Which One Would You Give Up - Cellphone Or Computer

I am so into my computer - the internet as a matter of fact. It's my personal library, my main connection to the world, my source of juicy information since 1996. I think I'd go crazy without it. My husband is so into his cellphone. He's got the blackberry storm now and he's on the phone all the time talking to his clients and everyone...actually he looks like talking to himself with his bluetooth on. LOL Anyways since we can go online with our cellphone and we could also dial a cellphone through the internet which one do you prefer to give up if you have to? Cellphone or computer? I would definitely give up computer if there's no internet on it but which computer do not have internet these days? So I think it's cellphone i would have to give up. Besides I'm so slow when it comes to texting. LOL what about you?

At the moment my phone isnt that good so I would glady give up my phone in exchange for my computer. But in about 2 months I'll be getting an iPhone and when that comes I would rather have that. I mean it can do almost anything a computer can do anyway :) [oogie_boogie]
"Almost anything"? why choose almost when you can have it all? :) [liudvikas]

i think laptop, because u can pretty much do more things with laptop, handphone uses money while laptop uses nothing, so i prefer a laptop ! [jian911210]
That's true. My husband still have to pay extra to be able to get online on his phone. Thanks for your response. [gicolet]

I would definitely give up my cellphone! I use the computer much more. I cant access the internet with my phone and I would get so tired of trying to do things on that tiny little screen! I also wish that more people didnt use their cell phones in public constantly! It gets quite annoying to be in the store and have to listen to everyone's conversations. It makes me cringe when I see someone texting while driving. I also hate when people are texting and walking - they dont pay attention to where they are going! I feel like cell phones have made so many people rude that some days I just wish they didnt exist! [derlilaStern]
LOL i hear you. I also have no patience on doing anything on my cell's tiny screen. It drives me crazy. It's so true...some people are so into their texting that they forget everything else around them. I guess the convenience of being able to communicate with anyone everywhere they go is just so cool to them. Thanks for your response. [gicolet]

i would give up my computer as if you really need to use it then you can go to the library and having a cell/mobile phone is easier for people to call you when they need like in a emergency. How would you feel if a memeber of your family was in hospital and you got a email about it the next day as you were out and no on could reach you?If u had a mobile then they can get hold of u anytime. I personally thinkg that we are all spending too much time on the net and have started taking it for granted imagine a world without the net, what were you doing back then instead of being on here. I would gladly give up the pc to get back into old habbits and spend more time outside and in my view life a more active life. [chillpill90]
i know...i'm all for cellphones when it comes to emergency cases. Thanks for your honest response. [gicolet]

both are necessary nothing cand be left!!.. neither cell nor pc [pri2sh]
No choose only one. lol ok thanks for your response :) [gicolet]

I'd give up my cell phone - i rarely use it i dont have it set up to go on the internet. I prefer my pc for that atleast the screen is bigger and i can do alot more with it than i can with a cell phone (video games dont work so well on a cell) [saundyl]

I'd say cellphone at the moment, because most of the things you can do on cellphones - you can also do on computers, and the same can't be said the other way around. For taking calls at home I usually use Skype, which has cheaper worldwide tariffs than any mobile dealer. [Speedfalcon]

I will also give up cellphone if I have to choose one between this two. Cellphone is very useful and convenient in our daily life because we can use it to contact others whenever we want , whereever we are. However, computer plays a more important role in my opinion, for example, how can I finish my homework without the help of my computer? Besides, without cellphone, I can still be in touch with people using the internet, right. Therefore, I will definitely choose computer to be my companion [Hedwig]

i would give up my mobile phone without hesitation if i had to choose. my phone is useful and i like having it but i mostly use if for texting and making very short calls so i could live without that. there are public call boxes if i ever get desperate to use a phone while i'm out. i use my laptop for many different things. the main thing i use it for is ebay, i sell a lot on ebay and it's my living at the moment. [robert67]

mmm this is confusing and nice topic !! I think well I cannot live without both but especially mobile sms messages and everything but you know what I will give up the cellphone because you can use the laptop itself or any computer to call and send sms as well as surfing the internet. Thank you for the nice topic and have a great day. [silverstone131]

