Do you have a need to upgrade any part of your computer? Do you want to do an upgrade just because everyone else has something better? If you have upgraded parts of your computer, did you notice a big difference? I just upgraded the RAM in my computer since it only had 256MB of RAM, which I was told is too small now. I added another 514MB this evening and noticed a huge difference in how quickly my computer moves. I know many people have much more RAM but my computer can only go up to 1 GB.

I definately need to upgrade my computer. Iwould love to get vista but I would also love to add some more ram.Is it expensive to do? Is it hard to do? My computer had been running so slow. My brother said I might need to defrag my computer. If i can figure out how to do it that is!lol [66jerseygirl]
thanks for the help stargazer! I appreciate it.I have windows xp so I will try that and see if it take care of the problem. I have never defragged before and I have had my computer for about 4 or 5 years [66jerseygirl]
Well, the upgrades I need are necessary, not because other people have something better. I really need at least 2.0GHZ processing speed. I would also like to upgrade my video card. The internet is changing fast and I need some of the newer technology to keep up. I used to have dial-up and I know that half the things on the internet don't do well with it. I also used to use Windows 98 and that doesn't work as well nowadays, either. [desertdarlene]
Oh, I use Windows XP now. I used to use Windows 98 and the internet doesn't support that as well. I was using that as an example. The processing speed I have now is 1.5 GHZ which is pretty good, but I need more if I want to do some of the things I want to do. [desertdarlene]
Yes I am using 1GB right now and yes it does really help the computer to run much smoother and faster, and I am looking into getting the second GB and a external harddrive so I can clear mine out and start over but still have things same on another hard drive for future use.I think with all the new programs that are being added and all it is important to upgrade, for alot slower machines just can't run certain programs. [mnflower]
That is very true that the older computers will not able to handle the newer games or software that keeps coming out. Every year the software that comes out takes up more space on the computer. We definitely do need to pay attention to our hard drive space, RAM and processor speed as well as other parts. [kgwat70]
I have a gigabyte of ram in my computer and i find that sufficient. I want to upgrade to a pentium 4 duo as i useually have several mylot pages open at once along with my email page. this causes a slight delay in my processing power. I did ask on a discussion if i can just plug one in but I do not think that i have recieved a response yey. [spasticseagull]
That should be sufficient for just about anything you use your computer for from what I hear. Some people like having more because of games. I usually have several myLot pages open at once too. :-) [kgwat70]
i want to upgrade my RAM and video card coz that's the only thing i need to have a faster speed on my compter! for you kgwat70, 1 GB for a RAM is good... but are you sure that your RAM can only go up to 1 GB only?! i think not! you can only tell that because you don't have enough slot to put another memory right?! [eklok0312]
it's the memory or RAM that i want to be upgraded to my pc. low RAM actually is the cause why computer hang up or runs slowly when too many windows are opened. another upgrade would be the processor itself, a faster one. [ryanphil01]
yes i need to upgrade my computer. i just need to put more ram in there. right now i have 128mb of ram and i would like to have at least 256mb, preferably 1gb. many games these days have high requirements on ram so i cant play them. your computer should be much faster when there is enough ram in it as you have said [darkzzt]
You will definitely need more than 256mb of RAM in your computer, especially if you like playing games. That will definitely not cut it. I love my computer now that is has more RAM. Hope you are able to upgrade yours as well. [kgwat70]
Right now, I am using 128 MB of RAM and I wish to upgrade it to 256 MB. The other thing I want to upgrade is my video card. However, I don't see the immediate need to upgrade because I am not into any activity like playing computer games, watching streaming videos that needs all those quick loading of pages. I am more interested in buying a new set of computer once I have the budget for it. [25th_Stargazer]
You should definitely think about more memory than 256mb as that is not very much and my computer was really slow on that amount. Doing upgrades is definitely not cheap. I rarely play computer games or watch videos and 256mb was still slow. [kgwat70]
I want to upgrade my RAM as i have a 256 one and I want a 512MB one.lest i get a chance to change my monitor , i wud like to change it too as it has become old and fluctuates too much..Again , i want to change my processor as I need a high speed one. [uramit2003]
