system is windows 7 and I do find it great. So far, I have no plans of changing my laptop nor the specs since I am very much satisfied with it.happy [jpso138]
You have excellent package as your computing resource, no wonder, you don't plan to change! [common_man]
When we first bought our computer, it is definitely enough. With time, it seems to get slower. There will be too many things of the C Drive that makes the computer to slag. So, once a while remove some of the operating systems you are not using. That will loosen new capacity for use. Defrag from time to time. [jonjee0203]
Thanks for practical advise, friend. [common_man]
Yep my computer right now is assembled by my options it is 2gb of ram 512 video, core 2 duo. I don't really buy branded desktop pc where in I have to change my specs to fit to the available specs they have. I really prefer assembled desktop PCs. I'm quite shock to hear that you are running vista on a 1gb ram that is like making an ant carry a book. I might exaggerating but vista is suited for rams 1gb up you should use Windows xp or Windows 7 because Vista is really really heavy. My sister had an acer laptop with a bundled vista. she had a 2gb and for me it was really slow. I adviced her to revert back to windows xp. I would really recommend you to change your os. In terms of picking laptops or desktops I always always do a research. on what is the latest specs and what laptop brand is know for durability and the type of OS i would use. You should always do that so that you won't be dissatisfied with your pc choice. [scaflone8]
Hi friend, Thank you very much for your valuable advice, I am sure, it will help me a lot. [common_man]
I have a latop with 1.7 GHZ dual processor and 2 GB of memory and it is acceptable. My desktop is faster however. It has 3GHZ single processor and 3GB of memory. happy_Derek [derek_a]
THanks for posting Happy mYlotting [common_man]
If I am a millionaire, I would buy THE best. Still, with my current finance, the laptop I got is quite satisfying. Sure, there are time I'm stressed out, but those moments are few than the moments where the laptop actually give me good services. So, yeah. [iocustheoda]
Thanks for posting, Happt Mylotting [common_man]

I have a COMPAQ C700 series it's a dual core, 1gb memory, 160gb HDD, 256 VGA memory, and running Win7, I'm not quite happy with the performance especially when It comes to graphic intensive application like photoshop, its because of the VGA card I know since laptop VGA can't be upgraded, but when it comes to other things like browsing, chatting, doing some office documents, watching movies,I don't have problem with my laptop. [m1kong]
Thanks for response, Happy Mylotting [common_man]
Once I have bought a computer/laptop or notebook, even if I am not satisfied with the performance, I have to bear with it for at least 3 years. I choose it myself. I can only blame myself for getting one sub-standard product. At most, I may do some upgrade. [whyaskq]
Thanks for Posting, Happy Mylotting [common_man]
I have an ASUS X80Series 3GB RAM (planning to add another 2 gig ram on soon) 160GB HD Nvidia GEForce 7000m. I'm pretty much satisfied with it, but I still want to upgrade for some applications like adobe AE and premiere really eats those RAM. Also, I'm a little bit of a gamer, having a laptop with its own VidCard is ok with me :) [chiepao]
Thanks for Posting. Happy Mylotting [common_man]
I have a HP pavilion desktop with an AMD athlon dual core processor running at 2.4 or 2.8 ghz I think. It's the 4400 series I think. I also have vista and I gig of ram. My computer performance is good. [satishyadav21]
Nice to learn you are happy with performance of your computer. [common_man]
I have a computer and and it is better in configuration with your lappy. earlier i had p4 with 256mb ram and 40gb hdd. but i upgraded this by core2duo processor and 2gb of ram and 250 gb ram. i am a developer and i am not very satisfied. now in 2 days i am going to buy a new dell laptop with configuration intel i3 processor and 250 gb hdd and 4gb of ram. [1anurag1]
THanks for sharing HappymyLorring [common_man]
i have r60 with 1GB RAM..i use xp,,,VISTA may not be a good choice for me,,,maybe 1GB is not well for vista...but it's ok...enough for my daily using if i don't play much games on it... [chaomengqing]
Its nice that you don't play games n laptop. Even I do not play, i find doing so is waste of time. [common_man]
Well man, My Desktop PC is combined of Pentium D Processor 2.8 Ghz, DDR2 512 RAM, 80 GB Samsung HDD, Sony DVD/CD Combo Drive, Samsung 17" CRT Monitor. Though there's no problem with my PC, I wish to change it with a faster one. I'm trying to save money so that I can get the new one as soon as possible. Have a nice day.happy [faridmadeabillion]
Hey friend, Thank you very much for your friendly support. May Allah bless you.happy [faridmadeabillion]
My computer's Dell Optiplex GX270, 512MB RAM and pentium 4 2600 MHz processor with XP professional... Although the specs don't look that bad, the thing sucks. Really much. I spend a lot of time on my computer every day and it's really annoying that almost all the time it's lagging badly. It takes about half an hour from startup to being able to use the internet. I've never been able to watch a single HD quality YouTube video without the thing severely lagging and almost crashing, high quality videos also cause a lot of trouble... I've tried everything to make it run better, from system cleanup to buying the second fastest internet connection in Finland. And it still sucks :D So I'm far from happy with it's performance... I'd love to buym a new computer but I don't have enough money to buy anything better, even used. So I guess I'll just have to try managing with this one until I get the money to buy something better:( [Vikkyd]
Yeah, I know, thought of that as well. But I rather buy a new one since it is still possible to use this, even though it's pretty annoying sometimes :D But if I don't get money for a new PC soon, I'll upgrade this one for sure, I've had enough of this constant lagging :) [Vikkyd]