I have no love affair with my cell phone. I use it in emergencies only. That said, the computer is a whole world to me and the capacity to accomplish things because of the information available or that you can pass on yourself makes it a vital and valuable tool in so much of day to day activities. The computer, like you said, also allows one to talk to friends, so-- yep. I keep the computer, and you can have my phone!wink [fjaril]

I would give up the cell. I can make do with the computer and I can email different organizations for help should I be trapped instantly. And with cellphones, sometimes there are no network. And with IM and whatnot, I can seek help from family members if I'm in trouble or stranded somewhere. I was inspired by this story. Demi Moore helped this woman indirectly by calling the police because she saw this woman tweeting that she would want to commit suicide. The police arrived in time. I think that's very honorable of Demi to do that. That was roughly what I read. happy. So summarily, I can definitely give up the cell but not the computer; it's my 2nd world.wub [zed_k4]

I would have to say my cellphone. It is hard to write a novel on those tiny little letters. Besides the data transfer rate is so expensive here, that the computer is cheaper. Too bad it is not a lap top. Another thing is we do have a digital home phone, we get our long distance and caller id free, and I really do not care how silly a person looks with a blue tooth. That is not a reason for not liking cell phones as much, but for me it is the price. Right now I have a cell phone for emergencies and that is all. If it were not for the fact that I might be stuck out in the middle of nowhere, or our home phone went bed, or I had to contact my younger son, I would not have a cell phone. [suspenseful]

I just got a new lap top so my phone can go. =P [kaitlyn_r1]

ahhh Cellphone. why? my pc is half as good as a cell phone, however it wont in a pocket : ) [djvirus]

Cellphone. Hate it. Doesn't get reception when I need it, constantly rings when I'm driving. And the message is never so important that I need to drop everything to answer the phone. I'd get rid of the house phone if it wasn't for 911. Cause you never know when you'll need that. [MrPKitty]

Well I hate the phone so I would find it very easy to give up. I only purchased a cell phone a year ago January. Plus I'm seriously thinking of giving it up when my two year plan is over. I love being on the computer so I couldn't give it up. [lelin1123]

Give up the cell phone of course! [Benzooo]

i would probably give up my computer because you can go on the internet, text, email, and call all on a cellphone! [gloria7392]

if i had to give up. i will give up my computer but only if i get the business model in cellphone like nokia communicator or blackberry kind of mobiles with 3G internet connection which is good and you can do anything on that..so it will be like replacing big computer with small one.... [patialvi]

I'd give up the computer since my cell phone is a blackberry and I can get the internet on that. I would do it under protest but if i had to choose that would be my choice. [TrvlArrngr]

No doubt in my mind i could not live without my phone! although the computer is something i constantly use- i have the iphone and can use all the same functions with ease! however if the internet was off my phone, computer all the way! [Acrane2]

I would happly give give up my cell phone. [DkAngelPrincess]

i would give up my cellphone because i can do so much more on my computer. I can talk to a lot more people on my computer than my phone and my computer has a lot more features. [hmcormier]

WOW! There was a time when I thought there was nothing that could take the place of my computer. It's still one of the most essential items I own. But my cell phone, jeez, it's practically a part of my own body now! It is with me EVERYWHERE! In the bathroom, in bed, you name it, my cell phone is there. It has practically become my companion. This would be very hard for me to give up! [cicisnana]

I would rather hgive up a cell phone than a computer. A computer can help get you money ; a cell phone can't. [BrandiR]

i would never leave the computer....rather i could give up my mobile... i dont use my mobile much, since i dont have good friends in the real world...i can say im much addicted with the virtual friends around rhe world via internet..i can say i could never live without computer... happy to respond...happy mylotting.. [gunagohan]

I would definitely give up cellphone,,,anyway i can still use phone booth to call someone though..in computer i cant blog and make some other stuff..hehehe [ccarabuena]