It sounds like some serious upgrading on your part. You should had the 512mb RAM to your 256 as it will make your computer much faster. Monitors go bad after a while as well. Hope that you are able to upgrade your computer like you want. [kgwat70]
Yes I am using 1GB right now and yes it does raally help the computer to run much smoother and faster ,and I am looking into getting the second GB and a external harddrive so I can clear mine out and start over but still have things same on another hard drive for future use .I think sith all the new programs that are being added and all it is important to upgrade ,for alot slower machines just can not run cer tain programs. [bvb555]
i would sometimes update the softwares in my computer. and i should say that new softwares are much more better than the old ones. and i have just updated my qq, which is a chatting software in china, and i find it has some virus as soon as i install it on my computer. and the presentatives of the software company admitted that their latest software is not yet so desirable. and they would probaly do all they could to make it better. i think some of the softwares in our computer should be updated as soon as possbile. while for others . if it is not so important . why not just let it be what it is like. and let it be leave alone things....................... [nic_knick]
Hello, my computer is not reponding well now a days and i am worried about it. I am using mylot from net cafe right now. I dont know what problem it has. Do you know about computers? I do know but not much! My computer dont respond suddenly and the screen remains there. Means, computer has display but doesnt work. What would be the problem. Is it a motherboard fault? If you know then tell me! [Mithoo]
What happens when you turn your computer on? Does it make any beeping sounds? I was told if you turn your computer on and it beeps and nothing else it could be the motherboard. Did you get a virus or worm from the internet? You may want to have a friend look at it or take to a computer place to find out what is wrong with it. [kgwat70]
I really need to upgrade my operating system. I have Windows ME and really need XP or the new Vista. More memory would be nice too. I have 2 businesses and am finding it difficult to keep them up-to-date with this computer. [bunnylady01]
I would only like to upgrade my memory also. I think I'm currently at either 128 or 256 so I will be needing another 256 or 784MB of memory. Also might need to upgrade from me to xp so that I can use a much larger capacity hd. But I don't think I will be doing any upgrade on both memory and hd since I don't have enough fund for it. [omega007]
i'd like to upgrade my graphic card and my ram also, mine now is 512Mb, i'd like to upgrade to 1 gB,seem like it'll be more faster then usual, i'll love my computer then [suwandilee]
I have not upgraded but changed my monitor to TFT last week, because I love to have TFT monitor .The other one along with tat was an upgradation. I have upgraded my CD writer to DVD writer .Thas all i aam happy with the speed of my comp with 256 MB ram. But may be the next upgrade wil be a new computer .Let me earn some bugs for that .. [coolsree]
I usually up grade the computer memory toincrease the speed to work. Occasionally up grade the capacity hard the disk to increase space kept the data. [jerrypandu]
I have over a gig of memory and a new harddrive in my computer and yeah I noticed the difference. But would I want to upgrade something on my computer? Nah I like it pretty much the way it is but if I could do something it would downgrading my windows. I would go back to XP, I have Vista now and I have noticed that alot of things are not compatible with it expecially games that came out right before Vista did. Also my printer which I need so dearly for school is not compatible with Vista. So I would rather downgrade then upgrade. But for now I am just happy that I have a computer. [Strawberry_one]
i want to upgrade the ram of my computer because whenever i run a few program it shows a message that virtual memory is too low so i think that it might be due to low ram capacity as my computer only has 128 mb ram so i want to upgrade the ram [mitsubishi]
I really have to upgrade my computer, because everyone else has something better, but I can not upgrade myself since it only had 128MB of RAM, which I was told is too small now,but it is not possible cause this is not my own computer,it my company computer that is why for a lot slower machines just can run certain programs. [unisis]
i need to upgrade my ENTIRE computer, CPU, processor, memory, EVERYTHING. i usually just build mine from the ground up, and the one I last built has been doing very well for me that I haven't found a true necessity for upgrading, but at the same time, i'm still using outdated products. i need to upgrade and probably will when the time arrives. [agrigsby]
