Hello mylot friends! I have a laptop and I keep mine on a nice stand in my living room. I occasionaly take it out with me to a coffee shop, but not a lot. Where do you surf the most.

We have computers in three rooms; my office, the kids play room and in the basement. The basement one is just for playing online games and its there because I can't stand to hear the screaming and yelling that goes on when they are at gaming sites or playing Warcraft. My boyfriend and I both have laptops, and when not in use, they sit on the coffee table. During parties or when we have people over, or there's snacks on the coffee table, they get moved to the lower shelf of the coffee table(a real trek for them I'm sure). I hardly ever take mine out of the house unless I'm going on a trip, but I hate being trapped in the room with the computer. Curious how I don't actually move from the sofa, yet I feel trapped with a desktop... I guess it's the idea that I could move, should I feel like it. [Adelida2233]

I have mine in my bedroom right now but will be moving it soon. I brought it up here because it was always too cold this winter to sit down stairs. Now that is warm it will go back down stairs to a room I use as my office. [TriciaW]

I have a desktop and it is situated in my living room, I have a desk and a proper chair and so it is like my little office in the corner!! I can also just turn my head and watch tele as I type, although I do have to be careful when I do this, as I have been known to type the conversation from the tv down in a response and then have to delete it!! My computer is in what I call my office. Its actually the patio room in my grandmother's house. Well I cleaned the desk and all a day ago and it's a mess already. lol Mine is in the spare bedroom which is now the "office". My computer is located in the livingroom. I only have a desktop for the moment, so I have to share it with DH. I hope to have a laptop to work on before the end of the year. Since I became a SAHM two months ago, I'm on that darn thing to much during the day. With the excuse: DH is on it in the evening so I don't get to work/play. I have two PCs in the home, and both are in my study room networked to each other. This is not a secret room or something, but a room where my wife and I spend lots of our time together working, listening to music, watching videos, playing games, surfing the internet or just doing our personal things. Hey there! I used to have my computer in a large room at the far end of the house. The room was supposed to serve as a computer room/game room/library/sewing room (the sewing room part was a little area off in the corner away from everything else). But that arrangement didn't prove to be terribly user friendly. I found out the hard way that if the computer stayed in that room, the amount of time I could be on the computer every day was terribly limited. Either that, or I'd have to do everything in the wee hours and sacrifice sleep to get anything done. So I decided to move the computer into the main part of the house. Right now, it's on a desk at one end of the sitting room. It's much better having it here as I can be where all the action is during the day and still get things done periodically while being able to keep an eye on everything else going on. My poor laptop doesn't see the outside world as much as I thought it would. I haven't had it that long and am therefore not used to being able to rely on it instead of the desktop. I'm trying to get more in the habit of using it though. But for now, it spends more time in its carry-bag than it does on getting used. blush My ultimate goal though, is to get more accustomed to using the laptop throughout the day. Then the desktop can get moved back into the library/etc. room and I can get rid of the desk in the sitting room. [mamakat]

I'm lucky enough to have a huge bedroom and have an area for a desk, and all the things that go with having a computer (printer, tower, etc) In the daytime, if I go on the computer, it's usually from the one in the living room. Wheeled chairs make it easy to go between the computers and the dining room table, lazy bunch, aren't we, LOL. All three are desk tops, by the way. Both of my notebooks are in my bedroom. Dad's is also inside his bedroom. At some occasion, since my computers are notebooks, when I need to use them in other room, I would just bring them to another room inside the house and use them there. My laptop is wherever I happen to be. I might be out by the pool, or on the front steps, upstairs , downstairs. As I have mentioned in several of my discussions and responses to discussions before, I still don't have my own computer at home until now; so I only get to use the computer and surf the internet when I'm here in the office. Though purchasing a computer set is included in our list of things or appliances to buy as my husband and I know that a computer is not a luxury anymore nowadays. And if we already have a computer set, I personally plan to place it in a study room. Also, our only child is turning three this year. Two years from now, she'll be attending classes in school already and because of the technological advancement, we know that it will be hard for her to compete with her future classmates if she doesn't have a computer. Most of the lessons are so advanced and complicated that surfing the internet using the computer is a big help. If one has to rent a computer outside, there are several disadvantages; one is the expensive rental fee and the security of the person outside the house. It is still safer inside the home. well when I did have my laptop I still used it in the house the majority of time which was the dell right before they came out with the much smaller ones and was a pain to take anywhere. Now I just have a desktop which moved from the end of my couch in the corner to now to another wall after we moved out fish tank in--but laptop is back in the cards because its still in the way of our cable box so when my bf is watching tv i always have to move over--its on its way to moving again. I was a college professor and I taught online for a few years. So I had to have a good connection. Now I freelance graphic design from home and need to have a machine that I can always use so that makes for two of them at least.