I would definitely give up my cellphone.we can do almost everything that we can do with a cellphone by a computer.I think a cellphone just like a monitor ,whenever and whereever you are ,people would find you easily by pressing some keys wheneven they want ,no matter whether you like it or not.I am not only not so into my cellphone ,but a little annoying with it.lol. But ,sometimes ,a cellphone could be very useful,we have to admit it . [fishkingback]

hiii dear friend..i will give up my laptop..cellphone is necessary...to communicate wih the others in the emergency times cellphone is necessary...So now we can do any thing in themobile..major of the facilities which are available in the computer are coming in tha mobiles also..even wifi is there in the mobile..so that i will give up my laptop..happy mylotting dear friend..have a nice day....keep smiling cheers ...happy earnings dear friend..happyhappyhappy [srisankeerth]

To be frank ,I am so unwilling to give up both of them .They are so important in my daily life .I live and work without them. But if I need to choose one from them, I would like to give up cellphone. But I should keep computer. As I work and earn from computer. With computer, I can still work and keep connection with my family, my friends and my clients by eamil and msn or skype. But without computer ,I don't know what my life would be .I just can't imagine it [zepoiou]

I got both of them but i rather choose pc rather than cp, why? It so simple, you can't play high graphic games on cp. And I think all advantage goes to pc, why? its because all task can be done by cp can also be done by pc while all task performed by pc cant be done by cp, simple as that. [jeiay41]

i prefer a cellphone rather than computer...in my cp i can do; browsing, check my email, communicating with my friends and relatives and etc...not all of my coy have computer in thier home so i do text or call them to communicate...even though i pay big amount of bill on my phone, but it's worth...:) [rselga]

hi gicolet(cute name). i'd give up my computer.why? coz i cant monitor my husband in my computer not like my cellphone i'll know where he is and who's with him...hahahha! i can carry my cellphone wherever i go and still connect to people important to me.and one thing,i will know immediately if there's an emergency through my cellphone, while i cant do that to my computer, and soo many reasons why i'd give up computer than my cellphone... :) good day! [queennee]

For me, I prefer computer than cellphone, only if in some special situations, such as emergency. Computer mens a lot for modern people, they can finish their work by computer; they can communicate with others on internet; they also can enjoy themselves by computer. Computers are very important for modern life. [wanghui0210]

I will keep both. I'm not satisfied with iphone.. Cellphones are handy and its important especially on emergency situation, Computer on other side, I'm so into on-line games so I wont give it up too. lol [loisvite]

I'd give up the cellphone. I've never liked it. I feel unconfortable pushing the keys to write an sms and my ears turn red and hot qickly when I use it to phone. Instead I love my computer at such point that I gave it a name like if it were human!! [franziska]

I am totally addicted to the internet, so I probably would give up my cell before my computer. [kellys3ps]

I would have no problem giving up my cell phone. I onlt use mine when I go out of town. Now my computer that is my life. I can't go very long at all without my computer. It has became a part of my life. [Shaun72]

it's cellphone, it also depends if the computer has no internet connection then it's better to have cellphone than computer at all. well, if the computer has an internet connection, then i would chose it, rather than having cellphones, you can do anything with internet, you can call or chat your friends.. [xannebull]

It is fortunate indeed that I don't have to make this decision, but after a lot of "soul-searching" I guess I would give up my cell phone because I communicate easier and more often by my computer than I do with my cell phone. I prefer using a larger keyboard than tapping on the keys of the phone, that seems to take an age to send a message off.. happy - Derek [derek_a]

i can give up cellphone....i find it so, irritating..:) [sunilkhera57]

i would say i would rather give up my cellphone, hahaha i can live without it but not the laptop or computer, i am so attached to the web and its like hell without being able to access it everyday!! [jazel_juan]

I give up the computer, because honestly I don't have a computer of my own but I have a cellphone. Computer is very heavy and cellphone is light so I give the computer LOL. I don't have a computer of my own that is why I don't know the real value of it and I can't compare to a cellphone which I have one now. [grecychunny26]