Deciding to upgrade your computer is not something you should decide to do on a whim. To avoid wasting money on costly upgrades that you don't need or ones that possibly won't work with the hardware you currently have, you need to do a fair amount of research and comparison. If you know someone who works in the computer industry or who is fairly computer savvy on their own accord, you may want to spend an hour with them discussing what computer would best suit your needs. Some people find that they only need to learn more about Windows® XP to make their computer perform to their satisfaction. Others find that because their computer is a few years old, there's just no way to run the currently available applications on a machine as slow as theirs. The choice is yours depending on how much money you want to spend,Your level of computer usage is a very important factor to consider. Computers for work use and home use often have very different programs and uses. Work computers that are used for general office work generally only need the Microsoft® suite (Word, Excel®, Outlook®, PowerPoint®, Publisher) and aren't used for much more than throwing together presentations and communicating via e-mail. With this being the case, these machines don't need an outrageous amount of memory or speed to perform these common tasks. If you work in a graphics or media field, your computer would be a beast of a different kind. Running programs like Photoshop®, Illustrator®, In Design®, and Web-editing software requires a lot of horsepower and memory. But even home computers can be used for these types of functions and require a very costly machine to fully operate. The point is that you need to fully examine your computer usage to decide which computer type is best for you. [simran1430]
Yes, I also want to upgrade my RAM. Basically that's the only thing I need for now. I got 512MB worth of RAM right now, and still I feel it's not enough. My computer lags when I open several applications. I am planning to add at least 1GB of RAM next month. I'm sure that will make a difference. [jasonism123]
i really want to upgrade all of my part. instead i think i must buy a new one. but i think i just want to upgrade the processor, ram, vga and expand my hardisk so i can add it up with all-new software [bocah_detektif]
The first upgrade I would love to have in my computer is of course the memory. I already have 512 + 128 mb of memory but I would like to change the 128 to another 512 mb to get 1 gb. The next is to have an LCD monitor. My current monitor is a poor 15 inch CRT. I love playing games and having the best monitor would add more excitement to playing pc games. [piropos]
my computer can go as high as 2GB of RAM only and my current RAM is only 512MB. i want to upgrade it so my computer will be much faster. also im planning to upgrade my video card, currently i have a 128mb ati and im planning to have it replaced by a much faster 256mb/256mb ati [divinister]
maybe the size of my hard disk, because i have pictures from my digital cam and videos and mp3. so the memory is kinda loaded with it. i still don't have money to have it upgraded so i try to burn them in my cd writer for back up. [queenie_sum]
i also wan to upgrade my RAM,if can then i also wan to upgrade my harddisk also,my RAM is 512 now,i wish i can upgrade to 1 GB or more than it,because my pc is damn slow and my storage is 80GBonly,this let me cannot save more movie and show in my pc,so i would like to add it up both of them [wishangel]
I think I want to upgrade my video card. I got a Hp xw4400 workstation, 512 MB RAM 3.4 GHZ dual core Pentium D. The thing came with a two d buisness video card. It plays Hi Def just fine, but 3-D games no luck. This computer does very well. Even with only 512 MB RAM. I can download, burn a data disc with nero and chat on Mylot. all at once, but no 3-D games. After A video card some more RAM wouls be great. [francisco81]
i want upgrade ram and hard disk ram need for speed up computer [handsome_karthick]
It all depends on your needs. If you`re basically into games you should upgrade your RAM and especially your VGA. Games nowadays are hungry for memory. It also requires a lot of Hard disk space. You can also see the difference is speed when you upgrade your memory and Video card [anjigs04]
I will really upgrade my processor into Core 2 Duo ... God! It's so expensive.! This is the latest processor available now in the market. And also my HD currently i only have 13GB of HD Space so, id rather upgrade it it 300GB hahaha! [rocker0829]
I think every year or two you should upgrade your computer because of the constant new technologies being released. The most important things to upgrade are: 1)Graphics Card (To keep up with high Graphical Demands) 2)CPU This only needs to be upgraded if you have a CPU speed of 2.0ghz (3.0 is better) 3)finally the RAM. 2GB is good but 4 is better [Mickc50]
For me, it would be the RAM from 512 to 1gb. Also Video and Sound cards as well. [jhongz]
