When I had a computer I had it on a desk in my living room. Now I have a laptop I use it when I am sitting in my armchair. When it is on in use I put it wherever there is space. I love having a laptop because it is so lightweight and mobile.

I have my Desktop on the living room so that the family has access to it. I use my laptop when someone is using the desktop. I hsve an office in our garage conversion, so this is where my PC and printer sits. I hate using a laptop unless it has a separate mouse attached. I find the integrated ones really hard to use, and this slows me right down. They really are very versatile though, and it would be great to be able to take one with me on my travels. [jakill]
My PC is on an old secretary desk in my basement. It is the computer the kids use. My laptop usually sits on an old TV table down there. I had it on a second desk but I wanted to be facing the television so I set up the tv table. TV shows and commercials make laptops look so portable. I do move mine around the house but you really need to have it plugged in so it means taking the cord with you. Plus I prefer using a mouse (cordless) and I have to carry that as well. Then I have to bring a book to use as a mousepad if I'm not sitting at a table like the coffee table in the family room or living room or kitchen table. But when my husband works nights I like to spend the evening in my bed so I need a couple of books because you shouldn't sit the laptop down on the blankets. The fan needs to breathe. Whenever I use my laptop I have to gather up a whole bunch of things to take with me (some I use some I don't - like flashdrives if I decide to do some writing and books where my writing is) and it really is a pain. Sometimes I will move from the basement to the family room only to have my daughter come in and want to play on the Playstation and then I have to move again. It's a drag. Can't tell you the number of times I've dropped the mouse in transition. There's got to be a better way.confused [patgalca]

Yes I have my own computer, but right now I can't use it because, the router I had it hooked up to stopped working, so I have to use my sister's computer, and her computer runs too slow for me, yes i have a printer hooked up to my computer, I like using my computer because it runs faster, not slow like my sister's.happy [notlistening2]

Hi maxine, I have a spacial room for my computer, my papers, an old record player and all sorts of odds and ends. It has a gas heater to use in Winter, some book shelves and places to put papers. I donīt have a printer in this moment. I have had at least 4 of them but gave up. The ink is expensive, the printer starts with problems if you donīt use it everyday and people donīt repair these things anymore. So when I need to type something, I send it to one of my family and go to visit and bring it.lol. I donīt like laptops because my hands are clumsier everyday and my eyes too. My brother and I share a desktop computer. It's located on the second floor of our house. I don't really know how to describe the area. Our stairs end with a wall. Turn right and there's a big space. The space leads to a door on the northwest and turn right for a really small hallway that leads to the bathroom and two bedrooms. My husband and I have one desktop and two laptops. Most of the time we use our laptops in the living room. We are both sitting on the couch and there is a small table in front of the couch where we put our laptops when we don't use them. My husband usually goes to bed before I do and sometimes I use my laptop in the bedroom while my husband is reading, that way we can chat and spend a bit more time together. The computer that I use the most is a desktop on my desk in the office I have built in my garage. We also have a laptop in our house, which I use sometimes, but never for MyLot. There is also another desktop set up on my wife's desk in our office which I use even less. We have a fair bit of equipment connected to our computer network. Both of the desktops have speakers, there is also a small multi function printer/scanner/copier connected which we only use for scanning and copying. We have a large laser printer connected for all of our printing needs. There is another printer connected to the network which is a label printer so that we can design and print our own labels for the products that we sell. Then of course we have the router which allows our laptop in the house to connect wirelessly to this network. I also have a web-cam and microphone connected to my desktop so that I can video chat to friends and family wherever they are in the world for free through Skype. happy [RawBill1]

Hey maxi! Right now I have my PC set up in my kitchen/office! I decided that I had a spot in my kitchen to put a computer desk and got one to fit exactly where I wanted it! So, I have a great setup in my kitchen! It works out great for me so I can cook and mylot at the same time!lol Everything fits on it, including my printer! In fact, I just got a new one that scans, prints photos from a digital camera and makes copies too! So, I really have a great office setup! My "computer guy" gave me his old laptop and is in the process of setting that up for me too! So I will be able to use that outside in the Summertime! I can't wait! [Opal26]

