This may seem like a strange question to some but I realized something today. My desk is a mess! What is worse is now I have a laptop computer I have moved into my bedroom and it is begining to look like my desk - and my bedroom is most always the neatest room in the house.
At the same time, my computer is very well organized. Files for everything and everything in it's place.
Which is neater for you? Are you a generally organized person? Do you have any tricks for staying organized? Besides stop being so lazy:)

It is really nice and strange question, very nice question. My computer I will keep always neet. [sriragv]
My desk is not so neat, but computer(desktop) is less cleaner than my desk. Think about it and lt me know what I mean. [justreal]
Ha I like the question. My answer is my desk..cause I do not have one.I use my ktichen table as my work place. And since I have a family of 5, I need to clean it off at lteast 3 times a day to eat! And my computer....well it is a lap top, held together with tape! Yes, duck tape. It looks horrible, but it works. So, I guess my computer is messier than the desk. Thanks for the great question, made me ponder my computer situation! JO [jowjo5]
Ah ah the great fixer - "duck/duct tape" it never fails to amaze me the things people can find to use it for. I panic if I can't find mine :) [byfaithonly]
all of my files are in my computer. all of my files are digital. my computer is very neat, from my documents, to my desktop, everything is perfectly neat. [aleks_saricx]
I like everything neat and clear. So i often clear up the computer and desk . [myfield]
hahaha, My husband and i have a discussion on organization at least once a week. I wish i could help you. I, myself, have asked God to help me become more organized. My kitchen is neat, my bathroom is neat, my bedroom is neat, my computer desk is in the livingroom~ looks like it was hit by a tornado! I try to arrange it and two days later its the same. All 5 members of my family use this area. So you can imagine how hard it must be to keep it clean. Good luck. I will keep comming back to this to see if i can get some tips, too! [OnfireforJesus]
My desktop is obviously better han my desk ! [gogy1979]
Both are pretty neat actually. The files on my computer are pretty organized and I usually can find everything I need too within a few seconds. My desk is rather organized too, everything in it's place. Except for a few of my desk drawers. Those are pretty packed but I really can't do anything about that. [highflyingxangel]
I am jealous - could you please come to my house and organize me? [byfaithonly]
LOL - my desk is ALWAYS a mess at home ... I just seem to accumulate crap on the desk, around the desk and in the desk!! Although when i'm at work i usually manage to keep that one tidy. I'm thinking it's 'cos i give that one a big tidy before i go to lunch and at the end of the day ... but i'm not sure. My computer is organised so that i know where things are but i still have a lot of files that just sit in the my documents section with no home. At least if i can't find stuff on the PC i can always do a search and let it do the hard work for me!! [Sasselle]
well neither of them atttimes but my mind is which keep even messy things organised and handy:)) [mywords18]
If you looked at my desk you'd think it was a pile of papers. If you looked at my computer you'd think I was an extremely organized person [crh431]
Although both are somewhat of a mess I'd have to say my desk is the worst. It is, however, an organized mess...lol [ycanteye]
I have an amaire (spelling?) for my computer. On the inside of the doors I glued cork. I now just tack my notes to the cork board. When the door is shut, you can not see the notes. When I open the door, they are easliy accessed. It has made it so much neater and less cluttered. Before I had the cork, I had sticky notes everywhere. They would fall and I would loose my info and it was a mess. I now have a little dish with thumb tacks in it. I have another one with paperclips and pens, pencils, glue stick and sissors in it. [villageanne]
You can buy cork in a roll at lowes or home depot. It does not cost very much. YOu just unroll it and glue it on whatever you want it on. Or you can tack it but glue works great on the inside of my computer cabinet door. I cant really remember what I paid for the roll but seems like it was less than $5.00 and I did not use near all of it. [villageanne]
My desk sits in a room ontop which my computer sits. My computer is definitely more organized. Due to the fact that I store things in files in the computer. In the room where it sits there are boxes of papers that sit in the corner and those are receipts and paperwork that I feel I need to keep. I think I have acquired my mom's habits. She is a pack rat and can't stand to throw anything away. I am the same way but not quite as bad. But back to your question and I would definitely have to say my computer is more well organized. [sunshinelady]
Haha this is such an interesting question! My computer is usually neater than my desk. Whenever I'm procrastinating, I always go through my files and organize them or delete them. That's hardly ever the case with my desk! If it gets unbearable to the point where I have no room to work, I'll just move the mess to my bed and then back again when I'm done. There are times when I just can't stand it anymore that my desk is neater than my computer but those times are few and far apart. [Lyrica]