Well I am lot into computers and yes I would like to upgrade something on my laptop. 1. I have a 1GB ram on my laptop and I would like to increase it to 2GB....so I can play games...lol......on the second note 2. Windows Vista: I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 right now and I would like to upgrade it to Windows Vista Premium edition. On the other hand my desktop has a 2 GB slots thus forcing my computer to run fast as hell..haha Now u must be enjoying your computer with a 512 + 256 RAm Bye Take Care GOOD LUCK FROM SIKH_BOY [Sikh_Boy]
If I am looking to improve the performance of my computer, I will also start upgrading the RAM first, before even thinking to upgrade the motherboard itself. [spiderman05]
my brothers also look into the RAM of the computer. and upgrades it if necessary. they say, it's for better performance and better speed. [maryannemax]
To upgrade your computer you need to increase the memory capacity that is the MB and also the processing speed to fastenght the computer system in general. [Jamesmboho]
To be honest, I wouldn't want to upgrade my computer. I would rather change the entire thing. Lol.. call me strange but I just find it too much a chore to upgrade one part, only to have another fail on me soon after. So usually I will use a computer for a while, then when it breaks down, I will change the entire set. Sometimes if I have someone to help me with the changing and I am running out of a budget, then I have no choice but to change the part. I wouldn't do upgrading though - I would rather get a new one then save the existing one as a backup set. [lordwarwizard]
i am not very familiar with computer parts. my brothers are always the one to upgrade parts of it if it needs upgrading. i just know that the video card and memory card were upgraded and after doing so, internet's faster now and better. as for me, i just want to upgrade the monitor.. i want to have those like plasma tvs. seems cute and really nice. [maryannemax]
i go for the random access memory... for better performance. [tatzkie]
I would also like to upgrade the RAM. My kids are gamers, and I do a lot of burning so the main family computer is just too slow. My laptop has 512 RAM and I need to get it repaired. [seamonkey]
I don't know a lot about computers. I just had mine upgraded but don't know what they did. I put trust in the computer man in our town. He actually could be doing nothing and I pay him. I should learn more about these things. Instead of upgrading anything else, I want to get a notebook. I think that I would be much more efficient if I had a notebook. Now to convince my husband. [sunshine4]
i would like to upgrade my Processor to 5600+, now iam using 3500+ now i would like to upgrade my processor to dual core [ranatelugu]
for now, i want to upgrade the video card of our computer. because there are some parts of video editing that my present videocard doesn't support.. it doesn't support rendering and other video related effects (advanced)..also, it's one way of improving the graphics especially if you are into computer games, [caite216]
I would definitly uprgrade my graphics card. Most of the games that are coming out need advanced ones. Although I have a good computer,.it is lacking in that area. [AdamMax]
There are a lot of things that I'd like to upgrade in my computer like my RAM just as yours had, has only 256 MB of memory.Thats absolutely nothing today.Even windows vista requires 512 MB of memory. BTW i beg to correct you that its 512MB and not 524MB as you you've mentioned.Next would be my graphics card it has only about 64MB of memory and the very sound of it sucks.I once had 256MB of memory on my graphics cars, too bad i had to sell it to my friend cuz i was badly in need of money. My hard disc is a very old thing and it can store only about 40GB.So i gotta change that too. Also my DVD drive conked off,so I'm thinking of a DVD writer. So that it would serve the purpose of reading and writing.Thats about it for now.All future enhancements will be discussed later.lol [sensesfail]
I want to upgrade badly but don't know what I need yet, probably RAM like you got but each time I talk to a computer person they tell me something differently. I just want to fly like the wind when I am surfing :) [texasclassygal]
My computers needs many thinks to upgrade,....I still have 256 mb RAM....but i think its not sufficient to fulfil my requirments.....I am a student and....colecting money for the upgrade.....This time I will add 1gb and will finish the task....... This is my first aim..... secondly..... I want to upgrade my hard-disk also.....it is now 80 gb.... but now it is almost full...whenever i have to add new software to something i have to delete...or keep backup on removable disks.......I am planning to add 1 more 80 gb hard disk drive soon....... there is nothing else.... i only think that i am not taking full advantage of my processor with smaal ram, and ow hard disk space [zangozango]