I would be able to give up my cell phone. I am so into being online and connecting with my friends and watching videos. I would need my computer more than my cell. [chunijole]

I hate cell phones. I have had one since Dec 2008 during a family crisis but now i no longer even keep it with me. I have about $5 left on it and I have not used it for weeks. I probably will not reload it again. I am wondoring what will happen to that phone number. If I need it again for a crisis will i be able to reload the same phone and keep the same #? [muscles4me]

well i will give up my phone cos i am earning thru comp .. which i cant do using phone .. [anbuselvan007]

I do like cellphones but i would have to give that up. With a computer you can send emails, call people, chat, even text now. So its just like having a cellphone but with a bigger screen which is better then looking at a small screen and trying to text with the little buttons + it takes to long to text on a cellphone. You can even use the internet with a computer and check everything thats going on. But cellphones are still good. There like a mini laptop. and if you have the Iphone it is, but with a touch screen. Like that new Mac Touch. Thanks For posting this great conversation because I've always wondered what people would give up because everyone (well mostly everyone) loves to use both computer and cellphone [swanlake250]

I would prefer to give up my computer. I think cellphone is more important for me as this is my main communication with my family and friends and I am more comfortable with it. One thing more is some of my friends and family doesn't have their own computer or do not know how to navigate one. [kewlme]

for me, it would be the computer... i am more on the cellphone than internet. [roanne05]

i would give up the cellphone , no need for it for now , maybe after years of developing hardware they could make real product that cobine both and give us no limits but for now we dont have everything in cellphones and the size is always a problem so it will take more time to get us the product we wish for , for now i stick to my computer [supergroup]

I think I will give up my life:P [eddify]

I will say I will choose my laptop over my cellphone if I will really have to make a choice between the 2. There are a lot more functions that I use my laptop for, especially the Internet. I'm also able to use the Internet through the cellphone, but the screen is just too small to read. In addition, the cost of using the Internet is much higher too... [gcorp09]

hmmmm.... thats a difficult question.... well i think i would give up the computer.... because i still surf on my cellphone.... cellphone is easy to carry....bring it anywhere and use it anytime...and i can use the computer in sch. or i can rent in internet cafe'.... its awkward to rent a cellphone.... hahahahahahaha..... well i havent heard people having a rent-a-cellphone business... [bhabytart]

These two are hard to choose, because i uses them everyday. But if i have to choose one,i would choose my cellphone.Because my handphone has wifi function and that means that i can get to used internet anywhere if there is a wifi connection. And the computer can't send sms and call,so i would choose the cellphone. [ahslack]

I can give up my cellphone but not my computer. Anyway, I could still keep in contact with my friends through my computer. Just wanna make sure, my computer should have an internet connection :D [minniemadz]

I think I would give up the computer, because the way technology is today you can you can log onto the internet through the cell phone and do just about everything you would do on the phone that you would do on the computer. [MsGeyen]

hi there gicolet, Well if i have to choose between the two I would definitely choose my COMPUTER! lol...i think i cant live without it!..hahaa..besides anything that a cellphone do can also be done by a computer so theres no worries eventhhough i lost my phone [twowizdom]

Very interesting question.. Well I would give up my cellphone for my computer... There are many things that you can do with your computer which your cellphone is not capable of.. No need to mention those things.. Computer serves as the medium of communication with my old friends from high school since other of them gone abroad and I'm happy to see them and chat with them through internet.. My life would be so boring without computer.. [xarex777]

if i had to give up one it would be my cell phone no question. i can't stand that people can reach me any where i am. and i love my computer. i love going online. i love being able to make money and keep in touch with my friends. [34momma]

Well, I would certanly give up cellphone, I can not spend one day without my computer. It is my hobby to sit and relax and surf4cash on a daily bases. Before I go to work and when I come home from work. When I have the day of from work I spend the hole day and just surfing. Yes, you might think I am addicted and I guess I am...*big smile* [anetteh]