Yeah the same thing happened to us, we moved a desktop into our bedroom and now the desk is a mess, all the time, what's even worse is that I work on my laptop usually out in the living room and the nearest table next to me is a mess, seems wherever you go with the puter you needs papers and stuff to go with you. I am a very organized person and the files on my laptop prove it but have yet to determine a neat way to work on the computer unless you buy one of those organizers to sit your laptop on that has a drawer for all your belongings, I think Brookstone carries them. Good luck on your organization project it is a running chore for me to keep my area clean. [texasclassygal]
They're both pretty organized, but then again I'm sort of weird about that sort of thing. I keep all my documents sorted into sub folders by class and stuff. I don't keep many papers on my desk. I keep everything in file folders and then file it away. The trick to staying organized is to organize it as you get it. If you try to organize a thousand things at once, it's much harder than having done it all along. This is much easier said than done, so I usually spend a little time every day making sure everything is put away. [elusivedarkness]
My computer is much more organized than my desk. My desk is a mess like yours. There are books and notebooks lying just like that on my desk. My stationary is also there on the desk and I never organize them. After I finish my work at my desk I just leave things the way they are. But on the other hand my computer is very well organized. I have organized all my files, my photos in folders and my desktop is clean as well. I really like organizing my computer but I hate cleaning my desk. That must be the reason why my computer is neater than my desk. [atrocious]
I used to be the most organized person on earth. Then came the internet. I would much rather spend time on the internet and places like myLot than to tidy the house or clean my desk! I am a college professor so there are stacks of papers that need to be graded all over my desk. There are also books, notes, bills and everything imaginable. The files on my computer however neatly organzied! I can get to anything within seconds. Funny how that works huh? I had never thought about it that way! Tricks for staying organized? I'm afraid I would have to call my internet service provider and have my service cancelled in order to ever be neat again! [crazynurse]
I think we should blame it on the intenet too. It is all the WWW fault. [villageanne]
My desk is such a mess. I have an organizer on my desk and its still a mess. Papers everywhere. I like to print stuff. theres a ruler, microphone, pencil case, coffee cup, candy wrappers. Pepsi can., Sims games. I could go on and on. lol. My computer at least has files and folders to put stuff in. Wonder if i should get a Candy bar wrapper folder? lol [mssnow]
I'm afraid I learned the hard way - trial and error! [byfaithonly]
I'm a perfectionist. Technically, I can't be perfect but I can be the best. I can say sometimes it's a mess. Definitely, for me, all my files are well organized. The only thing I know to be able do that is to stop being so lazy. I can't think of any. [gotcho0O]
my computer is neater than my desk..my desk is a total mess...LOL... [sexy_wahine]
Well my computer and desk are together and it's awful looking. I really need to organize it. I'd suggest just dive right in. [the_dreamer2005]
I'm not computer literate at all so anything I want to keep just gets sent to Documents. I've tried to have sub folders ....Pictures is ok, it has pictures in it as well as family photos, Recipes is ok...all 3 folders of them, each one containing at least one recipe that's in one of the other folders, I have diary type entries that I've given a tiltle to but those titles are now meaningless. There are letters I've sent that are useless and I know there was a reason I stuck them in here but I can't remember. I'm always saying I need to put the stuff I REALLy want to keep on disc but it's been a year now since I did that. I have lots of full discs, neatly packed away and also on the book shelf. Many attempts have been made to categorise these but when I look, the list on the outside barely corresponds to what is on the disc. My desk has a hutch where I have folders, a world globe, my pills, books, dictionaries, unread netguides, cds, envelopes, all my tools like hole punches, staplers, paperclips, thumb tacks, a jar of dice, toothpicks pens and ...another computer. The one I use is on a stand alone computer thingy. I'm in the "office". I'm infront of and next to a window so I have lots of fresh air and I can see whatever goes on outside. I live in the very centre of a tiny rural village and I eat & sleep here as well sometimes. My easel is here and 2 other chairs beside mine and storage boxes and a pedastal fan. There's usually a dog with me and sometimes a kitten Everything sort of overlaps and flows together. I actally vacuumed 2 days ago. (Wow!) So all in alll I'm going to say my computer room with desk and computer are SEMI organised. [MsTickle]