Well if there is something I want to Upgrade it would be my graphicard because that is the thing that slows my computer. It is a Geforce 5200 and thats not realy good it cost about 30€ today so thats not the best on the market :P but it works. Well and maybe i want to uppgrade my CPU its a 2400+ Amd athlon (not Baraton). [VexXxeV]
Might do in the future,, in fact I was only thinking about that not too long since in upgrading to a larger mmemory and maybe having a DVD writer too installed. I have a CD reader and also a writer,, but I woould love a DVD writer fitting Lynn-Marie [Tenerifelynn]
I already have a flat screen, a wireless mouse and a brand new keyboard, so defintely a new hard drive. My hard drive is going on five years old and that's just about the time to change it. However, I am not so sure I want Windows Vista yet since it just came out this year and I'm not so sure they have worked all the bugs out of it. So maybe I'll wait another year before I get a new one. [wachit14]
I am game-freak..I play a hell lotta games..so its obvious that what i would prefer to choose to upgrade..its very clear..first i would like to upgrade my graphic card to the latest one with 1 GB memory and again upgrade my RAm to 4 GB..for the safest side...I am working on 256 MB on graphic card and 1 GB RAm... [arkentos]
The part of my computer that needs upgrading is the operator. [roztredtoes]
I think replacement would be more appropriate. [roztredtoes]
right now im satisfied with my computer dont know much of it but my husband does and hes the one who always made some upgrading and i dont know what part are being done..later im going to ask him and post an add comment about it.. [vanities]
well the part i would like to upgrade in my computer are my speaker systems.i would like to put a good pair of speakers with woofer and all the works.right now i have a pair of speakers where i cannot differentiate between the voice and the music lol.it is that horrible.so my take would be the speakers if you consider it as a prt of the computer that is. [dbeast]
My whole CPU. Coz it sucks!!! The hard drive has a ver small size so I can't download games that I want. Aargh! [chasserdesreves]
i need to upgrade my 256 RAM to at least a 512 RAM. i also need to add more memory to my hard disc drive, i wish i could upgrade it to 80 GB, or even to a terabyte, but i dont have the money right now, so 60 GB is ok with me. i also would like to upgrade to a DVD rom with DVD/CD burner. I would also like to upgrade my video and sound card as i only have onboard units which came with the motherboard. i also would like to have an LCD monitor which is more energy effecient. [spasm061568]
I don't upgrade just because other people have it. I upgrade because I find a need. :) Currently, I would like to upgrade to a large battery capacity to the laptop. It seems that the battery life is quickly gone and I am charging it often. Why can't they make a battery that would last the laptop all day long? LOL And then I would only have to worry about charging it while I slept. But hey, I am sure that we will have that one day! :) [brokentia]
I have been considering in upgrading my computer, this has and is a big problem in deciding what to do. Finally, I decided on a laptop and I got one from my friend at a very cheap price. Hurray for me. [mdarma]
Yes, recently i just bought a new computer and find out that the performance will lack a bit when i play the game Need for Speed - Carbon, even my display card is 256MB with Memory 512MB. So im thinking where can get a cheap 1GB RAM and upgrade my computer, im not sure whether this will improve the performance or not but at least it can help to release some "miliseconds" during play game, hope the game can run smoother after upgrade the RAM. [tim_un]
I would like to upgrade the monito of my computer to a TFT one so that my eyes which is now in a bad condition can get corrected.I bought a LG monitor before two years and due to its high emission of em waves my eyes get irritated more so i would like to upgrade my monitor [kfg20012003]
As far as the computer goes...the desktop has already eaten up a lot of space and so now the time is ripe enpugh to go for a thinner replacement. What i mean is i have to gift myself a branded Lappy. [onlyani1988]
i like to upgrade my Processor, Now iam usin Athlon AMD processor 3000+, I want to uprade it to 5600+ , Some body perfomance wit that processor is good & amazing [vPrathap]
well i just upgrade ma whole pc to a new one.. previously my pc configuration is 256Mega Bytes of RAM(random access memory) 2.4 Giga Hz Pentium Processor with 1MB Cache Memory.... Intel 845 MotherBoard... and now i have upgraded ma computer to 512MB of RAM with AMD Dual Core Athlon X2 64 Bit Processor... with MSI(Micro Start International) Motherboard.... and now my PC performatnce very fine... all things are doing in such a speed that i dun have to wait for any thing.. just click and open it... and games are also running very smoothly...like Need for Speed Carbon PC... [manishrawat4u]
Upgrading the CPU part would be very nice. [di1indilin]