I beg to differ. Not all computers have internet access. By the same token, not all cellphone is able to connect to the internet. If the display from the cellphone can be directed to an external monitor, and the phone can be connected to an external keyboard, for sure I would choose to give up the computer. It is more convenient to use the cellphone to surf the net. At the moment, I would give up the cellphone if forced to make a decision. [whyaskq]

I agree with you... my computer is a library, news source, communications too, music player, etc. I really don't use the cellphone much, just to make calls. It's a pretty simple phone, so it doesn't do much else. I would definitely give up the cellphone before the computer! [Idlewild]

There is no contest here....the phone has to go. I don't call much and I hate to hear it ring. My computer I use almost all day every day. [lumenmom]

Hello gicolet, At first, I wanted to say I will give up on both! I don't really need both of them and I think I still can live without cell phone and computer. But if I ever need to give up, I will just give up my cell phone. I only use the phone to receive calls and rarely make a call. I am also slow at texting and beside these, I don't really use any other features available on my cell phone. [gr8life]

That's a tough one. Actually I can't give up both, but if I really have to make a choice, I'd say the cellphone will go. I am not a heavy user of the cellphone, but still I'll be forgoing some convenience of communications without one. But I can still live with that. As for my computer, it is like my wife which I cannot do without. I spend more than 12 of my waking hours each day working my computer, doing my work and accessing the internet. Without the computer, I'd be crippled because I can't get my work and tasks done. If I don't have my cellphone, I can still do internet SMS via my computer, and also communicate with some of my friends via instant messaging. But nothing can replace the loss of my computer if I have to give it up. [lexus54]

In fact both of them are important for me. But if I have to choose one of them, then I will prefer to have the computer. At least the computer has a powerful features although it's bigger and heavier than a cellphone. I love China [youless]

This is a tough one. I really enjoy my computer and the internet, but the cellphone is, what I call, a necessary evil. One never knows when one might be in a situation and needs to call someone for help. Do I have to give up either? [bestboy19]

Well, I lived without the cell phone for a long time but my computer has a huge roll in my life and is too important to go without completley. The phone is a convenience but it does not serve the same importance. [Canellita]

The computer, I need to have the cell in case I need help when I am away from home. In the olden days we would just go up to someone's door and knock but those days are past for now. [savypat]

I don't have a cell phone. I've never had a cell phone. But even if I did have one, I'm totally sure I'd give it up before I'd give up my computer. [AmbiePam]

If I had no choice then I would give up the computer, only because I could use the one at work! [tashakau]

life,we rely on these tools. However, the reasonable use of the most important. In fact,in this way has become a habit. We can only make good use of,to play its greatest role. [jasminelily]

What a good question. Definately I would choose to give up my computer. Not that I would want to, but I don't have a home phone, so it is my only communication to the outside world. I have my emails sent to my phone, so at least I would still get those. I would miss things like mylot and facebook, but at least I could call people in case of emergency and the like. [harmonee]

I will definitely give up my cellphone before I will my computer. I hardly ever us my cellphone but I am a computer addict. My computer is my friend and I just can't live without it. Once my computer just died. It was the motherboard. The person that fixed it for me order another motherboard, put it in and it burned out before he could finish it, told me he would get me another one on him but before he did that I had bought me another computer. [Chevee]

What a provacotive question, gicolet. I would give up my cell phone in a heartbeat! My computer was fried by lightning about six weeks ago and it took a month to have a new computer built. I had computer withdrawal!!! I don't particularly like talking on the phone and only talk to a handful of people at that. So it would be easy for me to give up my cell phone. happy [FlaKNMB]

Oh what a choice. I need both to conduct business. I would say maybe i can go a day without computer. Not the phone. I need that everyday. Even going one day without computer would be extremely hard to do. [jdyrj777]

I know exactly what you are saying. To me a cellphone is nothing more than a tool for emergencies and keeping in touch with family. My Internet on my computer can do the same thing. I can actually give up my cell phone. I can use VOIP over the Internet. I need the Internet for all my businesses. [libby2009]