I use my notebook anywhere in my house [amministra]
I am absolutely terrible at organization. My computer, my desk, my bedroom, my backpack, everything. I try to keep things neat, but in the end it doesn't matter anyway; I lose everything. [tuummater]
as i put my hands or arms on desk so it is more neater then my pc which is clean weekly just monitor screen to remove the dust. [smartpk]
Generally I'm not an organized person, my desk is a mess and my computer's desktop looks no better but the rest of it is well organized into partitions, sections and folders, the problem is I leave things on the desktop for too long before i put them in the right place!.. when i can't find a file sometimes it turns out to be in the last place i would check .. my desktop ..lol [freesoul]
I like the question. My neater is my desk [wellingtoncesar1]
im generally an organised person. my desk may get a lil messy at times however i try to keep it in order to prevent losing things. my trick to staying organised is to remember that if u dont clean it now u'll have to clean it later and plus if u keep everything organised it'll b easier to find / understand. i hope i answered u question.. if so, pls rate ! thanks ! =) take care !! [marian_o9]
I start out with that intention, do it now rather than later but for some reason something "more important" always seems to come up. I am going to try harder though. [byfaithonly]
my is very messy and so is my computer. I have a hard time finding anything on both. It seems be worse with my laptop because I have my desk space to get dirty :D [kittyloki]
my computer definitely because my desk is an abslute mess but i am creful to keep my computer organized [kennisha4eva]
I have a computer desk that I bought a long time ago and I've tried to keep it clean but it's an absolute nightmare. It's a good thing that it is hidden behind the couch in our living room so that when people come to visit they can't see it unless of course they walk over to it. I have to seriously get with it and clean up all the you-know-what on it and around it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention; perhaps I won't put it off any longer...lol [cjsmom]
Oh, you are very welcome, when your done with yours you're more than welcome to come do mine. Had a brain storm of an idea though, my daughter (21) has not been able to find a job and is always looking for ways to earn a few bucks - I'm going to pay her to come over and clean my whole office. Maybe I'll even go back to using it as an office rather than a "storage space". [byfaithonly]
I'm with you . The exact thing happens to me. Everything in my computer is well organized somehow, but my desk? I guess the fact that I am doing a zillion things at the same time doesn't help. Nor the fact that I'm working until so late at night that when I'm finally going to bed I don't have the energy to at least stack all the papers. And it just keeps piling up. The same thing happens in other areas of my life. For example I'm always extremely organized at work. But not at home. Have no idea why, and can't even give any tips for the parts of my life that are organized because I don't even know myself LOL [arkaf61]
Oh yes my computer is all orginized but my desk where my computer sets is a total mess..I have papers all over the place.Thank God i have it in the corner of the bedroom..As far as trickes for being organized ,i use a book shelf next to my computer and i store a lot of thing on the shelves, but i still have to take time and keep it straight, but im lazy LOl [slickcut]
Right now I really need to clean my desk, my pc is on my desk. Seems like all my things end up in this area. I just bought a a little portable File box, I am hoping it will help with all this clutter! [LouiseK]
I don't like anything being messy. My computers more messy then my desk is but it isn't that bad. i just have few wires here and there but it's inside my computer which is the messy part. Icons all over, folders everywhere. it's from the days of starting my projects up and designing sites. general things like that. It's quite messy. =) ~Joey [joey_matthews]
I desk is a bit of a mess but not as it has been recently as I have managed to clean it up quite a lot. Oh dear I think that it is best to have a computer room if you can so that if the room is a mess I can close the door, but in the next week as soon as things settle down more here I have no option but to clean it up more so it looks more presentable I have never used my bedroom to do any work in their and I like my bedroom kept clean. I am normally organised with everything in the right place so I can find what I need to right away. No sorry I do not have any tricks for staying organized but to spend more time cleaning it up and keeping it that way once I have it done. [kathy77]
My desk is a huge mess. Piles of papers everywhere. My computer, on the other hand, all of the files are right where they should be. I've cleaned out my Temp files and cookies, not to mention spyware and deleted unused items, so it's clean as a whistle! [lisado]
