well if you ask me we have really became a kind of slaves to the computer ,we sometimes even forget that we have created the computer ,and as a result solve all are problem using the computer. have you ever thought where this computer and other technology is taking us to?well i tell you it is the "end of the world"we are digging sand for our own grave ae are becoming "slaves of our own creation!"and still we are not realizing it ,computer also causes a serious problem in children that is "addiction" they skip studies to play computer games

Dear friend, If computer is not invented other alternative will be definetly will be invented what about the mobile phones, Televisions and other electronic items they too give path for further inventions. If computer is banned much of medical and life saving methods too will be banned. Most of the analysis and diagonalise are more accurate through computer help. We have become a slave to a lot of things, our jobs, to some people in our lives, it's not just computers. I love my computer, because I am able to make enough money to remain independent. I am one of the few people I know who can lie financially independently without the help of my husband. I am married to him because I love him, not because I need to keep a hand in his pocket. I do enough work with my computer to earn money, then I go and have fun. Technology has gone a long way. First off we don't live in the old modern times using stones or wood or stand in the crowd to bring announcements. Communication abroad is of importance too. First of all, I think that banning the computer is a little odd, because maybe some kids are addicted to it, but how would we write books? How would we send free mail? How would we look things up? You used a computer to write this, so how would we use mylot? Google would be gone. Our government would fail. Our military would die. Our lives would be in havoc. The libraries would have no proper tracks of books. Promotions would falter. Books would have to be written by hand, with no computer, printer, etc. life would be horrible. First off about computers and technology I'm glad I can contact relatives and friends I know in the Philippines. And you saying kids skipping studies? Are you serious? I have nephews and nieces that are 4 to 6 years old getting their homework done and have good skills using a computer getting essays and work done. It's called discipline for your information. well maybe some of us made ourselves slaves of the computer. i have four children and they cant use the computer just for things that are not related to homeworks and projects. i only allow them to sit in front of the pc is they need to do some researches. i allow then to sit at the front of the pc for an hour only. if we know how to control ourselves and to be disipline we wont be slaves of the pc. anything that is too much is bad. it is like smoking and drinking but it is not banned... it is up to us to control ourselves. I think it does not necessarily be banned but be controlled. Banning it would mean that our current world would just halt and would slow down. Meaning the flight controls of airport might have problems maintaining the traffic ways and may get some accidents more often than it was before. The government services may also slow down as the people who line up to demand some service will have to wait further as everything will manual. Even banking also we would have to make to line up when withdrawing as AtM machines will not be available anymore. For us ordinary people we might as well wait from our snail mails too since email will be gone and instant communication is banned already. Equipments in the hospital well maybe we would also be waiting longer as analysis of our lab results is manually typewritten by the nurses as PC is not banned. We will live back in the 50's again. Sorry I dont' see it as an enemy, I see it as a very handly tool to have around, it helps me to llok up a number for where I need to call, as I have poor eye sight and it is easy to just google it and then add the area code and bam there is the number. It gives me time to myself, it gives me entertainment, it draws me a map when I need to go somewhere. Children use it to do homework on, if you are a good parent you don't let your children on it to play games till the homework is done. I do agree children spend too much time on the internet and it is a very dangerous place for young children who don't underrstand the importance of staying away from strangers on here. But if you are a good parent you will know where your child is surfing. i think computers are a form of entertainment, education, research, work, and they let you travel to other countries and chat with other people without action being there. you can sit in your own home and chat with India, Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, etc. i have actually joined various ethnic groups and have picked up words in Italian, German, East Indian, Filipino, Persian, Arabic, etc. people just need to organize their schedule so that they balance their day out with their real life and computer life...get all the work done real life like homework, and then play on the computer for their entertainment time, like 2 hours before bedtime. computers are just another form of entertainment, like tv, reading books, magazines, movies, etc. while others still use it for work and research for homework. I dont think computers should be banned at all.My kids play onthe computer but I monitor their time and they realize that when its time to get off its time to get off. So you want to go back to the days when it took forever to place a phone call because you had to do it through the operator? The days before all the modern gadjets we have. Almost everything is computerised from watches to ovens to cars to hearing aids these days. Heck even TV remotes are miniature computers. I love computers. I remember when they first came out. they took up a whole room and to program them you needed to feed in punch cards with the data. I remember my first computer. I was told that I could never fill up my 20MB hard disk. Hard disks were still new back then. Most people had either One 5 1/4 floppy drive or the high enders had duel 5 1/4 floppys. LOL It took about 2 years and 20MB was antiquated and people were buying 100 MB drives. [TheCatLady]
Oddly enough I just answered another discussion today about computers and robots taking over the world! But I don't think that they should be banned because I see all of the wonderful computer technology that is being used today, especially in medicine, and I think that if we weren't using the technology that is available to us today that there would be a lot more unnecessary deaths. More lives are being saved today than 100 years ago and computers are one very important reason for that. My husband is in the hospital right now and if it weren't for some of the treatments that he is being given, via computer technology, he very well might not be around today and I could not have said good night to him over the phone 5 minutes ago.