I would definitely give up my cellphones. I could not give up my computer. I am the same way about texting. I am slow but I am getting faster. I have only been texting only a few months. But, I definitely would give up my cellphone. I could not live without my computer at all. [sharlahodges]

This question is simple for me to answer.I would give up my cell phone in a heart beat. I used to live without it and i was fine without it. I can make money with my computer, while my cell phone doesn't do anything but cost money. I would rather have my computer. [nrn2003]

argh! hard to choose!! ROFL!! Same as you, I would give up my computer instead of my cellphone.. Keeping in touch with my family and friends through my cellphone is more important.. I use my computer mostly just to kill time. Though I really need my computer for work... I would rather give it up than my family :) [chiepao]

My cell phone has internet connection so I can go into internet anytime. But I can give up my computer rather than my cell phone. Its the call that I need most, its the text that I need most. Never mine the computer. [bagumbayan]

That's a toughie. I would want to give up my cell phone...but if I had no other way to receieve calls at anytime then I would have to give up my computer. I was laid off last Monday and have to have my cell phone with me at all times in case I get a call back for a job. Plus because my boyfriend works nights and I usually work days (til I got laid off) it's our only source of communication sometimes. But I would miss my computer way more than my phone. [csrobins]

Without a doubt I would give up the cell phone in a hot second! I have 4 of them and never use even one! In fact when I do go out and Have to take one, I actually have to read the instruction book before I leave and put the instructions in my purse so I know how to use the one I grab in case of emergency! I don't need a cell phone except for an absolute emergency, like maybe being stuck somewhere on a deserted road somewhere or something like that because other than that, there is Always a regular phone where ever I am, so I pick that up and talk to people, except of course when I am in the car driving, and when I'm driving I am sure in the heck NOT going to use a cell phone, in fact I don't know any idiot that would...way to dangerous for other people on the road! I never could understand why people think that they are so important that they have to have a phone stuck to their ear all of the time...what are they normally talking about? Gossiping or B.S.ing and they can surely wait until they get home to do that. TRUE, some people use them for business now days but why? There was a time when business was still carried out and there were No cell phones believe it or not...seems like the large majority got along just fine with carrying on their business without a cell phone! ninja [greeneyedlady]
Thank you very much for voting me Best Response Gicolet, I appreciate it very much! happyninja [greeneyedlady]

I would give up my computer. (sadly) my phone can do pretty much anything, so it's a nor-brainer for me :] [chasee178]

Hello gicolet, that's an easy question for me. I would give up the cell phone just because I don't have one and don't think I will ever get one. I don't care to much for a cell phone. Don't need a phone to take around me all the time. Just an extra bill. I love my laptop and would not give it up since I run my own website I pretty much need it. lol. Happy myLotting! [caskins]

I could very easily give up my cellphone. I do have to have my computer. Since I don't buy the air time for my cell phone and did not buy the cell phone so it could go and I would not even miss it. [sweetbabyjane]

I would give up my cellphone - with the computer I will be able to be in contact with my family and since you need a land line for the Internet at least I will be able to ring them on the land line if I wanted to speak to them. I agree with you, the amount of information you can get out of the Internet is amazing. You can always find something to what you are searching for plus you can shop online now as well!!! Double bonus lol I don't use my cellphone much, I tend to text people rather than ring them and the people I do ring is my family. [cinderella2007]

I would give up my computer because I use my cell phone when I go some place and if I have car trouble. A while back my car just would not start and my cell phone came in handy. I call my husband and he came and fix it. I can always go to the library or college and use there computer during the day. [happy6162]

I would give up my cellphone. In the computer i can do so many things when i like.Like listening to music during bored times.Playing games to pass the time.A cellphone is only good when there are lots of people calling you.Otherwise it just remains silent all the time. Now we have opportunities to earn on computer so i sit with the computer most of the time.lollol [vicky30]