er...actuallt both are messy/.On my desk, there are tons of books laying on it, and it's almost higher than the desk itself. For my computer, files are saving anywhere, though i have divide serveral disk drive, but still i'm too lazy to put things systematically. At all. just so lazy.... [kks_keith]
my computer & my desk are a mess. i'm lazy...i'll fess up. i also get sick often. [CraftyCorner]
I use my ktichen table as my work place. And since I have a family of 5, I need to clean it off at lteast 3 times a day to eat! And my computer....well it is a lap top, held together with tape! Yes, duck tape. It looks horrible, but it works. [houzilin1]
if i would look at my desk right now its a mess, but maybe that just because i have so many stuff around with little space.. but my computer is very well organized even the files in it.. its just hard to stay neat and tidy if you have limited space thats why im planning on getting a flat panel LCD to save desk space.. [im2good4u]
I think my pc is more neater than my desk, as all files are properly placed in their appropriate folders.and i regularly clean junk from it.Bur my desk might b sick of papers and this n that place d in it [choudry]
For me, my PC is more neater and organised then me or my workdesk. As it maintains itself, whereas in case of others, I gotto doit myslef or someone else has too. There are no tricks to be organised, jus make a wish to be so and stick-on to it [Bangalorean]
Well, it is a toss up, neither one is really messy or neat. They are in the middle. [rogue13xmen13]
I think i am a neat freak. I need everything to be in its place and the place should be the place I want not someone elses. My computer too is pretty organised. I keep specific days on which I have to put stuff away. However one place that is not neat is my cupboard. It is a disaster area. Im working on organising it but it seems to be the bane of me:) [melody1011]
my computer is a lot more organized than my desk coz i find it easier to clean up and organize the digital files on my computers than arranging the clutter on my desk... my desk is a complete chaos but my computer is well organized, it has a place for everything and everything's in its rightful place. :) [joy358]
My desk is neat..with books properly arranged and all. But my computer on the other hand is a complete mess.. Movies..Pics..Music..everthing is scatted everywhere..on my dextop, on the hard disk..its very unorganized. Sometimes I think of clearing this mess..and organizing stuff..but going thro 40 GB of data is really tiresome and might consume all day. As Im writing this entry..I thought about dividing the task and doing a small bit of organizing everyday..which might actually work. So lets get to work. Lol. BTW nice question.. :D [ZingyPrince]
My computer is neat and clean to the point of being anal. I hate having my screen cluttered. All my files and folders are neatly and descriptivly named. Everything is as it should be. My desk on the other hand looks like wild animals moved into 30 or 40 years ago. I've never figured out how to keep it clean except ot file everything in the circular file. [brokeanddrunk]
for me its my computer because it is always covered when im not using it for protection of dust, and my desk maybe not neat cause theres a lot papers on it thats why it doesnt look good [jogger]
I have a little problem. I am a messy person. I tend to have at least one part of the area I have stuff in has to be bad and messy. I'm lazy. I throw stuff down and dont pick it up. Last week I picked up my laptop desk which had been piling up stuff for a couple of weeks. I finally got it all fine within an hour of starting. I am happy to say its much nicer to have the whole thing for my laptop only :)) Laptops are nice. I love them and I'm addicted. Guess we got my dad addicted, he got one too recently instead of his desktop :)) best of luck. My computer isnt super great either. But probably better than the messed part of the house [monkeywriter]
this a nice question to ask...as far as i know most of the people doesnt keep neither their desk clean nor the computer clean...and i am proud to be one among them [bebulee]
I would say my computer is neat compare to my desk..I am telling you the truth that I do not like to clean my desk coz someway or other my family used to some idols on my desk for that i do not clean my desk...I don't like to put some idols on my desk. [mx_aman]
everything is a clutter. my desk and my computer are such a big trash. well thank you for this discussion it reminds me to clean my mess up [123456_]
Hey faith, I can so identify with you..sometimes, you feel so lazzy that you tend to put things where they are...as you work or in the lounge when you watch TV. after some time, its such a huge mess that simply puts you off.. What i tend to do, though reluctantly is that put the things or papers or files in their proper places after using them. Else, later it takes a whole lot of time to clear the mess. [jananisatyajit]
For me it has to be the computer.Although it happens sometimes that the desk is more cleaner than the computer but it happens seldom. [anup12]
My computer is neater than my desk. Computer can a lot of paper works but my desk cannot. Thanks to the advance technology. [kingsix]