That was several years ago when I was told that and I wondered if they are more improved now. It seems like so many people like them better now. I also like where our computer is situated cause we sit on the bed and if we want to watch a movie we can just lie down. We wanted to buy a laptop but it seems difficult cause laptops only last for three years and after that I would have to buy a new one so we bought a desktop a few months ago. We eventually took the bed out too because people don't often come to stay and we turned the bedroom into a home office where I work on my computer. Hi maximax8 I don't have a laptop computer as of now.So my desktop is my sole companion.I place it in my bedroom on a desk so that I can use it at my convenience and also I don't want others to interfere when I am computing.I had a printer for my computer however sometime ago that broke down and I haven't replaced it yet.I will like to have a scanner as well as a printer in the near future.I also want to have a LCD scrren monitor however I am thinking that a CRT will be a better choice than a LCD as CRT's are more sturdy than LCD's.Still as it is difficult to find a CRT monitor now as almost everybody is using LCD's so eventually I may also go for LCD screen.I have speakers which I seldom use as I use the headphone more often.Hence these are the equipments that I have for my computer at present. I have a laptop with a wired broadband internet connection. I carry it all around the house and work wherever I happen to be, even in the kitchen. I've built a small console that holds my printer and scanner, so when I need to print or scan anything I have to take my laptop there. Otherwise, it's truly portable! [ramp123]
Hey maxi. Computers have pros and cons. In my case, i currently have a laptop. However, i usually always keep it in one place - therefore in this situation i would rather have a desktop (less pricy - more power). However, those rare times when i do want to, let's say go on my bed or in a room wherelse, my laptop comes in handy. Especially if you have wifi, it's that much more beneficial. By the way, i don't think it's health keeping laptops on your lap directly, cause of ergonomical reasons. I recommend you place it on a solid mobile surface. Have a nice day, Borg246. [borg246]
My desktop computer is downstairs in the dining room as it is connected to some equipment that cant come upstairs. There is an apple mac that uses the equipment too so that is downstairs. The laptops are anywhere in the house. If I am skypeing with my daughter I will take it downstairs to the front room but if I am alone during the day, I sit in my sons room as it is nice and bright in here. W have quite a few machines here as we have been computing a long time and rarely throw any of them away. [pandaeyes]

yeah i understand you. when all the gadgets are sitting right beside each other sometimes one only should be used as other might be using the other gadgets other people in the house will not be happy if you are doing your thing while they are busy theirs. but in my room my computer just right after the tv. we do use it at the same time. but i don't use the computer to listen to music as it will make noise same time with the tv. i just normally use it to browse the web. that's it. my computer is just inside this shelf. yeah. below the television. we have this kind of shelf to put inside the television and different compartment the tv on the middle. while the cpu is at the bottom shelf. there is of course no cover for this shelf. it is an open cabinet or shelf. sometime like that. then a small compter just right that cabinet or shelf and on the table is my monitor which is connected to the cpu below the shelf or cabinet . my cpu is actually placed on laid flat on its side as the shelf is small and i have to put lay it on its side and stick it inside the small space below so that it won't consume space under my table as it won't fit under the table and i won't like i can't place it anywhere else. since the computer is laying on its side. i can't put a cd as even i put in a cd it won't be read by the computer as it need to stand straight the cpu for it to work or read the cd. I love my laptop as well. Before, when I had a desktop PC, it is placed on my room. Another desktop is also located on my father's office. We do have a printer with it. Now that I'm living alone, I have my own laptop (which is very convenient as I can bring it with me wherever I go) and an Inkjet Photo printer all-in-one (printer, scanner, copier) which is very good too.