i m just like the person you have described. neither my desk, nor my computer is clean or neat.everthing looks as if in a great mess. [aweins]
I have a tendency to be organized but I have relaxed that quite a bit since I am now at home with 4 little ones. I am actually able to keep my desk(which has my computer Printer and speakers on top)pretty clear and free of clutter. When I am sitting down at the computer to answer emails, etc. it is my free time so in order for me to be comfortable I have to keep it clear. On the other hand, when I am lookng up my son's daily school schedule and organizing his homeschooling lesson for the day the desk is temporarily cluttered until I move his materials to his desk. Anyway, I have no tips for organization, I just use a lot of folders and store things in my desk drawers to keep my desk clean. [mckenziemom]
Of course its my computer, I hope i will be able to keep my table neater, thanks to my secretary. [davido]
both of my things are well organised, i dust my room, table everyday and all the possible dust from computer too, i prefer cleaniless, one has to stick by rules, if you let yourself free, u will definitely end up in mess. [gharinder]
A good thing to discuss here in mylot since the users here should need a computer for themselves to work in able to earn. I don't have a laptop, actually and never will be in the future (though I envied all my friends I still wont). But being neat infront of your desktop is just another thing to pond on. Every time, I placed something on my computer table, I always see to it that it should be in place when I'm finished. Maybe you guess, I am an organized person, and maybe I am. [UniqueCode]
i think my computer is much more neater than my desk. my desk is a total mess with all my study materials .from books to pencils, etc.all lying here and there. [smother]
My desk is one of the messiest things in my house. My computer is clean. I like to keep it organized. [metiphisto569]
I Always Keep my Computer Clean Except the Cpu. I Don,t Know How to Keep Hardwares Clean. So I Just Don,t Clean it and i am also scared that i might Get Electrocuted. My Bro Cleans it Once in a Week. [rajkumarrita]
I like to have everything as neater as possible. But I don't always get it. Usually, the things that I have to do pile up on my desk, and until I haven't finished all my tasks my desk doesn't look okay. I'm not very worried for this momentary mess, because it helps me, as it forces me to complete all the tasks as soon as possible for being able to rest. About my computer, this is another story. I like to dedicate some time to organize files in my PC when my internet doesn't work. I take a lot of care of it and all the files are usually in their place because otherwise I have to look for them when I need them and I waste a lot of valuable time with it. But a few times, since there are so many files, I haven't remembered the location of a particular file and I have had to use the "search files or folders" option in Windows. But my computer is neater than my desk anyway. [jotace]
Desk or computer, both are beautiful when they are fully messed up. :). If I clean my desk or my computer I cant work.the environment wil be new to me. [jaish1974]
this is really a starnge and good question. coz i always have problem in keepin my desk clean, eventhough i keep my computer very organised.. i really look forward for a solution to this prob.. [naren152]
To be honest, my desk is always a bit of a mess. It ends up as a dumping ground for papers, documents, and other random junk. I try to be as tidy as I can but it still ends up a mess. Because I share my desk and computer with my partner, his stuff ends up added to the heap and means that we can't always find the papers we need to. I bought a stacking tray with four shelves and now we use this for our documents and paperwork, it helps a little when we remember to use it :-) [recycledgoth]
My computer is neater than my desk,my desk is so cluttered with remotes,phone,pens,calculator,papers,cd's...ect. [wilson7634]
neither my desk nor computer is neat lol [kabeerrocks]
my desk is a bit messy. a bottle of lotion for my hands. A bottle of pills to take. an envelope as scrap paper. a pen for writing. my check book for budgeting. my earrings.. just there. so i will say my desk is a bit messy. But my key board is not. I have just cleaned all the keys with clorox wipes. I also remove each key and place them back after cleaning the board. [giftsandbagscom]
It is better to keep both organized as a matter of fact but many people fail to do that..It is also a fact that both of the above mentioned are always mesy in ma room..even though i try ma level best to keep tem neat and tidy..but i seldom acheive dat state in ma room..but a clean and regular room is always ma aspiration! [Moneymonster]
My computer, both in and out are well organized. Since I always build my own pc I make sure the ergonomics are right so that it won't look cluttered and overheat. When I'm using my OS all of my files and drives are arranged systematically. I have 1 primary and 3 slave drives. Each physical slave drive serves a different purpose. Personal, work and downloads. it's much safer that way so that when 1 drive is corrupt it's highly improbable that the other drives will be affected. [merkava]
Its really a strange question.Neither my desk nor my computer are neat.My desk is often flooded with books and somewhere in between is the Monitor of my PC.And coming to my computer IT'S REALLY A BIG MESS.I always have lots of softwares dumped in to my computer. [CremeDeLaCreme]
well, this question also made me think which is which. never crossed my mind to compare both neatness. but i guess for now, my office desk is neater. my personal files in the computer is a whole mess. but my sister often tell me that i am very organized (at least compared to her)... but i dont know to what extend she meant that. but based on my standards, i feel like i still have a lot of cleaning and tidying things and files to do. [ailene713]
both my table and my computer are neat [abg1988]
I am a a very organiozed person I am Virgo- my desk is neat I like to keep my bedroom that way always files everything and keep to a minimum all papers. [jahvo6]
I'm a very organized person and I try to make order also in my home but it's not so easy when you live with another person. [acquaria]
The desk is full of papers unattended and attended. The computer gathers dust. These things will get cleaned only on Sundays and I do not find enough time to do it every day. [ssh123]
I think my computer it's quite organized, but my desk... [copacabana]
both! i like to keep things organised...i may at times get lazy but sooner or later i realize that my room's getting bad. i cant bear clutter....things should be clean and in place for me. within 2 days i see the dust particles settling on my comp and desk,i wipe out everything the moment i feel 'its high time i should clean it now'. ahhh!i wish my mom gets to read whatever im writing.i would get a hug!lolllsss [nutcase222]
Computer - you are bound to keep it neat , I mean you have to keep your files in a organised way so that retrieval becomes easy and fast. What your desk reflects is your personality, I normally observe the desk of my subordinates to gauge their efficiency. A clean desk means an efficient, straight forward person. Remember cleanliness is [bhuvahsya]
next to Godliness! You just made me realize, I have a split personality. When I worked outside the home my desk at work was the picture of organization - everything had a place and everything was in it's place, drove me crazy when someone would put something on my desk not in the right place. At home though - we won't discuss that personality. [byfaithonly]
i think both of my desk and computer are messy ,if any one look at my computer desk the will be happy that their's are better than this , ithink most of the thinks in my house is in my computer table and in my computer noneed to say any more messy than my desk [cap_leo18]
I am a very orginize person, and I like everything in his place. The problem is that I only orginize on my stuff, and my room. I don't care on other people stuff. I hate when my mom moves my stuff away, and then I need to search them, and I really get pissed because of it. I love my stuff where they are, and when I come back, I want to see them where they were before. [ILANEDRI]
My desk is a mess! And my computer... another BIG MESS! xD Yes, I'm a messy person, I leave stuff everywhere. Sometimes it doesn't help me finding stuff (LOL) but I like it someway :P [luanatf]
As good as a question as that is I have to admit that both are always clean and organized. I have always been that way and don't know how people can funtion with things around them in such a mess. Good Luck [serge4hair]
I am so embarrased...! Our friends came over today; they sold their house and have a new one in Maryland already...They came over to say goodbye and I cooked them breakfast, as it would take them 10 hours to get home, once they left... I had cleaned the house up because I knew they'd be over in the morning but I didn't straighten up my computer area; it's hidden behind our couch and unless you actually walk toward it, you'd never really see it... Well, our friend needed to use my computer to look someting up with his mortgage, because they couldn't close for some reason and I was so embarrased...I ran over to straighten everything up...He didn't have to use it after all because he found the paperwork he needed but, still.... Lesson learned...I need to keep my area clean, just in case...lol [cjsmom]
I sure hope I didn't respond to this discussion alreay; can't remember as I've responded to so many already...I wrote to mylot suggesting that they may try to figure out a way so that we'd know if we'd responded to one or not... It just takes forever to go through all the 'discussions replied to', if you have many... I was so embarrassed today, as our friends that are moving to Maryland came over and I cleaned up the house because I knew they were coming...Well, the only thing I didn't clean was my computer area, and wouldn't you know it, Dave needed to use my computer and I had to straighten things up before he could use it... Aargh..! That'll teach me...but you just never know... [cjsmom]
Actually both my desk and computer are neat it is my brain that is cluttered!! [just couldn't resist that one :)] OK on a more serious note. Yes, I'm an generally organised person; the only rule of management I seriously took to heart while studying it was 'there is a place for everything and everything should be at its place'. It took me a while to get to this stage but I have a theory about clutter. I believe that external mess or clutter is just a manifestation of our internal struggle, the more things we have running in our mind, the greater the chances of the environment ending up being cluttered. And as we clutter our surroundings the more difficult the task of organising seems and we keep avoiding it and as we keep avoiding it, it slowly but surely leads to depression. So I try to generally keep my stuff organised, and the little mess I make over the week I make it a point to settle it all on Sunday. And the best thing is that I'm always ready to receive surprise guests!! [gbala9]
Thank you for understanding the 'Max Mess' theory of mine, most people just reject it, without giving it a thought and as regards to an idea for discussion, glad to be of help from a trigger perspective, though it is your own effort in all honesty. [gbala9]
I guess trying to avoid clutter building up or if you do have a neat pile of stuff. Putting things away and filing stuff quickly once it arrives in the post eg bills etc once you have finished with them. I keep one place for magazines and one place for newspapers and I go through them every so often and then put them in the recycling unless I need to save some newspapers for some reason. [organiclady35]
well my computer is definitely neater. my desk is mostly a mess. all the bits and pieces are strewn over my desk. while my computer is at least safe from bits and pieces [Windrunner]
My desk is usually always neat. I find I work better then. I am usually quite organized as I don't like looking for things. But very often things do come 'undone'. My computer is not too bad, although I no it could be much better, but still have to learn quite a lot about a computer. I have been wanting to tidy my file 'my pictures' for days now. But it hasent got further than a thought! lol [Kylalynn]
My desk is horribly disorganized. I like organization but I don't have time. Every once in a while I organize my desk but not often. I do try to put things in a certain place so although it looks messy I usually know where everything is. And yeah it is easier to organize your computer especially since like with my music, iTunes does it for me. :) [smartie1685]
My desk is very neat and I will have everything well organized, i will have a table lamp on one side and a box containing my stationeries, the remaining space on my table is my working area, I have my notebook on the other half and I also read on my desk. But my computer is totally messy, I seldom manage the files in my computer, sometimes it takes me alot of time to find a file or photo,i think it is also the reason why the speed of my computer is so slow as the programs may not be running at an efficent rate [easy888]
My desk is way more organized than my laptop. I need to spend two whole days just cleaning up files. I'm not a very organized person by nature. I start out with good intentions but I just don't follow through. [eeseharden]
Lol yes I am organized as I have a holder for my Pens and all Paperwork and that is in a Folder in the Cupboard so I guess it is like my Computer lololol [gabs8513]
I just wanted to be the 100th response to this to be honest. DOn't have much to say on this discussion except I keep my desk tidy cos it is so small. Please don't report me. Merry 100th response [killahclaire]
LOL - I never thought of that to occupy my time - searching for posts to make discussions reach a certain number... My desk is really really a mess now - I decided to rearrange my office yesterday afternoon and got about half way through the task of cleaning out papers when I ran out of energy... I can't believe I through out 3 garbage bags of papers only and the desk is still packed and a mess. [byfaithonly]
well i love to see my desk messy but my computer table is really a neat one :) [Arshian]
I try to be organized, but it doesn't always work. Cats knock things over, dogs eat things, husband moves things...sometimes it just doesn't work. [WooPigSooie]
I would have to say that my desk and computer are a complete mess simply because there is not enough time in the day for me to do my job, take care of my husband who is a quadriplegic, and make sure all the bills are paid on time in order to have the time to make my desk neater as well as my computer. You should see all the icons on my desktop right now and it has been a while since I made any attempt to defrag my computer. I realized eventually that I will have to do something about both items, but right now I have to focus on important things such as keeping a roof over our heads. Maybe one day I'll win the lottery and will not have to worry about my computer or desk being messy. I guess that is wishful thinking right now though. [aquadslife]
this is a great question. generally I would say both looks messy... lol... will the junk find their way to the trash. [Perry2007]
ok maybe my computer is neater than my desk...but its not so bad its managable.... i organise my desk once a week [prxch_18]
